Dial up internet and fat fingers.

Seems totally legit.  I know when I want to lose weight, I just eat bacon, walk to the fridge instead of using my hoveround and literally watch the pounds fall off of my body.

Started my exercise/low carb program on Saturday.

Weighed myself this AM, 20 pounds less.

1. I know you're saying, Al, you must be really fat if you can lose 20 pounds in 3 days.

Guilty as charged.

2. If only that initial water weight loss kept up. Now, it will be a couple pounds a week, at most.

That was one big POOP!!!

Al should let the CEO of McDonalds know that there's nothing to worry about, and it's probably just due to snow and cold, and his important changes are unneeded, because contrarian business genius and patriot Al Bethke knows better!

(also please ignore that the US number is 4% down, not 1.7% which is the international number and one would assume that the "snow and cold" he refers to doesn't impact that all that much)

(also also ignore that Al is a complete and utter freaking moron)

The Rambling wife refuses to buy anything but Jif creamy, but when she bought a cheap store brand at Aldi for a recipe of some kind, I could sure tell the difference...though I can't say it was worse, but it sure spread a lot harder. I'd like to buy some cashew or almond butter, but I would have to justify it by skipping a couple meals, they are so expensive.

I really enjoy Goober Grape, which is PB mixed with grape jelly in the same jar, because yes, we are hellishly spoiled and lazy.

I don't know if it's possible for me to think less of a person than I do of Al.  But, I couldn't have even predicted this.

Yes Al, "we".  Has Toad achieved full "Al-ness" yet?  It's a long journey to know nothing.

Studies say that buffets are a benefit to society, and are a necessity to happy living.

I was ready to give Al a little credit for being way out front of the chocolate fountain curve. Look at Golden Corral jumping on a little PR retweet from the Doctor. Who knew buffets were making people happier?

Oh, here's another tweet from the Doctor the same day...

Batman is actually more bat than man, that's why he is awesome

It's good to see that our hero is focused on teaching our next generation the really important lessons.  Like making sure you cram at least 3,000 calories into your maw for as little money as possible, as quickly as possible and while sitting.

On my way to pick up the Rambling son at school, saw Kwik Trip had pizza slices for $1. Stopped and got him one, and I see muffins are on sale, for 79 cents. Pepperoni pizza, chocolate chip muffin, $1.79.

Rambling son called it the greatest after school snack ever, and "thanks old guy."

He doesn't know when to shut up.

I wonder what Al thinks of this:

quote:
St. Mary’s woman accused of putting skin in family’s milk

A Mechanicsville woman has been arrested on charging papers alleging she contaminated milk served to family members at a residence, with shavings of dead skin from her feet.

[...]

Schrock was alone at the home that day until Hurry and the child arrived at dinner time, and they were drinking the milk when the child began choking and coughed up what looked like dead human skin, according to court papers filed by St. Mary’s sheriff’s Cpl. Jaime Davis.

I think even Al would wonder what kind of a search you'd have to run on Google to come up with a story about a woman putting dead feet skin in milk from trays she keeps in her bedroom. Let's be honest, that's not exactly "today's news" is the search bar and hitting enter.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE!  WHO ELSE IS GOING TO GC TO HONOR THE TROOPS?

Radio dude just mentioned that on his FB feed, everyone says lots of cars are loaded to absolute capacity with all the stuff people will need for the long weekend. Drive safe folks, but only about 15% are traveling 50 miles or more in WI.

I do kind of wonder how that is figured, because we're going to Golden Corral tomorrow, which is about 30 miles from us...30+30 is more than 50, so would we count? No idea. I tried to book today, but no one wanted to see me (reminds me of my single days). The Rambling wife left for work a bit early, "so she could be done early," which is a common refrain today I'm sure.

So I see this perfectly grilled Sirloin advertised at GC....

But here's the thing. If you're going to show a perfectly grilled sirloin and the grill that sirloin was grilled on and then advertise it nationally it stands to reason you'd want to make triple sure the grill marks on the sirloin match the grills on the grill itself. The laws of physics aren't lining up here.

The good news though!!!!

A little sluethin' tells us anyone in the vicinity of Plover WI can see Al up close and personal tomorrow night. I'm guessing between 4:30 and 5:30pm in order to avoid that 30 mile haul home in the dark following a big meal.

That has the makings of a great weekend.
