Baker Mayfield status

This whole Baker Mayfield thing is so crazy.  I think Baker is actually a pretty good QB that could be a top 10 QB but he probably should have shut it down for 6-8 weeks when he tore his labrum.  At the same time, Baker is an a***ole that polarized not just his locker room, but the entire front office and coaching staff.  And Baker is not quite good enough to deal with such polarization.

No clue what happens with him.  There doesn't seem to be a spot for him as a starter in 2022 unless the Browns pick up like 80% of his salary.  But Browns aren't even sure that Watson is going to play a full 17 games so if they're paying 80% of his salary to play elsewhere, may as well pay him 100% and keep him as insurance in case Watson is suspended.  And with Baker going to free agency in 2023, Browns have to assume he'll play nice.  Not even Baker is petty enough to sabotage his own free agency to stick it to the Browns.  Or is he?

Baker may be unhappy with all of this but welcome to life as a non-elite QB.

WR Marquise β€œHollywood” Brown says Packers and Chiefs both contacted Ravens about draft day trade but he wanted to go to Cardinals.

Giving a post-trade interview to ”I Am Athlete”— which is hosted by former NFL players Brandon Marshall and Legar Douzable β€”

β€œWhen the Ravens and you talked about this trade,” asked Douzable during the interview, β€œdid you kind of get to choose where you wanted to go? And did you and Kyler Murray’s history play into you choosing where you wanted to go?”

β€œI told them I would like to go to the Cardinals,” replied Brown. β€œI think the Chiefs were in play [and] the Packers were in play; the Chiefs and Packers made a play toward the end. You know the Cardinals: they came through and came and got me. So I’m very fortunate to them.”

I don't get these announcer salaries.  I have never watched a game based on who is announcing it.  I don't even remember who announced the most memorable Packer games I've watched in my life.  The announcing is completely irrelevant to my enjoyment of the game (as long as it's not just flat out terrible).  I just don't get these crazy salaries.

Not knowing in the inner workings of individual’s decisions and all the financial details involved in the decision making processes, it would seem like the idea of playing in GB isn’t overly appealing to a lot of WR’s. Could be $, could be something with AR, could be family things with the player in question. Who knows.

I’m personally of the opinion that the idea of playing up in Northern WI doesn’t appeal to a ton of guys. Before you try and destroy me, remember it’s just an opinion, but IF GB was an option for any of these WR, then there’s definitely been a trend not to choose GB, ie. Adams (some will say proximity to family) , OBJ, Landry (is from La). I just think playing GB doesn’t trump all these other factors.

I know  I personally feel that playing in GB is a no brainer given tradition, current success and a good QB.  My point is that I don’t really feel that resonates with a lot of players. There are most definitely exceptions, but I think these guys are rare.

The more I think about it I’m not trying to project this opinion on everyone, it’s just been something that I’ve come to the realization of.

Seems awful appealing to LB's (Campbell and Smith) and DB's(  Douglas)

Most WR's all diva's anyway. (Cobb being an exception)  Who needs all that shit. Rather have guys who work hard and trying to prove something.

What do you think's gonna happen with Jefferson and what about what's happening with Samuel. They think they need to get paid like a TV analyst!

Find it maddening that media & most fans just look at the $ and football situation when speculating on players staying / leaving. For many of these guys there is a wife / significant other involved whose preference for where they live has nothing to do with football. Perhaps Adams' wife has someone close to her that lives in Vegas, who knows, could be any number of reasons they made the decision they did.

You have to love the seasons and be all about football to live and play in Green Bay.

Outside of the weather I don’t mind NE Wisconsin.  Good place to raise a family, plenty for most people to do, cost of living is pretty reasonable.

Then again, I’m a 50 year old white married guy.  And yes, as soon as our daughters are finished with HS it’s likely we are getting out of dodge.

As for Adams, I wish him well.  He busted his ass for this team and gave everything he could.  If he and his family wanted to move to Vegas more power to him.

The primary reason is that Adams wanted to play with Carr, his best buddy & college teammate.
