Easy Answer - Bought my house in 2008 3 months before Lehman and Bear imploded. Down 30%. Do the math and now you will know why I grumpy. However, it is a beautiful town. Classic historic CT setting, 2 acre lots, top 5 school system in state. Jeff Saturday would love it. Its where 35 - 40 year old New yorkers go to settle down. He is the perfect age. Come to think of it, trying to figure out who made a worse financial decision. Me for buying a house in 2008 or Rom Wolf signing Joe Johnson to...

Awesome news. After comparing schedules, I was OK that I'd only be "Bear-blocked" twice this season living in Chicago. But those two trips to a bar would easily equal $200, so I can comfortably call this a wash.

Value pick that meets the team's biggest need. Why would TT do that? What I like: Would have been happy with the four picks above Perry too. Zeitler would have been our center of the future. Mercilius would have rushed well enough (Perry a better fit), Hightower probably versatile enough to please Dom. Would have been very unhappy with any of the four picks after Perry. Looked like a lot of reaches. Not a reach (Vikings picking a future piece of toast at 29) Not a mismatch (McClellin as a...

Re: Report: Mort says Cedric Benson to the Packers

Satori ·
Yes and no. There were reports a month back that GB was kicking the tires on him, so at least on the timing front its not a "desperate" decision. http://timesfour.com/eve/forum...854025128#2854025128 it costs nothing to bring him in and unless he sticks around he won't count vs the cap. That said, I'm guessing they must have a more serious interest... to risk bringing something as vile as an ex-bear into Green Bay.

Cutler didn't say anything spectacular, and in many ways he's right. They do have different guys outside now who are bigger and aren't afraid of DBs. I think if GB can't get fired up after that performance last week and with this being Bear week (days)... well, then we'd deserve to be 0-2.

The Bear announcer were talking in the the pre-season stating that with Brandon Marshall the were now Super Bowl bound. I think Cutler is buying into it except Cutler is the Farvian equation that will stop the Bears in the end.

Great game by the Pack. As a Bear fan I will admit my team is the Pack's bitch. Don't expect Clay to play like that every week, J Marcus Webb only plays for the Bears. Outcoached, out played and out schemed, not a total surprise.

I'm neighbors with a hard core Chicago everything sports fan. He came over on Tuesday and said he wanted to give me a bad time but he couldn't do it. The call was that over the top bad. He said in the history of bad calls (Denkinger, Jeffery Maier, Hull in the crease, 72 Olympics, Rice fumble) it's at the very top of the list for two reasons. It was clearly an interception when you watched it. They reviewed it and still got it wrong. He brought up another good point. The ref that signaled TD...

Well, whoever is opposite Clay should have pretty good stats considering all the attention given to Clay. That said, Walden has some ability (I still recall the Bear game) but hasn't been consistent. He may not be as good as Perry in the end, but it appears he's now found the consistency he needs to play at a higher level. Now I'd like to see him find a way to get to the QB when he's blocked one on one.

Jennings is a good player, but he's not a Larry Fitzgerald/Calvin Johnson type franchise receiver. Someone will pay him big bucks in the range of 4 years and 50 million with an 8 figure guarantee. He'll do well for one or two years and then injuries are likely to catch up with him. As it is, he's already missed 15 games the last two years and he turns 30 at the beginning of next season. As much as I'd like to keep him, I think you have to look at it that this is last chance to get the big...

Good post, I agree generally except I doubt Chicago or Detroit, both teams are paying huge amounts already for their #1, I don't see them paying 2 WRs that kind of money. Minnesota needs a premeire guy and love to get older Packers. Its worked somewhat with Sharper and Longwell, I expect to see him wearing purple with an outside chance of Miami. In the end, though, you are right, it whoever pays the most.

I went over to the Bears board after the Peppers signing. Most of them were beating up the Packers for making a bad cap decision. Apparently they don't quite realize that Peppers has a bigger cap number on the Bears this year than the Packers. And if he crashes and burns the cap hit next year is manageable. But Bear fans have never been the brightest fans around. They swear it was just a get even move by Peppers to sign with them. Of course Peppers has 30 million reasons to play well this...

I was bored last night so watched the replay of the 2nd half of the Dallas game and the last Bear game. In both games, Quarles really played well. He had a couple of doink off his hands but also made some incredible catches. Maybe TE is not going to be such a need position after all if he has those kind of performances going forward. Maybe he and Bostic can make the position work. Not sure how he compares to the TE from Iowa or Niklas but Quarles may have finally found himself toward the end...

I'm working through this as I put it together, so no preconceived notions here, but this is how the starting D stacks up: Jenkins - IIRC, he's been around for both regimes; Pickett - TT, and in no way is he "lightly regarded," nor was he when he signed. Williams - Sherman Kampman - Sherman Hawk - TT Barnett - TT Pop - TT Harris - Sherman, and probably his best trade. Woodson - TT Collins - TT Bigby/Whoever - TT That's 3 or 3.5 Sugar Bear guys out of 11, depending on how you classify Jenkins.

I don't know where people get the impression that I'm a big fan of Sherman. My contention is just this: in terms of personnel, TT hasn't added a whole lot beyond Hawk and Woodson, and given what we gave up to get them, they should be good. Like MichiganPacker said, though, it's a nice thing those moves worked out, and if most of Thompson's picks in the top half of the draft and big-money signings perform that well, the Packers will be in good shape for years to come. Maybe we should get back to the original question. At what point do YOU think McCarthy should have benched Favre? Or Favre should have taken himself out of the game? Were you sitting there watching the game saying "Get Rodgers in there!" I wasn't particularly interested in that question but I'll play. Halftime. 10-6, one play. The rest of the offense stunk. If you couldn't see the fact the Giants were moving the ball and the Packers offense was hanging the defense out to dry you're fooling yourself. At minimum using Rodgers in different play scenarios to complement Favre would've been a option.

I'm just not sure about this Henry. One reason being - the Bear game. Last year, the Bears had nothing to play for and on Monday night, the Packers destroyed them. Was it a harbinger of things to come? No. The Bears reached the SB. The guys aren't robots. In the regular season, they are not going to get up for every game.
