Re: Giants coffee talk

I remember..... No matter what happens in the playoffs this year, changes are needed to stay competitive. I love this team & I'm thankful they are in the playoffs. FYI....Currently the home team is winning/has won every playoff game this year. Let's hope that trend continues. The finality of it all sucks but we can & will prevail. How about an instant classic in our favor today?? I would really enjoy that.

I'll give some Packer love to that gint moron who caught the kickoff at the 3 only to step right out of bounds. man, it's gotta be so hard to be an NFL coach with the moronic things that these grown men players still do.

Question for the group: Is the Packer defense better at defending the short ball than the long ball? It seems like that would be the case when we talk about a "bend, don't break" kind of defense that plays better with a shorter field. Is that reason for some optimism in stopping the Dallas' attack?

My optimism comes from the point that GD made: if we are somehow able to contain Zeke - that's a big IF - and make Dak beat us in a shootout, I have confidence that: (a) the Cowboys (read: Dak) will eventually make a mistake, and (b) they will not be able to beat Rodgers in a shootout.

I was thinking the same thing. The Cowboys offense is not the kind to especially be able to take advantage of a defense that is a bit depleted at CB. On paper, I like this matchup. One other thing, if the Packers can get in an early offensive groove, perhaps the rookie QB unravels a bit.

I don't. I assure you Garrett is preaching 2 things this week to his team RTFB No turnovers Wear down the Packer defense with the running game & try to keep Rodgers off the field. It's the only defense against him right now. That Giant defense was the best in the playoffs. I'd probably put the Patriots & Chiefs 2a & 2b. Seattle & Dallas defenses can both be torched. Who wants to see a Green Bay & ATL rematch for the NFC Championship Game? They might score over 100 combined

This is how I view it as well. The offense must score and make the Rookie feel pressure to do more than manage the game. Defense needs to have a good decent redzone ratio. Anytime we hold them to 3, it's a win.

Don't worry, a good lawyer will get things delayed until the playoffs are over. That way the NFL can do nothing except test him. If he comes up positive, he doesn't deserve to be a Packer.

I agree that the Packer offense has been rolling, but am not sure where this "pretty weak Cowboy defense" is coming from. Defensive Rankings: Points : Dallas (5th) , for reference Green Bay (21st) Rush : Dallas(1st), Green Bay (8th) Pass : Dallas(26th), Green Bay (31st) Cowboys have the 5th rated defense overall. Weak in pass defense, yes, but underrated and certainly not weak overall. The good news is that the Packer offense just dominated the #2 ranked defense. During thier "Run the Table"...

Just because I never played pro ball, doesn't mean I "don't have a clue" what it takes to play QB in the NFL. I can see very clearly when Rodgers isn't taking what the defense gives him & trying to hit the "homerun" on every play. Rodgers patience will be tested most of the game vs. the Cowboys....especially if they sit in cover 2 all damn day. Cover 2 was Favre's achilles. Just ask Lovie. Favre would get impatient & chuck it up for grabs a few times per game vs. Lovie's defense. I...

I think Starks has played his last down as a Packer. If his concussion has lasted this long, there is no reason to bring him back next season. One good or I guess bad hit and he will be out for an extended period again.

National media has struck me as pretty balanced with even a bit more of a Packer tilt than I expected. Best way to neutralize AR is to keep him off the field and I expect Dallas to pound the ball until the Packers demonstrate they can stop it. Run defense failed miserably in the first meeting and they need to improve dramatically to have any real shot.

Brady could shoot someone on Newbury Str. and no one would care. Packer fans are spoiled. We totally are. We expect HOF QBing like it is an easy thing to achieve. We are so incredibly lucky to have Rodgers to watch. Now, we should have more than 2 superbowl rings to show for those QB's, but that is primarily...

I expect them to be vastly improved, so I can feel the hate in me just waiting to be unleashed again. Even though I hated the '85 Bears at the time, I actually look back at that team sort of fondly. The Packer defense could be really good this year. They actually have some NFL caliber depth at DB and could have one of the deepest DL in the league. The key will be if Matthews and Perry hold up. If they can't, their LB play will likely be a fatal flaw.

Health will be the key factor as always. 12 will have the offense humming. I’m excited to see what 12 can do with a big time TE group. The defense has strong potential that starts up front. The Packer D-Line is as good as it’s been since the mid-90’s. The secondary has quite a bit of talent with Tramon, King, Jackson, Alexander, et al. If CM and NP can stay healthy and guys like Gilbert have actually taken that next step, we could have something here.

I see picks and scoring from the defense. so all the focus is on their d and our o, i would say don't sleep on our defense. and i see that 42 is practicing limited yesterday, so if he doesn't go this week,, boo, but recovery seems to be on track which is good for us, middle is weak spot for us still.

Sometime around 1976, I got a "Gang Green" sweatshirt for Christmas. It had four guys on it that were supposed to be mean. That was the name of the Packers' defense, the result of a fan contest, I think. And for some reason I loved Dave Roller. He had 18 sacks one year for a not NFL team. Here he is as not a Packer: He did not like Bob Avellini From the awesome book "Mudbaths & Bloodbaths": Now that I see the post, I realize you can't read that. It's great though! **** the Bears.

Let's see, that was so long ago. Maybe it was the Patriots, no, no BB wasn't there yet. It could have been the Vikings - no, no, they can't get anything right. The Lions couldn't pass rush a blocking dummy. The Buccaneers were Sapp(ed) of their strength years ago. It might have been the Bears, but Dick Butkus retired years ago. We all know it wasn't the Bengals - they could hurt anyone with those silly helmets. It must have been Jacksonville - they didn't exist yet. Go Bea...., I mean Packers!
