Setting the Scene:

Packers sign kicker Zach Ramirez. Known as Zach Brown at Portland State, the undrafted rookie hit 17 of 18 field goals last season.

Zach Ramirez strolls into the  kicking competition with five days left in camp

For those willing to brave the 90-plus degree temps,  will practice at noon today. Only three more camp practices remain.

Last 3 practices of  camp today, tomorrow and Tuesday will be hot.

Supposed to be high of 93 today in Green Bay, which would make it hottest day of camp.

One of Smallest crowds of camp. Attendance estimate: 1000.

I have heard practice will last about 1.5 hours today.

This is not a full pads practice today. Could be an extended jog through.

Without further adieu, the ' kicking competitors

Injuries:

out: Bush, Nixon, Harris, Richardson, Hayward, Tramon, Burnett, Reed, B Jones, Tretter, Bulaga, Sherrod, Worthy

As expected, RB DuJuan Harris is not practicing. He hurt his knee vs. Seattle. He is present.

Brad Jones, Morgan Burnett and Casey Hayward all on sidelines with hamstrings. Bush, Nixon also out

practice: WRs Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are back.

QB Vince Young taking snaps with the 2s.

Through this long, unit period, Vince Young getting a ton of snaps. A lot of catching up to do as the new No. 2.

Skills and Drills:

The next period is ball drills. Scheduled for 3 minutes.

It's time for ball drills. McCarthy has to figure way for ball handling to carry over from practice to games.

Offensive line drill for ball security.

Look at the size of this pad around the injured right arm of TE Matthew Mulligan:

Matthew Mulligan returned with a big brace on his right elbow.

Tight ends at the jugs machine, including Mulligan with the brace on...

Matthew Mulligan with a wrap on right arm returns to practice

More of the tight ends...

Jake Stoneburner, Jermichael Finley and a JUGS machine.

Jake Stoneburner drops 2 at the jugs machine, has to do 40 push-ups.

EDS doing a ball drill.

Plenty of opportunity out there for all safeties in the room with Morgan Burnett out with hamstring injury...

Ball security for 3 minutes and then field goals. And then we're done.

More drill work for .

Ball security period. Here's Johnathan Franklin...

In other news,  QB Aaron Rodgers is now clean-shaven.

Aaron Rodgers and his new backup QB, Vince Young.

Rodgers and Young.

James Jones running through the pads..,

One wide receiver on the bubble: Tyrone Walker...

Aaron Rodgers to Jarrett Boykin. "Go."

A lighter quarterback contingent wraps up in ball security work

Jordy Nelson returns to practice

DJ Williams working on ball security.

And a look at Charles Johnson. He's been a full go...

Greg Van Roten practicing snaps off to the side, entire OL within inches of his helmet yelling. Simulating crowd noise, I guess.

Trgovac with pads over his arms this drill with the defensive line. Some big holes for Seattle backs Friday night.

STs:

Franklin n Hyde returning punts but this is punt cover period. Franklin drops first rep

meanwhile:

Jordy Nelson is running routes for Rodgers on the far end of the field.

Cobb is also running routes for Rodgers now.

back to STs...

Jugs machine punting today. Masthay could use the rest after busy Friday night.

Now Masthay is indeed punting. Boomed another one.

Casey Hayward just emerged from Don Hutson Center where he was rehabbing with others. Brad Jones, Burnett had been out here the whole time.

Ryan Taylor doin few snaps in punt period as emergency snapper, rolled first one back Masthay, second on target

Kickers are practicing kickoffs right now.

Jerron McMillian takes over on kickoff coverage for injured Morgan Burnett

Kickoffs coming. The wind is strong at the kickers' backs.

Masthay booms kickoff to fence about 12 to 14 yards beyond end line.

Masthay and Crosby kick it out of the end zone. Masthay's was better.

Tavecchio puts his kickoff 5 yards beyond end line.

Ramirez boots it about 10 yards further than anybody else.

FGs:

The kicking competition is underway. All 3 of them.

Going with crowd noise for FGs.

Field goals 35 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good.

New guy Zach Ramirez good from 35

41 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good. Crowd noise added to this.

Ramirez has a live leg. Gets good pop in his kicks

45 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio wide right, Ramirez wide right.

48 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good

50 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good.

Crosby could hit 100 in a row in practice and I still wouldn't trust him going into the season.

Ramirez has a strong, strong leg

Moving back up to 34 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good.

39 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good.

47 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good.

53 yards: Crosby wide left, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good

Oh boy, we're going to kick some 60 yarders

60 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio good, Ramirez good.

These are downwind but now going to 63

63 yards: Crosby good, Tavecchio wide left, Ramirez good. Well that was something

Those were long kicks but wind was strong n at their backs

Kicking competition results: Crosby 9-10 (miss 53 RH, Tavecchio 8-10 (45RH, 63, RH), Ramirez 9-10 (45 RH)

Practice ends after 1 hour and 37 minutes

Green Bay Packers Jason Wilde + Trust Despite release of Graham Harrell, @VinceYoung isn't acting like he's got the #Packers No. 2 QB job sewn up. Quote: "I’m not really feeling good about that right now. Right now, I’m just continuing to keep working. Things happened but that’s not my call. Right now, I’m just worried about continuing to get better as a quarterback to help the team in any way I can. "It’s all about the preparation. How much work I put in this week. The biggest thing is, what I love about here, you just tell Coach (Mike McCarthy) what you feel comfortable with and you don’t feel like it’s something you’re comfortable with, he’ll scratch it off. He does a great job of doing that. The biggest thing is preparation and getting yourself prepared to play each week." 11 minutes ago
