Just to put all of this back into perspective, Tulsa has finally decided to dig and exhume mass graves.  Mass graves.  Yeah, I'd be pissed too faced with that kind of reminder.

Maybe we can have civil discourse once everyone admits there's a real problem and a real reason to make amends.  Those fucking confederate statues and flags are absolutely equivalent to Nazi iconography.  Difference being Nazi atrocities only lasted for a decade.

Yeah I mean that's it in a nutshell. I heard Neil D. Tyson say one time, IRT to Climate Change, that it's fine to debate the political options for dealing with climate change because there isn't 1 right answer BUT right now the debate isn't about political solutions. We can't even get to the political debate about anything right now because we're stuck on fighting about whether there is even a problem. Same thing applies to a myriad of issues. We seem to be stuck in this endless loop of "Stop whining, everyone has problems" which leads to "If you're not help solve this problem then you're a perpetrator of the problem" which leads to "I didn't do it, I'm just trying to live my life, leave me alone" which leads to more and louder accusations and more defensiveness. Neither is a productive way to solve a problem.

I realize some people in this thread don't believe Cancel Culture exists, but seriously, are the "Woke Folk" going to basically suck all of the joy out of everything?

It surely never occurred to Americans who shop at the eclectic grocery chain Trader Joeโ€™s that their enchiladas, pizza and pad thai were wrapped in cultural exploitation. But after a high-school senior in California illuminated the brandโ€™s sinister underbelly, the company issued an apology.

Trader Joeโ€™s โ€œlabels some of its ethnic foods with modifications of โ€˜Joeโ€™ that belies a narrative of exoticism that perpetuates harmful stereotypes. For example, โ€˜Trader Mingโ€™sโ€™ is used to brand the chainโ€™s Chinese food, โ€˜Arabian Joeโ€™ brands Middle Eastern foods, โ€˜Trader Josรฉโ€™ brands Mexican foods, โ€˜Trader Giottoโ€™sโ€™ is for Italian food, and โ€˜Trader Joe Sanโ€™ brands their Japanese cuisine,โ€ 17-year-old Briones Bedell wrote in an online petition demanding that the grocer cancel its ethnic brands. This โ€œbranding is racist because it exoticizes other culturesโ€”it presents โ€˜Joeโ€™ as the default โ€˜normalโ€™ and the other characters falling outside of it.โ€

Maybe Joe Biden should think about changing his name before he gets canceled.

I think a relatively small minority of woke virtue signalers project racism/sexism into virtually every phrase, term or tradition. I don't think we're all that fragile, but if a wooden Indian outside a smoke shop threatens somebodies sensibilities, down it comes. Now the Redskin name, yeah pretty crass, On the other hand, is "Brave" any more insensitive than "Celtic" or god forbid, "Viking"?

How did we arrive at a point in time that if one person is offended, something must be removed or changed?
