6 - 0 + 1 =

6 + 1 = 7??

JAPF, since you're a math teacher, it's your civic duty to tell me the correct answer!! Smiler

Yes 7 is the correct answer. A lot of people on facebook are confused and not aware that the Order of Operations holds true whether there are parenthesis or not. Also, there is only one way to do it....you have to have rules, but many on facebook are saying that it can be done multiple ways with different answers. That would make math and communication a mess.

So, I applaud you, Thunderbird...for keeping my hope in education alive.
I actually got the cold sweats trying to answer that.

Freshman year high school : D- Algebra
Sophomnore year: D- Geomertry (whatever)

Took 6 credits of Logic in college to fullfull math requirements----D minus, minus, minus.

Passed the "Math profficiency" exam to graduate with the help of Jesus (and maybe Hot Mary the proctor).

I however, talk really good.
