If he could do that why would he need to leave the team?

Because he was accused of sexual assault. The process must play out- assuming guilt or innocence by the activity is reckless.

Seems awfully difficult to imagine one guy cornering two women for non-consensual sex. I have only seen the articles though... more details have to be released but it certainly seems there is more to it than two chicks and a dude.

Man, this whole topic is so tough.

I'm the father of a daughter, and I'm also former college athlete who went to plenty of parties...

Alcohol, youth and libidos are a pretty dangerous mix.

They could be lying....or he could be a creep---unless there were witnesses, how do you prove (or disprove) the accusations?

Gotta love the #me too# movement.  2 girls get annihilated at a bar, meet Cephus, go home with him to his apartment, and have a threesome.

Afterwards, the one regrets it so bad she goes to the hospital where she claims rape and requests a SART exam,  then calls the other one and convinces her she was raped too, even though the other one didn’t remember having sex.

Here’s what the accuser tells police: The 2 girls were wasted and went home with him, and “somehow” all 3 got naked. Here’s the rape part:

”I was shocked because I have no memory of it,” she told police. “I was grossed out. We don’t know this guy. I was so very confused. I was thinking how could this happen? I know I would never consent to have sex with someone I didn’t know.”

This is called “rape” now. Most of us remember it being called “shame” and “regret.”

Wonderful. Thanks honey. I mean, what’s a man’s life, freedom, reputation and career compared to your regret, right?

Truth or another Gold-Digging whore?

This doesn't sound like one of those cases to me from what I've heard on the radio.  2 women were involved and 1 woman went to the ER the night of the incident.

Edit:  This case doesn't quite fit the gold digging profile to me.

Neither. #Metoo has trained these girls to call drunken consensual sex they regret “rape.”

I was reading about this other college kid got accused the same way. Charges filed and everything after a coed said she was taken advantage of while drunk. UNTIL OOPS her friend had made a video of her saying “I’m taking that guy home with me” and made a lewd gesture on video before leading the guy away.

After the dismissal, the falsely accused kid was all, “Yeah but I lost a whole semester and everybody demonized me so bad I had to change schools! What about me? “

No one cares kid, you’re a rapist. Deal with it.

I am in no way defending Cephus but from what I have read one of the girls (maybe both) were so drunk they had to be helped off the floor of the bar they were at.   So my question is how do you get testimony from two girls who don't even remember anything?   Don't get me wrong I will never defend a rapist but I can't shake the feeling there is a lot more to this story.

So he had sex with girls that were so drunk they had to be scraped off the floor of a bar? That's the literal definition of rape. How can a girl that drunk give any kind of consent?

Totally and completely agree that it is the text book definition of rape.  And as hungry5 just said if that is the way it happened its rape and in my book lock him him up and throw away the key.

My one question that does make me curious is why does it take so long to charge someone? I have zero idea how this stuff works and does it normally take that long?

EKB:   I hear ya, but I'd venture to say the guy in the link below disagrees.  He'd be serving decades based on the woman's accusation.  Same exact kind of scenario as Cephus  ("I was too drunk to give consent").  Same ages of the parties, same kind of setting.  Decades in prison.

Until the video disproved her completely.

What if there was no video?   Decades of the young man's life.

I guess he'd be considered a Mulligan to an otherwise progressive movement?  I'm not sure that's progress.

The reports are the one girl sat down on the dance floor at one point and "had to be convinced to get up."  I don't see that anyone said they were falling down or passed out, or even that she had to be helped up. Not sure how that's textbook anything.

That would suck for him.  But remember, anecdotes don't equal data.  This is a ****ty story with no real justice, but in the grand scheme of things, I hope #metoo makes a better world for my daughter and I'm not nearly as worried it will hurt my son.

We all need to raise our kids not to be assholes.
