Here we go, kinda sorta real football. Well, at least for those fighting to make a roster.

One more step. Towards World Title #14, early next year.

I believe.

Silverstein with a short preview over at Packersnews.com, reproduced below (http://www.packersnews.com/sto...ngs-watch/543488001/) :

Green Bay Packers (0-0) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (0-0)

When: 7 p.m. Thursday.

Where: Lambeau Field.

Broadcast: Radio - WTMJ AM 620. Television – Packers Television Network across the state.

Injury report: Packers – DT Montravius Adams (foot), tight end Beau Sandland (knee) and cornerback Davon House (hamstring) are not expected to play; TE Richard Rodgers (undisclosed) and WR Colby Pearson (ankle) are questionable. Eagles – G Brandon Brooks (ankle), WR Alshon Jeffery (shoulder), QB Nick Foles (elbow), RB Wendell Smallwood (hamstring), WR Paul Turner (shoulder) and OL Josh Andrews (hand) may not play.

Five things to watch

1. Cutting corners: The Eagles are not very talented at cornerback, but defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz isn’t going to back off from playing man-to-man defense, which means Packers QB Brett Hundley needs to come out firing and show he can exploit match-up advantages with his receivers. Aaron Rodgers is being held out, so it’s Hundley’s show.

2. Five is a crowd: The coaches want to get a good look at rookie running backs Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones, Devante Mays and Kalif Phillips, but they also have to get starter Ty Montgomery some work. It’s not like he’s an experienced back. It’s better he work on pass protection when Hundley or Joe Callahan is in the game rather than Rodgers.

3. Putting on the kicks: Punter Justin Vogel was OK in the Lambeau Field practice Saturday night, but OK isn’t good enough. There should be some opportunities for him to kick away and he has to show he can consistently hit the hang times he has shown in practice. He may get to punt to former high school teammate Nelson Agholor, the Eagles’ first-round pick in 2015.

4. Super talented: Eagles coach Doug Pederson, who was a backup behind Brett Favre on the Super Bowl XXXI team, said before the start of camp he felt his team was as talented as that Packers team, which won it all under Mike Holmgren during the 1996 season. That’s probably a stretch, but if he’s right it certainly gives the 2017 Packers a good measuring stick.

5. Show me: Defensive coordinator Dom Capers said he is not going to hold back when it comes to working on his new defensive packages in the exhibition games. He indicated during the week that he would not be hesitant to use his “nitro” package because he thinks it’s more important for his players to practice it under game conditions than to hide it from future opponents. Expect rookie safety Josh Jones to see a lot of time playing at inside linebacker in the package.

IMO, Players to watch tonight:

S/ILB Josh Jones

CB Kevin KIng

CB Quinten Rollins

CB Josh Hawkins

QB Brett Hundley

TE Lance Kendricks (has been having an outstanding camp)

WR Mitchell Clark

OLB Kyler Fackrell

CB Damarious Randall

WR Trevor Davis

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The above should get extended playing time tonight so it will be interesting to see how they do.

What can we learn from tonight?

- Capers may or may not suck? Not to be answered tonight.

- WR Clark is this year's All-Oneida? I say this is likely.

- McCarthy Wil show +/- 3 stupid faces? I'm going with 2... State TV afterall.

- Rodgers will get more camera time than Taysom? Easily...

- Aarons Jones or Jamaal Williams as most likely to be #1 RB? While it's Ty''s job now, pass protection could be the decider as to who takes the most reps.

Whatever, we finally have football!

I bet we see more of Rodgers on the sideline than we'll see this lot combined.

One of the beat reporters was on the radio this morning (Michael Cohen), and thought McCaffrey would be the guy that leads the Packers in receiving yards this pre-season.  He also said the 6'6" guy Clark is practice squad material at best, too raw for the regular season roster and not good enough on special teams.

How many morans will be wishing for this guy after tonight?

@TyDunne: This year's NFL MVP front-runner, Giorgio Tavecchio, drillin' kicks from the 30s, 40s, 50s at Raiders camp. Chicken parm all around.

Money Crosby's batterymates better get their stuff together.

How soon we forget.

This is Janis! time.

Tarp is covering the field right now but field conditions will be another thing to watch. For neither team do I want to see pulled hammy's/strained abdomens/Rodgers-like-calf pulls etc.

Lambeau got hail about an hour ago and another big storm is arriving now;

One of many reasons I fukking hate playing 4 preseason games.

So.... is there a link the rest of us poor folk can use?

Learn TheGoatd

Go there, bookmark.

Scroll down, find the game, click link.  Find the tiny 'x' to close the pop ups.  Expand to full screen to get rid of ads.  Link may not go live until game time.

Don't download anything.

Close misc windows if they pop up.

Don't download anything.

Emergencies F4 is your friend.

Have good malware protection (though I never got anything from the goatd).

Enjoy.

I like to use it to stream Redzone too.  Plus once you learn it, you can stream about anything sports.

Early on, the defense looks in last season form.
Perry with a great play, only to be offside.
HHCD with a great play, followed by a whiff from Burnett.

Looks like we may actually have some pass rush.

Yep, this defense definitely has Capers' handprint ALL over it.
Force a 4th down, then give up the conversion.
Our million dollar OLB can't get the sack, and piss poor tackling downfield leads to PHI TD.
Oh, but that's not near enough.
Stop the 2 point attempt only to have a penalty.

Perfect.

Beautiful goatd stream here!

Didn't work for me.  Mich.Joe's link did though and it is waaay better than the Goat was last year.  Huge HD, no interruptions and some spirited live chat on the side.  Thanks Joe.

no one cares about them anymore, they did it to themselves

would be hilarious to see them go 0-5 against those jokers

Twinkies aint great but they are right in the WC race for the AL.

I was hoping for a better series, but then again, my ideal WS is Crew vs Twinkies...

I didn't see the 1st series of the game, but on that drive Hundley looks cool under pressure, and seems to be making excellent reads. He made a poor throw to Adams (albeit from the end zone), but made an excellent throw to Bennett.

I thought his arm got hit as he threw.... no replay to see for sure though

WTH was that ?
Defense forced a 4th down and scored a TD on the punt return?
Way to go guys!

Agreed!

Plays like this take a grocery bagger to the 53.   I remember when Howard was about to be cut.....

Interesting thing this year, there is no 1st cut, it all happens at once after the 4th preseason game.

Yeah great link from M Joe.

I'm "Casting" it using Shield to my 65" TV Damn good quality

I have never seen such good HD quality online.

Even Janis looks good on my computer.

Wow!
A lot going on at once.
Now that they showed some replays of the punt return, Janis made THE block that sealed the TD. Somebody had an excellent peel-back block to ensure it.

Gunt with the FFR! Great hustle on that play!

Williams running hard and looking good.

Hundley looked much better that drive. Made some excellent throws (and reads), the 1st down to Geronimo was great. Not to mention the pump fake AND beautiful throw on the TD.
Janis with the fake and reception!

After McGroin 11 for 11, throws the INT to Left Tackle Joe Thomas!

I agree with Doug Pedersen. This Eagle team has as much talent as the 96-97 Green Bay Packers

Better back up QB, for one.

Every time they say Matt McGloin all I hear is Pat Magroin.

The INT by Thomas was an excellent play for the defense.
Pass rush is still getting pressure, but they GOTTA learn to seal the deal.
Thomas should take some ribbing over letting a QB tackle him....

Defense has had an excellent quarter.
RJF with good pressure and a big play and King is playing solidly, if not well.

We've lost our way on offense.
Spriggs has a good play followed by a poor play.
Murphy had a poor play on the screen attempt.
Hundley completion to McCaffrey was a good play, though short of 1st down.

Vogel had a good punt. 51 yards plus a 10 yard penalty is a BIG FP swing.

Pistol GB posted:

King looking slow in the hips on that long completion.

Then with the good tackle on the next play.

Didn't Grave Digger see the same thing at practice?

Yes, looks good on plays in front of him, but looked bad twice in open space down the field.

I'm satisfied with that half: 6 points allowed, 17 scored, +2 in turnover differential. Had a couple blown plays, both looked like they were on King. The second one I saw seemed to be a miscommunication between King and Josh Jones. Two rookies blowing plays in their first NFL game, I'm not worried. Lots to clean up, but lots to like.

Lots of guys came over to pat Barclay on the helmet before he went into the locker room. That's typically a sign of a more serious injury. Not always, though.

Defense was allowing a poor drive on their next-to-last series.
Until King got pissed off!
He had the wtf completion against, but I didn't see any replays, so don't know what happened. But followed that up with 2 EXCELLENT plays resulting in the FF by Martinez.
Had another good tackle on their last drive that forced 4th down.

Thomas is having a good game.

WTH was McCaffrey doing on the route when he ran into Kendricks?
I have to assume a poor route or adjustment until I see otherwise, but that was an even poorer read and throw by Hundley. He knows better than to do that crap!

Looking at the replay, I think Hundley wanted to throw to the receiver behind the LB, not the one that they were covering.... he just never saw the LB stay in coverage.  Hence why the pass didn't lead the receiver.

It was a bad choice.

I hope streaming technology and availability have improved over the off-season; it sure looks like they have!
Can't speak to ded's link, but MI'Joe's is a thing of beauty. Beats the goat/first row streams by a mile. Thanks for the digs, guys!

I hope you do realize I expect the same all season long.....

It's definitely improved.   It wasn't that long ago when you couldn't see a ball kicked on a stream.

But, consider the load on the servers for tonight's game compared to regular season (and availability for that matter).   All of us cord cutters and out of state-ers are hoping for improvements!!!

Thx, Cave!
I hope to see that one soon.
Just thought it weird that McCaffrey actually ran into him. It was clear Kendricks was in the spot he wanted to be, but he couldn't cut in front of him.

Lol. Mike Glennon stunk up the joint in his B***s debut. First round pick doesn't f--- up, now we have a QB controversy already.

" @RichEisen:  The Mitchell Trubisky Parade set for Michigan Ave tomorrow at 11AM. "

Thx, ded!
I'm on your stream link now; MI'Joe's crapped out at the half. It's just as good if not better.

Not much happening in the game so far this half.
We've got some guys having pretty good games.
