Okay.  Is there any franchise who has spent so much draft capital on db’s and gotten so little?  I mean, we can go back to the Randy Moss draft of Antuan Edwards, Fred Vinson and Mike McKenzie.  Then think of our high hopes for Randall and Rollins.  Now we have to ask if we’ll ever get our money’s worth out of King or Josh Jones.  My inner angry old fart wants to place blame!  (Or find an adequate scapegoat).

This is what happens to teams when you draft mainly for need in the top rounds of the draft. Ron Wolf was on record saying he was drafting with the thought he needed CBs to match up with Randy Moss. TT did this the last few years as well.

In 2005, they took a guy they didn't need (Rodgers obviously).

In 2011, they took a WR (Cobb) even though they already had Nelson, Jennings, and Jones.

In 2014, they took a WR (D. Adams) even though they ended up having two Pro Bowl WRs that year (Jordy and Cobb).

Ahhh...contraire Chief Hairy Fly.

If I remember correctly...and I most always do...

We ended up with Ahman Green for Vinson...and McKenzie was kind of awesome for a while.

A convoluted 2 out of 3.

It worked out quite swimmingly...granted Wolf made a 3 bank 8ball shot to pull it off getting Green for Vinson..but yet he did.

It doesn't help that we keep letting some of  the most talented DB's walk via free agency:

Casey Hayward-Pro Bowler

Micah Hyde- Pro Bowler

Damarius Randall- Playing at Pro Bowl level. Now I do realize that Randall had issues but I just wonder if a decent coach (not named Country Club McCarthy) could have kept him in line. We basically gave away a pro bowl level player here for Deshone Kizer- we got completely taken to the cleaners on that trade.

I know what you mean 13x, but, I understand what Ted was attempting to do, wanting to save $ with Hayward, wanting more size, speed with Hyde, wanting more ranging ability with Randall, etc... I loved Hayward and Hyde. Randall is a head case. Ted just had a lot of misses there, not always in his choices for players as selections, but also in his choices on who to retain/value/allocating resources.

I really do like what Gutekunst has done to bring our CBs and Ss up to speed, filling the roster with size, talent and athleticism. I understand a lot of players are untested in game situations, but I'm liking what I've heard thus far on Ka'Dar Hollman, Kablon Ento, Tony Brown, Chandon Sullivan, Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Raven Greene, and Natrell Jamerson. Hell, Tramon Williams can still bring it, though he's slowed down a bit. I'm hoping Josh Jackson and Kevin King can return from their foot/hammy injuries. Seems like they are being extra cautious.

Then there is this kid! - Jaire!

It's great and all that KK will be back shortly but I can't say it instills a ton of confidence in him lasting a full season.

No. Agree completely. No confidence, but, I'm just hoping for the guy to have a good year. Sounds like he really knows that too, how unreliable he's been from an availability standpoint, and that he's taken some steps in his training to rectify that. Guessing LaFleur and Gutekunst want to be extra cautious.

Anybody know what Josh Jackson's foot injury actually is? I'd love to see what this kid can do as well when healthy.
