Re: LeBron James: “That one right there made you the greatest of all time”

Music City ·
LeBron forgets a lot of things about that Championship in Cleveland- like the fact that Kyrie Irving made that dagger 3 to win it, or the Warriors momentum was thwarted by Green’s suspension. Or that he’s 3-6 in Finals in an era when the EC was the red headed stepchild of the NBA. He forgets that he actively takes whole months of seasons with about 50% effort. That he was the one who said the Cavs must pay Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, and Kevin Love. He was the same guy that demanded they...

I don't think the Packers win the championship without Andre Rison. Then again, leaving practice and not showing up for the next one is serious stuff. I wonder how Brown would react if the Packers talked things over with him and said, "We'd love to have you, but if you pull that crap here, we'll ship you out faster than a New York second." One other thing. I am too lazy to do the cap stuff. That said, I still remain more concerned with o-line.

Fleck and the Goofers lost the game that decided who the BIG 10 West Champions are. There is no "Co- Champs" bs! Bucky stands alone as BIG 10 West Champs. Fleck, his Goofers, the rest of Minnesota and the Goofers easy schedule, can get over it. Once again, a Minnesota team chokes in a Championship game! This time, instead of purple, the smear on the field is maroon colored.

Allowing 28 points allowed the last two weeks. I don’t care what happens between the goal lines, yardage stats don’t end up on the scoreboard. That’s a trend that needs to continue because 14 ppg is championship caliber.

There's a long ways to go, but I won't deny that at present it does feel like the Bucks are 1 top complementary player short of being a championship caliber team. Who knows, maybe someone internally gets hot when it matters and can be the proper complement to Giannis. If nothing else, there is a good amount of depth on this roster, and maybe someone can unexpectedly be the Bucks version of Fred Van Vleet when the playoffs come around. I like the little bit I've seen from DiVincenzo. Maybe my...

The “Aaron Rodgers underthrowing a deep ball” is really becoming a problem. The secondary dropping game-changing interception is becoming a problem. This team has aspirations of championship glory, and the plays are there to be made, and they’re not making them. Rodgers apologists never want to talk about this, but he’s making the money he makes for a reason. He’s not supposed to be pretty good. He has to hit the target 99.9% of the time.

Really?! Can you help me out with the name of a QB that's done this, ever? The record for completion percentage in a season is held by Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints who completed 74.4% of his passes in 2018.

Re: + / -

Understand the context- a play caller sets a series of plays in motion, setting up a single high safety and a one on one matchup for a WR. You spend several play calls setting this up- waiting for the time to strike- and you get it. The WR has 2 steps on the nearest defender. It’s everything you were trying to accomplish... and the QBs underthrows the ball and allows a beaten defender back into the play causing an incomplete pass. From the guy who cannot miss that throw. That’s the context.

Re: + / -

Yes, I get the difference between intended outcome and what really happens. Wouldn't it be great if you could just spend a pile of money and know that everything will fall into place (see Kirk Cousins/Vikings)? Rodgers will make mistakes and miss some easy ones but I think he brings much more to the table to make up for them. Whether it's a $100M or some other number is just a factor of where NFL salaries are now. Do the Packers still beat the Chiefs if AR doesn't make a sick throw to...

You are correct. Let's hope he makes a graceful transition and changes his game accordingly. I think it's already begun with LeFleur's offense kind of forcing him to adapt for his own good. The Favre images are burned in my brain. The lasting one being his INT vs the Giants, NFC championship game. Ugh! He looked like a Popsicle, just wanted to get it over with.

Re: + / -

I think there were signs of decline even before this, but I agree this play sort of confirmed it. When Favre was winning MVPs, there was no hesitancy in his game. When he was a younger guy, he trusted his legs enough to go full bore to dive for a 1st down or TD. By that 2004/05 playoff game, he didn't trust his legs anymore and it caused some hesitation in his game that was costly at times. The good news.... that same hesitancy in his game would rear it's ugly head as a VIking when if he had...

They missed that pick, but is TJ Watt any better than Z. Smith? Gute recognized the weakness and hit a home run fixing it. King is never going to be a superstar, but he's a lot better than D. Randall, Goodson, and that group from the last NFC championship when Julio Jones was running wild.

No, they are better. How much more do you need to see? We got punched in the mouth in the regular season game. We’re down 17-0 and the Niners are gashing us in the run game, about to go in for six. There’s nothing wrong with admitting they are better. If we kid ourselves about how good we are, we won’t get where we want to get.

3 championship games in 6 years doesn’t mean shit. I like how 2011 was left out. Why? In the end either you advance or you don’t. Don’t is the operative word with this team.

In the end, you either get it, or you don’t. You clearly don’t. So I will explain it to you. We were 6-9-1 last year, and 7-9 the year before. We had a team with very little, talent wise. The new regime had to start basically from scratch. In the first year of the Gutekunst-LaFleur partnership, they’re going to go 14-4. If you can’t get past your Chicken Little-level of bullshit and see that this team is on the right track, you need to get some perspective.

Funny, I sort of agree with both of you. I think the team made great progress in 2019 under MLF and Gutey. I also agree that the Pack's 3 championship and other playoff appearances since 20111 don't mean shit. The Packers have some serious work to do if they want to be serious Super Bowl contenders in 2020.

+ We went 14-4. We were 6 inches on the last play of the last regular season game from hosting the NFC Championship. We have a HOF QB, a superstar WR, a stud RB, and a potentially HOF-level LT all under contract for next year. We have two edge rushers that were dominant pass rushers back next year. We have good, young players at DB. Jaire Alexander and Savage are both potential Pro Bowlers. Amos was a great pickup. King was frustrating at times, but he's better than every single DB the...

The Super Bowl features teams that showcase speed. It’s not a new NFL concept- you can’t teach it, and it rules the game when combined with execution. This season, the Packers lacked both. On defense, opponents time after time exposed Blake Martinez’s lack of speed- and the NFCC game was no exception. Sideline to sideline the 49ers stretched the Packers and cut them to pieces. Contrast that with what the 49ers defense did when the Packers tried to do the same, and the differences are...

I have to keep this season in perspective and look at this as Year 1 of a multi-year process of building a true championship team. It was entertaining for sure, but still still kind of hollow at the end. If there was one positive that came out of the 2 SF blow-outs, it's that Gutekunst and Murphy have a true measuring stick of where the talent level is and how far it still needs to go. Not having multiple top 10 draft picks is the price you pay for consistently being good but not great. But...
