I had a friend that had a Ford Falcon. Biggest POS ever but it had vents on each of the front seats that you could perfectly fit a bottle of booze in.

Re: First / High School car
The picture of the Ford Falcon I showed is off the internet. The real car had 160000 miles on it when I got it. It needed a pressure plate for the clutch, brake work, I got some cheap tires, and then had to repair the holes. When I got into the vehicle I could look down and see the ground. So I got some galvanized sheet metal, some roofing cement, and some pop rivets and created a new floor on both the driver and passenger side. Then I went to a carpet store and got some remnants and...

Re: Last call for Falcon game predictions
Love the optimism about the defense even if I can't share it. It's definitely healthier, faster and appears better prepared to deal with the Falcon offense but I'll remain a skeptic until Dom shows he can get it done on the field. Too many times the Packer defense has played reasonably well in spurts only to subsequently **** the bed.

Re: Poz/Neg Bears Packers
I haven't seen a worse call at Lambeau since the playoff game vs. Atlanta with Mike Vick. The Phantom Packer player touching the punt when it was actually a Falcon. Yeah that was special.

Only with Falcon win tomorrow. Rooting for a Falcon loss if only to see Rodgers hurt the Vikings.

Re: Packers/Panthers game thread
Unfortunately, I think the reciprocal is more likely - that the Vikings hurt Rodgers.

Re: 2017 Packer Defense
Take a stopwatch & go back to video of the Falcons game. Almost every Falcon completed pass had Ryan releasing the ball in under 2.80 seconds, many in under 2.5. The NFL average time for sacks is 2.8-3.0 seconds. We were 6th in sacks & 11th in hurries last season. We are in much great need of DBs who can take away the QB's first read & give our pass rush time to get there, rather than the other way around.

Re: 2017 Packer Defense
And they way I see it is that the opposing receivers often had a nice big cushion at the LOS and that allowed for a quick release. Was it the defensive play calling? Perhaps it was. Or maybe it was out of necessity? My guess is that the DB's were too hurt or that their skill set were not up to the task. In any case the coaches have a lot of film to look at. Corrections need to be made or the same thing will happen this year.

Re: ROUND 5 PICK 176 (compensatory pick f/EW) - WR JARED ABBREDERIS (WISCONSIN)
Not sure about that one, Brak. I was at the Falcon game in December. It was frickin' cold and Boykin had zero interest running routes. The Falcon defense was sooooo bad that game and virtually every pass play Flynn had open receivers all over the place - however, it was almost never Boykin. Myles White was virtually as important that game as Boykin.

More total offense in the Packer-Falcon promo clip than in this entire game so far.

A Falcon win would be a great start to the day. Not terribly optimistic, but the start is encouraging.

Re: Phony-Falcons vs Lie-Downs
You don't have to look any further than Richard Sherman's chunky soup commercial to figure out what's wrong with Seattle this year. You can't make something that ridiculous and not pay for it in some way. Falcon RB does everything he can to get out of bounds to stop the clock and give the Lions a cheap time out. Lions have none of it and bring him down in bounds. Suck is dripping off these two squads.

Re: Phony-Falcons vs Lie-Downs
Fairley tweaked his knee. Could be an MCL as he bent it inwards. God the Falcon pass defense is brutally bad. How do you allow that play to the only receiving threat the Loins have in Tate?

Re: Phony-Falcons vs Lie-Downs
Falcon 4th quarter game plan should be a steady diet of jump ball fly patterns to Jones. Ryan tried to throw that last pass directly to Levy. Douglas bailed him out. Then he fumbles.

Falcon choke should help increase the urgency for the Packers tonight. Let's hope they respond.

Re: Last call for Falcon game predictions
I hope Rodgers runs for 2 first downs on the first series. If that happens, a blowout will ensue. Otherwise I hate this game: this is a desperate Falcon team who is a 12.5 point underdog on National tv with their season on the line, against the suddenly and prematurely anointed Super Bowl champions. That's a recipe for disaster in today's NFL.

So with the LB injury in Atlanta and pretty much no depth behind him there is this the prime opportunity for the Packers to trade the LB that everyone loves to hate for the best deal Ted can get? Afterall, a Falcon and a Hawk should get along

Back in the stone age the only time you really got cartoons was on Saturday morning. I made sure I was up by 730 to I could catch loony tunes. The other one I made sure I watched was the Pink Panther cartoon but only to see the ant and the ardvark which I thought was hillarious. Other cartoons were the Flintsones, the Jetsons, Underdog, and especially Rocky and Bulwinkle. Gilligans Island and Happy Days were two of my go to programs as a kid. And yes the answer to the eternal question is...

Re: Very Proud of THIS Team + / -
It's not an excuse. The Falcons didn't do anything superb. The Packers didn't match. At all....If you noticed the Packers offense drove the ball right down the field a couple times on Atlanta. 1 ended in a turnover. Another ended in a missed FG. What do you think Brady is going to do vs. that defense? It's not an excuse. Packers didn't match today. Credos to the Failcons but the Falcon defense is nothing to get excited about.

On D, it's coaching AND players and changes must be made. Look at how the Falcon and Patriot defenses, weak just a few years ago, have been improved.

Re: Sorry, I have to look forward...how do you fix the defense?
I knew tonight was going to be tougher than I thought when I saw Atlanta's tight end line up all the way outside on a 3rd and 4 and Randall was 15+ yards away from him and 10 yards past the first down line. Yea, Ryan saw it, Randall missed the tackle, and it was an easy conversion. SAW that and was stunned. Contrast to how aggressive the Falcon DBs were on our receivers, right at the line for a bump. Not afraid of speed.

Re: Sorry, I have to look forward...how do you fix the defense?
That was a key 3rd down too. How can Randall play that far off his man? Bad coaching or just a bad player?

Re: Sorry, I have to look forward...how do you fix the defense?
A little both in that situation to me but I will go coaching in that situation. If you are an NFL CB there is no reason on gods green earth that you should give a TIGHT END that much cushion. But by that point in the game I stopped being surprised at what the defense was doing.

Re: Sorry, I have to look forward...how do you fix the defense?
Or injured player? Want to see which players require surgery at the end of the year before we can call players bad or not. The secondary was definitely hit the hardest by the injury bug this year. Think we can bring in some players from FA and say the door is open to be a starter. No one should be guaranteed a starting job from our current group of DBs at this point. BTW, I'm rooting for new DC and staff. It is time to change.

Re: Sorry, I have to look forward...how do you fix the defense?
I remember thinking that also. You could almost understand playing that far off if it was Julio Jones and you didn't want to be torched, but it was a TE. It was indicative of the whole year where Randall didn't seem to know what he was supposed to do (or able to do it). Matt Ryan played well, no doubt, but it wasn't like he was making throws like Rodgers. He looked like Tom Brady - hitting wide open guys for the most part. And on most plays it seemed like he had his pick of multiple guys...

Re: "Dom Capers **FIRED** was an OUTSTANDING Football Coach"
This. Plus all the points we gave up to Dallas in the win. Ridiculous. And just plumb STUPID to not bump the Falcon receivers at the start of the route. It's like playing not to lose, like Mike Sherman did against the Eagles on the road. Say what you will about Bellichick, but his teams reflect his no nonsense toughness. maybe Pittsburgh Macho could learn a thing or two even though he is undoubtedly a "very successful NFL coach."

Re: "Dom Capers **FIRED** was an OUTSTANDING Football Coach"
Falcon defense certainly didn't play well in the second half but that has a bit of an Ed Donatell scapegoat feel to it. They bleed the clock, kick the FG and go up two scores and he probably keeps his job.

Re: Superb Owl - not that anyone really cares
Quick story: During the Packers SB run in 2010, I was trolling the fan boards for the Falcons right before the divisional playoff game there. The boards admins/Mods were BEGGING Falcons fans to show up for the game, on time, and not sell their tickets. Apparently during home games, it's quite common for Falcon fans to not show up until mid-way through the 1st Q, damn near the start of the 2nd. You know, like baseball? WTF.

Re: Superb Owl - not that anyone really cares
Yeah it was hilarious. We were there for the game early that season where the Falcons won and the Falcons fans talked a lot of sh*t. We went back for the playoff game and they were all over us. They busted our balls pretty good, not too bad compared to what I've heard from some other stadiums though. They were really full of themselves right before halftime, several people went to the bathroom when Tramon returned the INT for a TD. They didn't realize what happened and the look on their face...
