Rodgers has slimmed down, built muscle mass and has been training hard per reports and social media.

BTW, that other dude is Eric Stokes.

It's the annual hand-wringing over how skinny 12 looks. I saw pics of of him recently at the Tahoe golf event...he didn't look as skinny as he did in 2021 at the Kentucky Derby.

12 is best when staying in the pocket and throwing from there...stats support that. He stayed upright all of last year without his BFF guarding his blind side. I have no reason to believe yoga-bro version of 12 will be any thing but fine physically.

What I am more concerned with is, can he run this offense like it's supposed to be run since 17 has left? If he can, I believe the offense will be fine. It will lack a bit of explosiveness, but I also feel like we have the horses, Watson and Watkins, to make those explosive plays...and I am hopeful Tyler Davis gives us what Big Bob gave us pre-injury.

Because there is no Jordy or Gerg or Davante or even going back to no Donald, I really don't think Rodgers will have much choice but to run the offense and stay within the system.

The only "fly" in that ointment is if he hyper focuses on someone like Watkins (think Jimmy Graham early on) or Cobb but I think having Tom Clements back will help that. Clements and MLF should be fairly harmonious in telling Rodgers to stick with the script and pointing out the benefits of that.

It may look pretty dink-n-dunk, but hey if it moves the chains and bleeds the clock, so be it.

I will never underestimate 12's ability to lock-in on a guy and die on that hill...Kumerow...pre-retirement Cobb...maybe Lazard becomes his new guy. But as PH stated, 33 is also a big factor in this offense...he may well be the most explosive WR we have right now.

This lock on version of Rodgers was created in 2018, the year that Nelson left. From 2018 and on, Adams usually had double the targets or more than anyone else on the team. Before that?

2017
Adams - 117
Cobb - 92
Nelson - 88

2016
Nelson - 152
Adams - 121
Cobb - 84

2015
Cobb - 129
Jones - 99
Adams - 94
Rodgers - 85 (DICK FUCKING RODGERS, 85 targets!!)

He's going to spread the ball around like he did pre-2018. He's got no choice. There's no Adams or Nelson on this team until someone steps up and becomes that kind of guy. Rodgers may be stubborn but he's not stupid.

Rodgers had 58 catches on those targets. Did he have 58 total yards after the catch. He made the fossilized version of Marcedes Lewis we have now look elusive.

Why would that worry anyone considering he is A) a 4 time MVP and 2) He's done just fine when Devante was out with injury.

He did have some good hands to be fair.

He was still better than stumblin and bumblin Bubba Frank's. And Ed " Toolbox" West was no Fred Astaire!

When the pads come on, one of the beat reporters keeps track of the W/L during one vs one battles. Lots of fresh meat on both sides of the LOS, should be entertaining.

IF the defense can win their 1 vs 1s on Sunday- then that makes Joe Barry's job a lot easier

from Sharp Football: Unit Ranks

( apparently we gotta nice unit)

Green Bay Packers

No one generated pressure on non-blitzes at a higher rate than Green Bay (32.8%) 一 a particularly important stat in Joe Barry’s defense which ranked in the bottom 10 in blitz rate. That production helped boost the front seven into the top 10 in our unit ranks going into 2022.

Don't forget Jones. He's like having an extra WR out there and he's already got that connection with 12.

I strongly disagree with this.  He is a great receiving RB, but he is not like having an extra WR..   We had success when we could get him mismatched against a LB out wide, but he isn't beating NFL CB's on the regular.

Here he is beating a CB for a 75 yarder.

It doesn't matter what label ( RB/WR) you put on him - Jones is a weapon in the passing game and a viable threat vs zone or man coverage.

Beating a CB for 75.

Or unathletically letting a DB catch him while also awkwardly cutting towards him just to make sure to not even have a chance of getting to the endzone.

Kind of a potayto, potahto thing really.

Good plan B if Hill isn't ready early in the year. But I like Hill better than Goodson.

Thought Taylor played well against the Lions and he's in the conversation too.

Like Goodson, but Packers have pretty good RB depth and it'll be an uphill climb for him (likely PS candidate).

Welp, he's another pass catching RB named AJ Dillon making a top 10 (according to PFF) , Pro Bowl LB completely whiff on a tackle and Dillon making a huge play.

There are also other snips of Jones beating starting corners lined up outside and flat running a great route and using his hands as good as WR I have seen.

Different skillset IMO...Goodson brings us something we have lacked since Tyler Ervin...I expect Hill to start on the PUP list since 9 months is pretty aggressive on an ACL recovery. Although the prognosis is usually better on someone sub-225lbs than it is someone north of 300.

That is what we like to call a "blown coverage."    He didn't beat a CB on this play.

Happy now? Nice route. Nice hands. Beautiful catch. Against a CB

Well it's unlikely that a CB will be regularly matched up with Jones. And Jones has WR skills and runs WR routes. So yeah, he's like having another WR out there. If they use him in this role more often in 2022 he will draw CB's more often. And it's going to be the 3rd or 4th CB on the other team. I'll take that matchup all day.

Not really TC related but PFF (everyone's favorite rating system) has been slowly releasing their top 50 players in the NFL as of right now. Already 4 Packers on the list and there's still 20 players to go.

Jaire - 22
Bakh - 23
Amos - 40
Gary - 49

Corey Linsley is 33rd

Who else will make it? Rodgers obviously. Kenny Clark? Jenkins? Jones? Campbell?

What if "someone north of 300" feels like 225? Why must you shame people?

How is Bakh on that list? He's played 20 snaps since he was injured.

Something GB and MLF really needs to get back to in 2022. What happened to all the pre-snap looks from 2020? Motions, bubble screens, end arounds, etc all confused defenses (including some really good ones like the Rams). Gotta get back to this.
