I don't camp out there or anything but I know that I absolutely hate when I want to read something demovsky wrote, i have to hear 25 ads and 5 different videos start...i just don't go there anymore...he would tweet out something, i would click on it, it would go to something that didn't even line up, you would have to go 20 sections down to see something.  not for me a timewaster site.

I honestly have sworn off of ESPN for a few years now.  The only time I will watch is their college football coverage and when the Packers play on MNF. Besides that? Maybe the occasional MLB game. but overall ugh no thank you.  I can list the reasons why I hate them.

ESPN insider.  You can't read most stories anymore without insider access

They seem to be more concerned with being like TMZ anymore than reporting on sports.  An example is the stupid Barkley vs. LeBron thing last week

The constant pushing of the NBA. I like the NBA to a point but they have morphed in to the Warriors, LeBron, and NBA network.  It seems like all they talk about is the NBA.

If you have sworn off ESPN for a few yrs now how do you know what they were doing last week?

John Anderson is a big deal on ESPN. It's no secret he's a huge Packer fan. He spent his childhood growing up one mile away from Lambeau Field next to John Muir Park.

So how in the big blue hell does he become a Bear fan twice a year because of his love for Sweetness? We're talking about an 18 year old turning coat on Green Bay while living under the shadow of Lambeau while his entire family is all in on everything Packers.

I wanted to like this. But I can't.

My last love was Mike & Mike, and ESPN F'd that up too.
The chemistry between Golic & Greeny was special!

Not that I support ESPN but Greeny and Golic F'd it themselves.  It was so bad at the end the only time they talked to each other was on the show itself.  When Golic said Greenburg was stupid he really meant it.

You really have to wonder what the future holds for that network

If your morning ratings are being beaten by Peppa the pig on Nickelodeon you may be in serious trouble.  I used to have ESPN on when I got ready for work, listened to Mike and Mike on the way in to work, and watched sportscenter when I got home.

Somewhere along the line they just lost their way and thought that we wanted commentary/politics mixed with our sports.  I for one watch sports to get away from that every day crap.  And yet they still are dumb enough to think that is what most people want.

Where ESPN screwed the pooch is they got greedy and started gouging customers and then they were late to respond to the mobile phone and streaming video content era which has pretty much sealed their fate.

Every once in a while I will tune in (did today on vacation) and turned it off quick.  When Booger McFarland is one of your stars you have major problems.

At some point not long after Craig Kilborn stopped doing SportsCenter, I stopped watching.

It was must see viewing for me when it was Dan Patrick and Keith Olberman. Those two seemed to be aware of being oversanctimonious about sports and seemed to be having fun. I also liked Linda Cohn and Bob Ley (and still like the Outside the Lines pieces).

I never cared for Stuart Scott's style (or Chris Berman's for that matter) and the show became more and more of guys trying to develop a shtick. I haven't watched it in years.

espn has been wading through the nastiest sewage imaginable to get in bed with people of low moral turpitude for years on end.
Now they're going to find out the REAL cost of paying for that.

Boo-hoo.

Exactly. Skip Bayless, Cowherd, etc. may no longer work there but there strategy was to appeal to the lowest common denominator and get people agitated and angry so they keep watching (like Olbermann when he went to NBC or the entire prime time lineup of Fox News).

Amen to this!  I'm down to Dan Patrick and  local sports radio.  Sports talk/viewing is supposed to be a release from the every day grind.  Same with movies/entertainment.  I don't care about political leanings of celebrities.

Exactly right.  And I think they still do it with Screamin A. Smith and that other clown he argues with all the time.

I also am down to local sports radio after work and I do on occasion listen to Clay Travis in the morning.  The only programming I can take from ESPN is their college football coverage which I think is still solid.

I do not watch NFL games that ESPN airs.  I might if the Packers are playing.  But all the interviews and missed plays take away from the one thing I want to see - the game.  And sometimes I don't listen to "The Fast Lane" either.  More and more they trash a team for actions they make by saying nothing about the reasons why those actions were made.  It has become one sided and gets frustrating to listen to after a while.

Other than catching Fowler and crew on College Game Day, Bob Ley on Outside The Lines (which ESPN has tried to bury and kill many times with terrible time slots), or 30 for 30 there is literally zero reason to watch or listen to anything broadcast by ESPN.

They still have some people like Wright Thompson that can crank out great long reads for the web site.

I don't think it was a very good idea starting this thread.

Pretty soon we are going to have a couple of ESPN commentators over here trash talking and mucking up all of our threads.  Just look what happened the last time we had a "________ Suck" thread.

I'll enjoy inviting Greeny over here
