NFCC has been damn active in FA. Now that I’ve marinated I’m very curious to see how it plays out. I’m sure there will be more to come.

Except for the vikings...........

So you don't believe that the "previous regime" didn't waste the prime of AR?

I hear putting together Super Bowl winning teams is a real black mark on a NFL resume.

PC meaning packerchatters?

Not to sound like a looney, but the Packers had a LOT of success all the way up until 2017.

They took some steps back in 2012/2013 but in 2014 were literally 1 play away from a Super Bowl appearance.  As recently as 2014, you really can't put too much fault in what TT had built.  Considering how close they really were and the fact that they actually had beaten the team who would become champs just a few weeks prior.

Now, I will agree with you that by early 2016, there were clear signs that the foundation was crumbling.  Aaron Rodgers went on an absolute tear the rest of that year to sort of push all those signs of impending doom into the background, but yes, that early part of the year they were starting to show what they would become in 2017 and 2018 (And that wasn't good!!).

In hindsight, I think when TT first came back from surgery a number of years ago, he sounded like a guy who was 100 years old.  I suspect that's when things really began to fall apart for his ability to keep the Pack humming like he always had been able to do.

So yes... if you pointed out that TT was beginning to stumble around 2015, you probably were right.  But TT had a hell of a track record before then, I can understand why the Packers' brass still wanted to keep him around for a couple extra years.  It was a mistake, but at this point, everyone's moved on, and let's just hope Brian Gutekunst can do half as good of a job as TT did because he really did an excellent job for quite a long time.

Great post. People tend to forget all the good.  I’m a Packer fan and I am excited today. I hope this approach pays off. But I’m also appreciate of the past 10 years. All the dumping on the previous regime is douchey.

I don't think Goosquatch is going to go full Spielman every year.  He's got some ground to make up so the signings make sense.  I highly doubt he's voiding building primarily through the draft because that would be beyond ****ing stupid.

Spending this much on these four is basically all in for them and trying to get back to the Super Bowl before Rodgers is done. Some of this money was not spent well at all.

I’ll revisit this topic in a few years to see how it played out... or maybe just 1 year.

Never mind, you are her equal

Gutey still has all his draft picks including both first rounders.

He's doing great!

Hey Grave Digger ....think the Giants are drafting a QB now that OBJ is gone?? And they have (2) 1st's?

I nominate this post as worst post of month.  After the 2014 season the Packers lost in overtime the the Seahawks in NFCC game.  In 2015 lost to Arizona, again in overtime in the 2nd round. In 2016 they again lost the NFCC game to Atlanta.  In 2017 Rodgers was injured most of the year. So tell us again how did the "previous regime" waste the prime of Rodgers career?   Must be because they let him get injured.

Yes, that's definitely part of it.  I think the Amos signing was solid and Zmith signing was definitely a big contract.  The oline signing was absolutely necessary.  Super Bowl or not, that oline is disintegrating.

Considering the OLB signings I wonder if both sides of the trenches may be seeing more action in the draft.  Pettine likes a versatile 5 technique.

Any words from Pettine on these moves, or is GB not officially allowed to comment yet? Gotta admit, the D got tougher and more durable on paper at least. Should be interesting how Pettine puts this together.

Basically - Excalbur needs to STFU because he has NFI what he's talking about.... Annnnnnnyyyyywaaaaayyyyyy

John Dorsey doing a helluva job as GM for Chiefs & now Browns

I get the frustration that goes hand in hand with missing the playoffs the last two years. Sports, more than any other form of entertainment, lends itself to a "what have you done for me lately?" mentality.

But that disappointment has to come with some perspective. Yes, Ted Thompson's last few draft classes were subpar, especially 2015. Yes, the cupboards needed some serious restocking, and it's clear that Ted's approach hamstrung the team. The game constantly evolves. Your front office guys either evolve along with the game, or get left behind. The moves at GM, HC and DC were needed...badly.

But completely trashing the past regime is just foolish. Let's not forget that the Packers went to the playoffs seven years in a row, made it to the NFC Championship Game four times with Thompson as the GM, and won a Super Bowl. From memory, only the Patriots had more wins during Thompson's tenure in Green Bay than the Packers. We'd all like to win the Super Bowl every year, but winning in the NFL is hard. And while TT was in charge, there was a hell of a lot more good than bad. Yes, Mike McCarthy probably needed to go a few years ago. It's easier to find a Head Coach than it is a Hall of Fame quarterback, and tension clearly existed between McCarthy and Rodgers. And Dom Capers? Well, you guys all know my feelings about him. I wanted him gone a few years ago, too. But that doesn't mean I held any ill will towards the man himself. The NFL is a cold business, and sentimentality should never play a role in business decisions. The Packers, for whatever reason, were constantly playing from behind the eight ball on defense. Injuries played a role, yes, but I think it was more due to antiquated thinking/schemes, and poor player assessment and development. Fresh thinking was needed in Green Bay, and changes have been made.

So, while we're giddy about the moves today, anticipate more free agency moves that could help this team, and go into the draft with a whole bunch of ammunition, let's not dump on the men that skippered the Packers franchise during what was a long, successful run.

I searched who the Packers have tendered this year and this was the first result...

“I know people sometimes pound their meat. I never do, and I am interested in what I am missing out on. Basically it comes down to a three part question:

Why is meat pounded, what is the result that one wants? I'd be happy to learn both the gastronomical purpose, and what really happens to the meat (fibres etc)
What types of meat should I pound? What types would possibly be a bad idea to pound?
What should I think of when pounding to get a good result?”

All good questions.

Any word on where any of our three departing $10,000,000+ a years "stars" (Cobb, Matthews, and Perry) might be heading?

I guess Nick just got notice he no longer has a spot in the Pack's hot tub, but how about Clay and Randall?

Surely multiple teams are fighting to sign these two up, right?
