A regular Bryan Perrigo
I was thinking more like Joe Arrigo......
Browns going to sign former KC TE and UWM BBer. Cuz they're just signing everyone. I thought Gute might take a look at him.

I nominate this post as worst post of month. After the 2014 season the Packers lost in overtime the the Seahawks in NFCC game. In 2015 lost to Arizona, again in overtime in the 2nd round. In 2016 they again lost the NFCC game to Atlanta. In 2017 Rodgers was injured most of the year. So tell us again how did the "previous regime" waste the prime of Rodgers career? Must be because they let him get injured.
I believe that retaining someone at a position as critical as defensive coordinator should he have been let go rates high enough to qualify wasting the prime of Rodgers. I don't have a detailed memory of the specific games, but I am pretty sure in most of them there was the sense the offense needed to do more than it really should have had to (because of close to zero confidence in the defense).
In other words, a lot of the time the defense royally sucked and to repeat, that was a lot of wasting the prime of Rodgers.
I sense some serious cognitive dissonance here. Anyone who agrees Capers should have been let go and the defensive side was a serious issue and does NOT believe much of Rodgers prime was wasted is believing in a serious contradiction.
Both cannot be true.

That's what happens when you have sucked for so long that there is no one on your own team worth re-signing (Joe Thomas exception) that you have gobs of cap room year after year.
Former Seahawksβ S Earl Thomas intends to sign a four-year, $55 million deal that includes $32 million fully guaranteed at signing with the Baltimore Ravens, league source tells ESPN. Deal includes $22 million in first nine months.

Nailed it. Capers should have been gone after the San Francisco debacle in 2012 where they surrendered 45 points. The year prior, we lost in the divisional round to the Giants by giving up 37.
If your argument was talent and not coaching, than it should have been TT. We would have missed out on 1- Nick Perry, 1 - Datone Jones, 1 - Clinton Dix, and 1 - Damarious Randall, 1 - Kenny Clark, 1 - Kevin King.
Only 1st rounder who has been a + is Clark. If King continues on his path, he will be viewed in the same light as Nick Perry.
Absolutely wasted.
Former Saintsβ RB Mark Ingram intends to sign a three-year, $15 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens, per @diannaESPN and me.

Almost 14 mil a year avg with that kind of bonus for an aging, injury riddled, albeit once great player β¦.
too rich for my blood (and likely Gutey's too).
Good for Thomas though, his last decent contract.
He'll also be surrounded by the NFL's #1 D.
Not anymore...

The Ravens have lost 4 starters on their 2018 defense to FA
Still surrounded by a lot of talent. Anybody wanna bet they won't be ranked near the top again in 19? They just added Earl Thomas.
#Packers DE ZaβDarius Smith has a 2019 salary cap figure of $7.25 million, which means the four players signed have a combined cap number of $23.6 million. #Packers are roughly $17 million under the cap not counting RFAs.
β Tom Silverstein (@TomSilverstein) March 13, 2019
$17M under the cap. RFA's and Draft Picks not included.
Room for Breeland, Zach Brown, or Tre Boston, etc....

The debate goes to those who pissed and moaned about TT the entire time he was a GM, not the fact everything went to shit at the end. TT's health failing, McVince being McVincey and keeping yes men clowns and The Wizard around and Murphy being clueless about the whole thing are common talking points but building a Super Bowl team is conveniently excluded.
So I suggest people get a grasp on the context of what is or isn't being said.
Looking at our DL and I want to ask what you think of Muhammad Wilkerson and Montravius Adams. Of course we didnβt get much of a look at MW last season. Do you guys think either or both will ever be stalwarts? Or are they both JAGβs?
QB's throwing to the #Packers newly acquired Preston Smith in pass coverage enjoyed a passer rating of 55 in 2018.
Smith can cover pretty damn well. That alone will be refreshing to see.

Adams, not hopeful he pans out. I think at this point Wilkerson is one of those mid-tier guys that'll be great in a rotation if he can stay on the field. I'd be happy if Adams became a capable, mid tier type of player. I think that's his ceiling.
PFF 2018 Pressures -
ZaβDarius Smith with 60 pressures in 691 snaps, most of any player in the league playing less than 700 snaps.
Preston Smith with 53.
Packer leaders:
Clark (46) and Daniels (32)- missed multiple games
Matthews led the Packers on the edge with 30
Watching P. Smith, Kenny Clark, Mike Daniels, and Z. Smith man the front is gonna be fun.
that looks like a 4 man front to me.

Surely multiple teams are fighting to sign these two up, right?

I'd have taken him on that deal...but that was before I knew Amos was available...I thought he would either re-sign with Chitcago or follow Fangina to Denver.
CMIII at ILB at this stage of his career would make more sense.
An increasing chance Clay Matthews will return to the #Packers. He is still testing the market, but Green Bay has had positive talks with his agent. Only time will tell, but Matthews at ILB is a good fit.
β Evan Massey (@massey_evan) March 13, 2019
I agree with that and never wanted him switched back after his last stint at ILB. He looks intimidating on the inside and played better than he did on the edge. Offenses looked like they were having a hard time accounting for him out of that slot.
I'm guessing they only moved him back out of need. That and because he wanted the increase in high-profile sacks OLB's are supposed to get. Irony is, his sack numbers went up when he moved inside IIRC.
Matthews back and in the middle heck yeah bring it.
He's better there than he currently is at OLB but still not great. His advantage is Pettine being able to move him around so OL have difficulty accounting for who is supposed to block him. Devin White would be better but consensus seems to be CIN grabbing him at 11.
DH13 posted:... Devin White would be better but consensus seems to be CIN grabbing him at 11.
You can't say that about a guy who has never played in the NFL.
Dolphins cut Josh Sitton.
The Packers did not tender S Kentrell Brice, a source said. The restricted free agent will not become a free agent and is expected to sign elsewhere.
β Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) March 13, 2019
Even if they don't move Matthews inside, he'd be good in a situational role rather than an every down player.
Matthews has always been a product of the weight room. Look at last year: he started out the season looking pretty good (remember the late hits that weren't?). It's as the season wears on that his body breaks down (at least since they developed a way to test for HGH in 2014, that is).
In the middle, he's not taking on the other team's most athletic lineman (OT's), or getting double teamed. He can eat guards and centers up. Or if they want to save him for 3rd and long, that works too.
I hope Sitton and Lang have the sense to retire. It's over.
Resigning Clay would be an excellent move. He can play fine in the middle and blitz up the gut. He would serve as a good backup edge guy when the Smith brothers need a blow or somebody gets hurt. Heβs got some tread left on the tires.
The #Chiefs have released S Eric Berry. End of an era in KC.

Per Schefter, he's had a range of injuries beyond his lymphoma recovery he has dealt with the last 2 seasons. Would be a big risk at this point to sign him to any real guaranteed money.
Hell of a career though and no doubt a baller.
