Maybe Romeo is off to a great start cause he's wearing Jordy's number and 12 is having flashbacks!!  Seriously if the reason he dropped to rd 4 was his work ethic and getting paid makes him play like Randy Moss - then please pay him.

I hope no one is surprised Watkins had the surgery a week before camp, GB didn't sign him until that moment so why all the angst.  Seriously  the first time Watson runs by the Viking secondary no one will be complaining about getting that foot cleaned up during TC.

He's not one of those guys that plays great in shorts but not in uniform is he? That's the next thing we need to see is him Mossing guys with pads and full contact.

He did fine in pads in college, word was he didn't always give max effort in practice, and if he felt like he wasn't getting targets he'd pout.

I think Herman is getting a little too revved up about this kid at the moment. Let's see what he does in pre-season, and even more importantly in September.

He did mention  in the video that it was too early to judge Doubs and included a lists of busts like DJ Williams, who had shown the same level of success in shorts.

do we know when they go to padded practices?

"On Thursday the limit was 105 minutes and allowed for helmets and protective shirts. On Friday they can go for as long as two hours but again in helmets and protective shirts.  On Saturday they can add shells to their protective gear – that is, mini-shoulder pads. After a mandatory day off Sunday, they’re scheduled to add regular shoulder pads on Monday. And then Tuesday they’ll add football pants and thus be in full pads."

Where are you getting this? All I've read on Doubs paints just the opposite picture

He also said his career will fall somewhere between J'Mon Moore and Davante Adams. Herman clearly got carried away in his excitement about Doubs but he qualified it appropriately.

meh i don't mind the guy being excited about his team, i think of him not as a reporter but a fan with credentials...he technically writes but he is an entrepreneur who's excited about the packers, i am down with that.  the locked on guy I don't care for, now that there is more packer news, i stop following him.

If Gary stays healthy, that dude could have one hell of a year. Especially with a now much more talented and solidified ILB corps and if Preston Smith can look like the 2021 version.

This whole DL should be a nightmare for most OL's to try and defend.

Always, a grain of salt this early in camp:

Romeo Doubs continues to make plays, so it’s no surprise the media is overreacting. They did the same thing a few years ago when another rookie wide receiver drafted in the middle rounds got off to a hot start in training camp. And while I think Doubs is a much better prospect than Trevor Davis, it’s important to point out that the first two practices were padless and a few of his catches have come against cornerbacks who won’t be on the roster a month from now. Doubs has talent, but without one physical trait that really stands out, I still question whether he’ll be able to get open against quality corners. So while his first few days of camp are certainly encouraging, let’s not put him in Canton just yet.

I couldn't even remember DJ Williams. Tells you how fast that guy disappeared.

I thought Doubs draft stock was low due to his 40 time and playing at Nevada. The Packers have a long history of turning WR's not blessed with great speed into great WR's.

Not going to out the people who told me, but suffice it to say people that coached and worked with him in Reno. Additionally two NFL scouts told me that was one of the knocks, and why he fell to the 4th round.

There were plenty of knocks on 17 too coming out of college, and none of them amounted to a hill of beans. Hopefully the same ends up being true of Doubs.

17 ran like shit coming out too and played in the same conference. Can't speak on Doubs because I don't have the direct knowledge, only info from others with direct knowledge and they told me "his work ethic wasn't always the best." Don't know if that was early in his career and he grew out of it, or if it's still an issue.

I watch 17 practice weekly from the minute he stepped onto campus in Fresno, and knew he worked his ass off from day 1. It was never something he had to "grow into," but he is obviously a rare bird. I had no idea he'd achieve the level he has, but I knew if he worked as hard in the NFL, he'd have a career.

Not hating on Doubs, just saying there were questions about him that caused him to drop to the 4th round.

Donald Driver was a 7th rounder. Javon Walker was a 1st rounder. MVS was a 5th. Sometimes you just never know

Perhaps Doubs was just fully enjoying the college life and all that comes with it, instead of being singularly focused on football? But from the posted link he was all business when it came time for practice. Lots of kids in college have partied, studied, chased after girls etc. But, now that this is his job with high earnings he might be more diligent in in his work ethic, while still maintaining some other outside interests.

Also, Doubs likes the doobs. That likely factors into work ethic.

I feel exactly the same. Andy Herman is awesome.
