someone said it some time ago on this site.  i am sick and tired of watching our ilb's chasing 5 yards downfield.  get ilb mosely and draft devin white if he's there.  that's an upgrade.  i am not sure how i feel about collins, i like thomas better - i mean collins has alot of positives, but he really reminds me of jones - so at 11m or so, get mosely and/or thomas and draft...draft! (now watch we will draft a te or ol...

Who would we rather have, Thomas or Collins? Can't have both.

Collins. Younger & didn't get hurt but Thomas would most likely be that veteran stabilizing presence. Although I think Collins could grow into that "veteran presence" role too.

Collins, final answer, if Pack can only have one.

Many have said that but Henya sticks out.  That trend started with Hawk.  Lots of tackles but few of them had any impact.  GB has needed a MLB worth his salt for years.  TT repeatedly failed at that position.

Eric Weddle cut by Ravens. Although 34, he still seems to be playing at a high level and has not missed a game in at least three years.

Well we all know he would most certainly pull a hammy getting his luggage at the GB airport if he signed.  All kidding aside I would only sign a 34 year old safety as a last resort.

The FA/Trade market looks again to be flush with quality safeties. No reason, NONE, that the Packers shouldn't be able to instantly upgrade that position even if that means they don't go after Collins or Thomas. Plenty of talent well beyond duds like Brice

I think Earl Thomas solves more problems for our defense being a top FS. He's the model for the defensive center-fielder you need....but man his injury history and price tag scare me. Collins is a very good player but is more of a "box" safety as has been mentioned. Probably too much being made of his coverage issues as I'm guessing Pettine would make him very useful compared to the crap we currently have.

Tash Gipson ?? Let's talk !!!! Good player.

Where did I read that none of Barr's sacks have come by beating an OL?

I saw on Twitter that he's never beaten an OL 1on1 a single time in his career. Any ideas of him as a quality pass rusher are purely speculative and have no evidence to support. Mike Zimmer may be a dick and a mediocre HC, but he's a top defensive mind in this league and I have a hard time believing he just didn't know how to use Barr.

He'd come to GB as a Viking Trojan horse though widely loved by our fans.

Certainly Barr has all the physical measurements you look for from a pass rusher and he showed skill as a pass rusher at UCLA, but in the NFL he's been a solid run stopper, a solid blitzing off-ball LB, and pretty mediocre in coverage. Minnesota has two quality pass rushers, but even when they haven't had them it's not like Barr was the top backup at DE...Zimmer's no idiot, there's a reason Barr wasn't rushing the passer more frequently and why they're letting him walk. Taking a chance that Mike Smith can get him straightened out as a 34 OLB is fine, I'm not sure it's worth gambling at the >$10M salary he will command.

There are a lot of twitter politicking for the Packers to sign Earl Thomas.  It does not make to sense to me to sign a FA safety for >$10 MM/yr at a position that is being devalued.  Thomas is a premier safety, but is no Charles Woodson.  Yes, Gute needs to sign a FA safety and has options, but a FA pass rusher is of greater priority.
