Glen Campbell is all over my playlist.

Beethoven's Ninth Symphony was set to the poetry of Friedrich Schiller.

Billy Joel's Allentown
Really? Listen to Allentown compared to Springsteen's "Youngstown" ...similar themes but Joel's lyrics are JV compared to Springsteen's varsity. I mean "we're living here in Allentown, where they've taken all the coal from the ground" is not exactly "deep". Compare that to "From the Monongahela valley to the Mesabi iron range; To the coal mines of Appalachia, the story's always the same
Seven hundred tons of metal a day, now sir you tell me the world's changed
Once I made you rich enough, rich enough to forget my name"

Hell yeah. One of my great regrets is that I never saw Cambell live before he had to stop touring due to Alzheimers.
Sometimes Iβll pull up YouTube and listen to nothing but Glen Campbell songs for an hour or 2. He was something special.

Was that Uncle Fester on piano?
@phoe93
Very poignant documentary on his last tour on Netflix I believe.
Little known fun fact....Glen was a guitar genius...was a member of The Wrecking Crew (Google 'em) and toured with the Beach Boys for a bit.
Ode to Billie Joe.
Wow... A Wrecking Crew reference on X4! Mad props for that one BK. Carol Kaye with some memorable bass lines, the legendary Hal Blaine and a whole list of masters. So damn many hit songs in the 60's that they actually recorded. Frank & Nancy Sinatra, The Monkees, The Beach Boys, The Association, The Mama's & Papa's, etc., etc. The list is mind blowing. Poor Hal made millions and ended up broke. He wasn't good with money or his choice in women.
They just donβt make toothy broads like Tenille any more
There's a Wrecking Crew documentary on YouTube that's well worth the watch. It's fascinating and Hal Blaine is a hell of a story teller. They showed up to record some music for a movie score at one of the Hollywood studios and the Orchestra musicians were shocked at how proficient The Crew was at reading the charts and laying down the tracks in one or two takes. Blaine told them, "We practice a little bit during the day." π
Looking forward to watching TJ Slaton.

Whoβs that?
Take the Slaton talk out of the music thread.

Yes. Jackie Coogan and Philippa Fallon from High School Confidential. Also from the same movie, Rusty Tamblyn and Mamie Van Doren:

Nice Mamies.
Just watched documentary called Echos in the Canyon. All about the 60βs music made and recorded in the LA area known as Laura Canyon.
I loved it and enjoyed it but it was interesting to look at it thru some youngsters eyes. If you have an interest in music I recommend it.
Oh, Guy Clark is just one of many poets I enjoy.
Laurel Canyon
Laura Canyon was my sisters porn name.
My sister went by Slutty McWhorePants.
Needless to say there wasn't much subtlety in the plot line.
A great line by an underrated poet,
βMy future is a beautiful mysteryβ.
Thats some deep shit right there.

The towel monogramming got expensive too.
What does Slaton have to say about all of this?

Pointers.
The Wrecking Crew!!!!
@Goalline posted:Most popular music songs mean nothing to me. I don't listen to lyrics. The large majority of them are really stupid. Musicians are terrible poets.
Jackson Browne, James Taylor and Dan Fogelberg say "fuck off".
Okay, maybe they didn't actually, but I do.
Regarding Slaton....maybe. We'll see. The Packers didn't get much out of Montravious, and he was a 3rd. Keke, another 5th, looks promising but is already going into his third season. Khyri Thornton, another 3rd, was, yep, another bust. So I'll hold my breath on a 5th rounder. Wouldn't be surprised if he's a non-factor this upcoming season.

I'm getting excited about this kid. He can cut 25 pounds in a hurry, that's awesome.
When you read the guy was a legit basketball prospect at 350 that's saying something. If he can contribute his rookie year that would be huge. I don't expect it but it would say something if he really could.

Just read that Keke had his bell rung and it affected him all season. So hopefully he gets back in the rotation so we don't have to see Lancaster and Lowry as much.

I think this is it Henry. It's about an hour and 45 minutes long.
Once as a kid saw Glen Campbell in a warming up lava lamp. From a certain angle.
@Henry posted:Hopefully he goes full Johnny Jolly minus the sizzurp.
I've heard several people make that comparison. Agree with others that he appears to be a boom-or-bust player, but that's fine considering where he was drafted.
Here's hoping he's a boom, but I think he's a longshot to have an impact.
Due to his size and the fact the Packers assigned him #93 it is quite obvious he will soon be know as D J ( Digger Jr.) aka Grave Digger aka Gilbert Brown. If only he is half as good as Digger he will be fine!
