Hasn't put them over the top though, which to me is kind of the point when you go "all in" for a player like that. They sacrificed fixing their pass rush with Aldon Smith or JJ Watt or their OLine with a guy like Tyron Smith who has been pretty reliable in Dallas. They could have had Randall Cobb or Justin Houston or Demarco Murray in r2. Julius Thomas was taken a few slots after the r4 pick they gave up also. Julio Jones has been an elite player, but if I'm a Falcon fan and I look back and...

Atlanta can put up the points. Capers needs to not only slow Julio down, but this is a very fast and versatile Falcon offense. Jones has become one of the leagues best receivers, they have 2 TE's that they use and both can catch, two very good backs in Freeman and Coleman-could be good for us that Coleman is out. Not to be lost is the fact that Sanu is no slouch as a 2nd WR especially with all the attention given to JJulio. Ryan is playing at a high level too. As others have said, need to...

For the three Packer-Falcon games I have been at in my life, the Packers have won all three. A case for getting me to the game? I couldn't go if the opportunity were there - and stay married. Hummmm ......... Anyway, Florio & MDS are both picking the Falcons - which provides enough reason to pick the Pack so I can rub it in their faces when they do win. Say what you want - yes the Bears were injured - they were also not prepared for the style of attack they saw. I think the Packers are...

Freep mentioned the Lions plan on tagging Avril. He's a good 4-3 DE , and goes around 260, not so sure he would fit at DE in Packer defense. If memory serves, it was Avril and Suh that Falcon players claimed were celebrating while Ryan was on the ground injured. Not cool. Avril was also the guy that was on-field "Teboing" after sacking the chosen one.

I think you forget how good Rodgers is in domes. The entire team just plays better in domes. Matt Ryan is nothing. He's a Dan Marino pocket passer with a slower release. Provided the Falcons hang on here, Niners will beat them into submission. C'mon Falcon defense!!

If you look up the field just a bit on that last play, the Falcon DBs did something different: they just got in front of the receivers coming down and didn't let them get into the end zone. They played it almost like an onsides kick, with Jones stationed in the EZ. You could even see one of the Hags try to push the DB. That's why there were no Hag receivers anywhere near the ball. Interesting play.

I actually watched this game yesterday before the games started. Another huge play was the kickoff return for a TD. The Packers had just gone on a long TD scoring drive and the Falcon defense had to go right back onto the field. The Packers scored another long TD drive and at that point I think the Falcons realized they had no chance of stopping them on that day.

Love that formation, IIRC Packers call it "Falcon". They don't do it often, but Korey Hall and/or the blocking tight end are ALWAYS open on short flat passes from that formation, it always seems to go for a first down. They don't throw enough to Hall, IMO.

Not sure I saw this or if it has been commented on or if anyone else saw it. 4th down at the end of the game, Ryan threw a short pass over the middle, the D knocked down a not particularily good pass which would have been enough for a first down. Everyone saw that. Reply was shown a couple of times and in one shot it showed what appeared to be a wide open Falcon rcvr in the end zone. Note I said appeared, the commentators to my memory did not comment on this. A couple of minutes later they...

Heard a little about this P P. It seems Ryan had seperated his left shoulder on a play and did not have the strength to throw the pass into the endzone. I doubt if Gonzales knew this at the time of the play or right after as he was sitting on the bench.

From the article: McCarthy, 55, had been with the Packers since 2006, winning Super Bowl in 2010. However, things have been rocky since, only reaching one NFC title game in that span. By my count he's reached 2 since winning the Super Bowl. Seahawks and Falcon losses. A total of 4 times in his GB career. Giants, Bears and the aforementioned 2. Only to the Super Bowl once. So, if the writer thinks they've reached a Super Bowl since 2010, wrong. Unless I missed it. If the writer thinks they've...

Disagree - This Falcon team ain't the 1978 Steelers They caught some breaks Packers had key personnel missing Packers made mistakes All adds up to an 11 point loss in September. It ain't like Green Bay played perfect football & still got beat by 11. Gimme a break, this Falcon team is very VERY beatable.

Re: Plus / Minus Atlanta Game

I agree Falcons are beatable but it is verry hard to see how this Packers team can do it. The D can be very good, we saw it against the (bad Oline) Hawks. But no one or two can cover Jones and the Sunu and the rest are wide ****ing open. They can't seem to stop the backs and I don't think Ryan is great but he picks them apart. It's not an 11 point loss, really. Atlanta could have turned up the heat with Jones crossing routes like in the second quarter anytime in the 3rd, 4th. and when they...

The key to beating Atlanta (and almost any team with a good QB) is being able to generate pressure with by rushing 4 or 5 - especially pressure up the middle. Rodgers is an exception to that because he is so good at extending plays without risking turnovers. Matt Ryan is a great pocket passer, but he's a statue. A healthy Daniels collapsing the pocket and CM3 with edge pressure is what's going to give them a chance. Outside of putting peak-Deion Sanders on Julio Jones - it you give Ryan...
