Ok- I agree with that. When a team isn't ready to play, it's on the coaches. I have gone back and forth on this subject- if McCarthy's time has come. I guess I just don't understand why a guy who used to be so ahead of the game, so innovative, and right there with the best coaches in the game suddenly loses it. Last year the play-calling debacle it was "They miss Jordy"... this year not much has changed. And I go back to that Bleacher Report article- is Rodgers seeing ghosts? Today's game...

I have no doubt that MM is a very good coach, but his team is in a rut since Game 7 last year. The same issues with the O keep cropping up, and the insistence on going with 11 personnel and iso routes is purely coaching. The same issues with the D not being capable of carrying off-days for the O under Dom, middle of the field being open, giving up last second scores, etc. is again on coaching. The coaches understandably may not see the forest for the trees as well - who gets playing time,...

Two weeks ago conservative killed us. Loss. This week a blitz burned us. Loss There is no compensation like overcompensation, I assume Dom will break out the 11 drop back in zone (10 on the perimeter, 1 shadowing the QB. He'll call it the inverted "U") defense next week. It will cause 7 turnovers and the Pack will win by 30. Dom commits to it because it works, defense will get crushed for the rest of the season. Side note, I think Fackrell will be a player for us. Good rationale post. The personnel issues related to the RBs have to come under some scrutiny for TT/MM did there. Letting go of Sitton might have been the right choice, but somehow thinking that Barclay was an adequate option was shortsighted at best. This is still a borderline playoff team, but I think that's the ceiling this year. At best, this is a team that will likely just miss the playoffs this year or limp in and get beat in the first round. I agree with others, this team has never...

Badgers control it themselves. If they win out and win the Big Ten they are not going to be shut out of the playoff. Two Big Ten teams will be in. MI lost to an unranked team and remained at #3?????? That will be corrected in the vote next week. Then if MI loses to OSU.....MI will drop down to around 10 or 11 in the rankings.

Brian Kelly would also have to be fired. In 2015, Brian Kelly's ND went 10-3 and ended up #11 in the final poll. They lost by 2 points at Clemson (#2 in final poll), by 2 points at Stanford (#3), and to Ohio State in the bowl game (#4). Yes. Notre Dame is down this year, but I can't imagine them firing him less than a year removed from an outstanding season.

Brian Kelly is much like MM....very stubborn, overly loyal to terrible assistant coaches, can't commit to the run game, and is not able to adjust during a game. Just watch tape of the game they played in near hurricane conditions a few weeks ago at North Carolina State (a game that should have never been played) and explain why Kelly was compelled to stick to a shotgun formation, empty backfield and continue to throw the ball. Then he threw the center under the bus after the game for some...

It's a decent thought though. He's a good coach, and they need one. Of course, gotta be able to recruit. That's the name of the game in college. But he can tun 11 personnel all damn day and it'll work with the right guys. But I'm pretty convinced that McCarthy is coaching his final season, and we'll all look back at the 2015 NFC Championship game as the delineation when it all started to go wrong. They don't appear to have ever recovered from it.

The Good? The Packers may very well be drafting in the top 5-7 in 2017 after going 4-12 or 5-11. The Ugly? After choosing that high draft choice, it's equally likely it'll be Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy and Dom Capers high fiving one another after they make the pick.

Re: The Ugly, The Bad ...and the Good?

The Good. 1. Cook showed how much the offense can benefit when you have a TE that is a receiving threat. They really haven't had that since Finley. 2. Rodgers missed a few, but it was clear that Cousins was also having problems with balls thrown in the flat because of the wind. A couple of those moved several feet when thrown in that direction. Other than that, Rodgers played pretty well. The OL can't run block and can't really protect, so Rodgers is what's keeping them somewhat respectable.

The problem is that they are more than 1 player away from being a top flight contender again. They are about 4 players away and that's if those players are Ezekiel Elliott, Richard Sherman, Joe Thomas, and a healthy JJ Watt.

Agree, this team is far from one player away. Which is why it continues to be so damn frustrating Ted is so obsessed with the draft and completing his roster with UDFA's and almost never considers free agency. The one thing we know about Ted's "tree" of exec's that have since left him...Reggie McKenzie, John Dorsey, and Schneider is that these guys will use and sign veteran free agents to fill their rosters. Ted simply refuses to. And considering he's missed on key players in his last 3...

The OL has easily been the most consistent group on the entire team. Barclay struggled to replace Lang last night but you make it sound like the OL is the reason this offense isn't working. Of all the problems on this team, OL is probably second to last (behind FG kicking). I'll admit the run game is struggling but I think that's has more to do with not having a real RB than the blocking. As for pass blocking, it's more Rodgers and the receivers b/c he's had all kinds of time back there.

Along DocBenni's post. After the Titans loss I had just about given up on the season and said Mike deserved another year provided he cleaned house with his staff (with exception of Whitt) I still want Moss and Clements gone. In the meeting earlier this year. The GB OL pushed the Giants DL around. Eddie had 80 yards on 11 carries. GB ran for 150 yards total. Rodgers wasn't sacked. GB completely dominated that game. Both lines were really good. I'd love to have Eddie for this game. But Ty and Michael should find running room. The offense is playing on a completely different level than they were for that earlier meeting. And the OL should feel pretty good going into this game.

I know that this is a much different team, but this game has the same feeling as the divisional game against Atlanta during SB run in 2010/11. We're not bringing another stout defense to the table, but the offense is on a roll that surpasses anything we saw in 2010.

Lacy was already hobbled that game and yet he ran for 45 yards on 7 carries in the 1st half. Had 61 yards on his first 11 carries, then he had his ankle rolled up on again and he was done. This might be the week we see Michael get 15 carries. They played Spriggs as an extra OL often in the first meeting.

I agree that the Packer offense has been rolling, but am not sure where this "pretty weak Cowboy defense" is coming from. Defensive Rankings: Points : Dallas (5th) , for reference Green Bay (21st) Rush : Dallas(1st), Green Bay (8th) Pass : Dallas(26th), Green Bay (31st) Cowboys have the 5th rated defense overall. Weak in pass defense, yes, but underrated and certainly not weak overall. The good news is that the Packer offense just dominated the #2 ranked defense. During thier "Run the Table"...

Limit the explosive plays. Elliott had runs of 11, 14, 25, 12, & 29. He also had his share of 0 and negative runs. Like any great RB, contain them, keep them from the big run.

That's a good plan but the problem is that for the last few games we have gone light in the box because we have needed to go zone. By necessity we have used LB's and Safety's to help our depleted cornerbacks from being gashed. Dallas is now almost full strength and we are not.

I still think the killer from game 1 was the poor use of timeouts to end the first half. There was no issue going into halftime down 10-6 and getting the ball to start the half. Dallas seemed content to let the clock run out and they were out of timeouts. The first timeout was bad enough, but when McCarthy called the 2nd timeout it was 3rd and 1, it wasn't like it was 3rd and 11. Then they had the long run and a couple plays later it was 17-6.

Agreed. I think you have to play Elliott like they did Adrian Peterson. If Dak Prescott beats you, so be it. Match up Burnett on Witten, Hyde on Cole Beasley, and treat Dez like Odell Beckham by rolling help to him. If Burnett and Hyde play to a draw in their matchups, we probably win. But to stop Elliott and Dez, you have to give up helping a guy somewhere else, and it will be the TE and slot receiver.
