He didn't have that excuse in the Philly playoff game, or the Giants NFC championship game, or the 6 interception game against the Rams....

Agreed that the Rams were a better team, but the Rams scored on 

1. A Pick 6

2. A 4 yard TD drive after another Favre almost pick 6. 

3. Another pick 6

4. Another pick 6

Yes, it was 45-17, but Favre was responsible for 28 Rams points. Don't forget that Green and Freeman also lost fumbles during the game. 8 turnover games don't really allow an assessment of whether the Packers could have pulled off an upset.
