Her first solo album was as good as any the Cranberries released. Her second was just OK, but she could sing the phone book and I’d listen to it. She really made me a fan of the Irish and British female vocalists. Florence Welch, Harriet Wheeler (the Sundays), Adele, Hannah Reid (London Grammar), Jessie J...they just all sing the hell out of whatever they can.

I’ve been bummed at the death of musicians before, Chris Cornell hit me hard, but this one was a massive gut punch. Dolores got into the business at 17, and pretty much grew up in it. She battled bipolar disorder and massive back problems...both of which limited what she could do in the last 10 years. I was really excited because reports of late made it seem like she had gotten both her bipolar and back issues in check and was back recording in London with the Cranberries.

She had done a lot in 30 years in music but yet I feel short changed because I don’t think her work was done.

Mostly I feel for her kids...just $hitty they gave to grow up without their mom.
