The 2nd round pick to the Jags is looking more like a pick in the upper 30s.  Practically like a 1st rounder in terms of value.  For what, 6 games?  Holy shit that is a terrible move.  But hey, they recoup a 3rd rounder from the Ravens which is actually more like a 4th rounder!

Jags stocking up on picks.  Certainly a top 10 pick, a late 1st rounder, and 2 early 2nd rounders.

The Vikings are so fucked.  They literally can’t cut Cousins.  Not in 2021 anyway.  They are likely going to have to cut Barr in the offseason.  Eric Wilson will be a FA. They could trade Harrison Smith for assets because they sure won’t have the space to extend him.  Will Michael Pierce ever play for them?

Depending on how you interpret the 2022 guarantee language, I think they are stuck with Cousins in 2022 as well. They either have to take a gigantic cap hit in dead cap money in 2021 or guarantee his 2022 salary on the third day of league business in 2021.

I hate the Queens, in part, because of the way they dominated the Pack in the 1970s.

One of the Minnesota players who always seemed to kill us was outside linebacker Matt Blair.

Sorry to hear he passed away, likely due to effects of CTE, today.

That’s a good point MB2.  I’m not sure the Vikings will want to eat the cap hit in 2022 to release Cuzz Buzz.

The Yannick move is just shocking though. It smells of desperation big time and almost appears like they are trying to tank.  At 1-5 their season is effectively over so might as well try to get the highest pick selection possible.

Matt Blair was as big a reason as any that the Vikings dominated the 70's NFC. 4 superb owls.

That story is terrifying. Up until about 20 years ago I'd never heard of anyone dying from ALS besides Lou Gehrig. Now there's an epidemic of it among former pros.

I can't think of a worse fate than to be told "you are going to lose your mind, you're going to know it's happening and there's nothing to be done about it."

I've thought about it and if I ever get that confirmed diagnosis, I believe I will take the 9mm cure.

You obviously never watched the Jerry Lewis Labor Day specials.

[Cliff Clavin] For what it's worth, actor David Niven died of ALS in 1983. [/Cliff Clavin]

The Jags will screw up those high picks. They always do. They will either pick bad players or ruin the career of good players. Probably will ship all of them to move up for Lawrence, he will be David Carr, and they will trade Minshew to New Orleans or somewhere where he will flourish.

The Vikes are going to have to realize they need to just blow it up and rebuild -- and neither Zimmer nor Spielman are right for that job. They are trending toward Lawrence, and the Wilfs are letting them. Then, when they secure Lawrence, it's bye-bye SpielZim. It would be a bummer to see the combo go...

Hey, from what I've heard, it's just like the flu!  er, wait....

This just in from Rubechat--

All rainbows, kittens, and sunshine in Viking land.  Yes, things are bleak, but we have a 12th place trophy!!!

And yet, with all of this disaster, the Vikings have had the 12th best record in the NFL over the past decade and have built their team almost exclusively via the draft or UDFA they originally signed.

This quote from the content in the link:

"THe fact is, the most significant similarities about the teams that have had better records over the past decade is that they have had top level quarterback play and those quarterbacks did not get injured (and if they did, they returned from their injury). Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees. If the Vikings would have got that level of consistent, uninjured quarterback play then they would rank even higher."

Those 3 QBs cover all but 29 teams in the league.  The Vikings are among the 29 - get use to it.  GB gave the Vikings 2 chances to get Jordan Love in this draft.  We can't be held responsible if he ends up being the Packers 3rd straight NFL HOF QB.  Again, get use to it.  I suppose rioting against your team to make changes might work.  Maybe the NFL could defund the Vikings.  Rooting for another (more successful) NFL team comes to mind as well.  Stay at number 12 or change.

If the Vikings would have got that level of consistent, uninjured quarterback play then they would rank even higher."

And if a frog had wings he wouldn't bruise his ass every time he jumped.

I thought the "uninjured" part was particularly rich, considering what Barr did to ARod just a few years ago.

What these dreamers never consider is the differences in their teams if they in fact had one of these All-Pro QB. Those guys don't come cheap, and you aren't going to get Tom Brady performance on a Tarvaris Jackson budget.

The fact is they have gotten crap QB play from....crappy QBs.
Look at the chit show they have put out over the last 10 years. The last of TOG, Ponder, Bridgewater, 1 year of Bradford, 1 year of Keenum, and now Cousins.
Going back another 10 years, they had Culpepper, Brad Johnson, the aforementioned Jackson, 1 year of Gus Frerotte, and finally TOG.
Why, that's a QB roster the Bores would be proud of!

Like 25 other teams can claim that at some point this decade all they needed was high level, consistent QB play to win a SB. That's a big "NO DUH!" That reminds of a quote from for U of Tennessee coach Butch Jones, "We did everything to beat South Carolina except score touchdowns”. Vikings have done everything they need to do to win a SB except find a franchise QB and actually play in a SB.

They did let rich ganon go before he became an all pro, superbowl qb with the raiders. 😃

Actually....they’ve played in plenty. Winning one is another matter. “Factory of Beyond Sadness”. 😀

Yeah, but they haven't and they don't. End of a sad, sad story.

More like the Groundhog Day chapter in the story of that franchise.

The only difference between the Ground Hog Day movie and the Vikings is that the Vikings never get it right.

Lets keep it that way.

And stunningly it wasn't penalized or fined.... Ridiculous.

So to retaliate, GB should take out a couple CCs?  That is Cook & Cousins - for the rest of the year.

That would remove any semblance of an offense.  They already don't have a defense - may as well give them the rest of the year - and next year (given salary cap concerns) - off.  That would ensure a 1-15 record.  And Jefferson would then look for a loop hole in his contract so that the Vikings would have to allow him to leave so he could end up in GB - where he has a chance for a SB.  Sounds like a plan to me.
