EAA time in Oshkosh again.  I live on one of the flight paths going up to Oshkosh so get to see quite a few planes as they head up there. I also used to help out at a booth up there when I worked at John Deere. My favorites are the WWII looking planes that go over in waves, from smaller to bigger. I surmise that they meet somewhere and then go up as a group. Last year I quit counting at over 100.

From humble beginnings to being the busiest airport in the world this week. I remember back in '73 it was just a little "convention" with a few enthusiasts and a nice young man invited me to the grounds. I had never heard of it before. Now it's crazy big and I'm hoping that Harrison Ford isn't flying in this year. If he is, I hope he approaches from anywhere but the south!

I like looking at the planes, but I am very content staying on the ground!

My son and I were at EAA when two P-51's were landing together and one tipped the other and both crashed.  One pilot died.  I am thinking maybe 2003 or so.  They were coming in from the south.  My dad would go every year.  During his retirement he was a tour guide at the EAA museum.  When I retire soon, one of the things I want to do is go to places like EAA, the naval air museum, or the wright-pat museum and help restore airplanes.
