I don’t buy the having Pettis to GB for a visit just so it’d come off as a smokescreen. Teams only get 30 visits so it’s not like they burn them up to throw other teams off.
I don’t doubt GB liked Pettis. He’s a great route runner. Sounds like the author has more of a problem with SF than anything else.
Gute said afterwards that they liked Pettis, but had Jackson rated higher & couldn't pass him up. No sense in "smoke screening" after the fact.
So here's McGinn's take in a nutshell.
Gutekunst did not draft the deepest positions, so that's a failure.
Alexander is too short.
Jackson is too slow.
Everybody else sucks.

McGinn was fair. He didn't blow happy smoke up peoples' asses, he pointed out good and bad in the selections.

If McGinn wants to had out bad grades there is a more deserving team to write for.
