Why is extinction a bad thing?

I've been asking that for thirty years. If a species is too dumb to adapt, oh well.

What, does someone think the saber-toothed tiger had the cure for cancer?

Al, once again, is way ahead of the game. Thirty years ago he was already thinking that in a truly free world, extinction is just fine.

Science really is for commies who probably also think math is worth something.

You know, Daylight Saving Time would be great if they could make it effective at 4 pm on Friday.--Facebook friend

I must admit, that's brilliant.

Al's not showing much of a work ethic today. Watching TV in the middle of the morning, hoping to bail out of work early on a Friday... I thought freedom wasn't free?

Second best calendar adjustment idea I've heard, other than my President's Day after the Super Bowl thought.

There's never been an idea offered where Al didn't already have a better one.

That rib cage injury seems to be one of the more popular ones of late. As John Kruk said, you can't pull fat. I think guys overwork that area and should concentrate more on flexibility.

al's qualifications for health and wellness are unparalleled. I often do stretchs while waiting in line at Golden Coral.

I think I've posted this before, but I cannot believe how big the nest they build is. They are large birds to be sure (I often see them on the highways around here, and they are so big, sometimes you wonder how they can fly), but that nest is monstrous.

Here he is again, scoping out eagles. Curious about their flight techniques, like any good hunter would want to know. Proud of the majestic beast he wants to kill. C'mon eagle, cure cancer and live.

I just realized if you take the recommended adult dosage of children's cough medicine (mmm, grape) a bottle lasts about one day.

Put a sweatband on my head and spray some sweat stains on my T shirt, I might fool some into thinking its Gatorade...

No wonder our guru Al is always home in the middle of the day - the SOB is grippin and sippin the cough syrup. Now THAT'S freedom, my fellow patriots.

Perhaps we should start another thread on this - Al Huffs Paint and Sniffs Glue.
Not with your basic lard soap:

You can use it to clean the Boo Berry stains out of your only collared shirt and then deep fry some krab/cheese/hot pockets for a snack with it when you're done.

Once again, that's freedom.

And yes, MNSnowBong - this is the work of one person - one true patriot who isn't afraid to be known as such. Having a group of people all doing this would not only lower the remarkable profundity ratio we're seeing, but it would also be Communism - sorta like what the Old Media does along with those morons who go to college.

Look no further than right here at home. How could one possibly post so much moronic material? It has to be the work of multiple people, working in concert to create a mountain of derp.

Nope, just one dedicated patriot.

It-s all it takes.
Just a jerk looking for a circle.

Real topic on Dr. Oz today...what do we know about Jesus' health?

1. It does break the streak of 77 consecutive shows in a row which he said all you need to lose weight is a simple diet plan that includes about 1200 calories a day (with a once weekly "splurge" of 1500).

2. Mark Burnett and Roma Downey were guests, and they produced The Bible, but wow, that's still a stretch.

I would think Dr. Oz includes exercise in his plans. Does falling down count as exercise?
I didn't know Al Gore did all of that climate research by himself. He probably just got if off the Internet, but since he invented the Internet, it keeps coming back to Al Gore. Damn Commies. USA!

Al Gore can explain climate down to a tenth of a degree hundreds and thousands of years ago.

This film is made with atoms and is magnified a hundred million times so we can see it. I have no idea how it's made or how they magnify it.

So tell me, which one of us is totally full of crap?

I've missed Al's derp on science. I hope he's been eating OK lately.

One decade ago, putting on DEET...especially on children, was akin to swimming in your toilet, and was compared to child abuse.

Now...use DEET! If you don't...you should be locked up!

I never stopped wearing it, because I knew full well those insisting it would kill me had a financial incentive to sell creams and sugar water that don't work. There are millions of Africans who would say the same thing about DDT...if they were still alive, having died from malaria. The best we can do is these stupid nets, which work badly, I suppose, until you roll over, or they tear.

Good points all around. We all know al hates bald eagles, so this was simply the next logical step. We also know the things African kids really need is more chemicals applied to them (those damn African kids and their extravagant hot lunches). I can see al applying a healthy layer of deet prior to getting into bed with mrs. al. The hallucinations probably help the entire process pass by quickly.

David emails in this link about CO2 having a cooling effect.

I've said several times much of the climate debate is self importance...people who insist that a quarter or half a degree in the last century is very important, yet the previous centuries, including those with real weather events, are meaningless.

I gotta tell ya, if this is a place (along with inside info from Glenn Beck) where Al gets his science geenyous then I think we're all in for a lot of treats going forward. A sampling of some of the headlines linked from that page:

My personal favorite:

Are your children swimming in feces? If you're taking them to public pools, the answer is yes

Roast in the slow cooker. I wonder if it's any warmer in there than it is outside...

And none of them stinkin' bones!

I have had a disappointing couple days,

Clearly not my fault, but society's...

my battery died on my car (luckily, our neighbor is a handy guy who runs a body shop locally). He diagnosed it as the battery and not the alternator last night, so I took it in today and he switched it out for me (we let it charge about ten minutes, and it was just enough to turn over and start).

Al sure is a dirty socialist for someone who hates anything but CAPITALISM!  GIVE ME FREE MEDICAL ADVICE BLOG READERS!  FREE BATTERY MAINTENANCE!  CAT-PEE COUCH ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!

I sat and stood in his shop for about 30-40 minutes, and my freshly washed T shirt was soaked, front and back, when I arrived home.

Stupid skinny people!

Of course, I'm all but positive that was the original battery, so 10-11 years of service is not a bad lifespan. I was told once that hot and cold weather drain batteries, so this latest warm spell likely pushed it over the edge.

FREE MARKET IS ALWAYS RIGHT! SCIENCE IS FOR A-HOLE ELITISTS!

Of course, the weather is no joking matter if you are forced to work outside. Stay hydrated and take breaks, folks. I saw a woman out pulling weeds or something on my way to the shop, and I almost told her to get inside.

Which would have been effective.  If an obese tub of crap came up to me telling me to get inside, I wouldn't walk, I'd at least scamper and probably run.

Luckily for her, I realized she has every right to make poor decisions. Mike Bloomberg, I am not.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity.

BREAKING:

Al discloses that he has used PED's.  Admits they didn't seem to help.

BREAKING:

Very well written piece, though his team has had weeks to do so.Does not mention the substance, though I assume one is synthetic testosterone. Not to disclose too much here, but I have been on this for a year plus, and while it has taken care of its prescribed purpose, eliminated some pain of an unknown cause, it hasn't made me a better athlete or helped me get over injuries (don't forget, a couple weeks ago I pulled a muscle in my back fastening my belt) any quicker. While it has medical purposes, so does cortisone.

I wonder how badly tall chairs kicked his ass before he started juicing...

It's nice to know that Al totally understands what Braun goes through every day.

I have linked and discussed Cassy (Fiano here, she writes under her maiden name and her married name Chesser as well) many times in the past. she gets some nice ink here.

The irony is, down syndrome is a very mild birth defect, and those that are afflicted with it are actually in demand in adoption circles because while some families have the time and money to handle a special needs child, many don't have a handicapable friendly home or the desire to provide such care for 18 years.

al is kind of like my father in law.  He doesn't require knowledge about a topic to talk like he has knowledge about a topic.   Nothing but love and admiration for those families raise a child with downs with love and affection, either through birth or adoption, but to characterize downs as mild is pretty ****ing dumb and far from ironic.  I shared this post with two families who are friends, both with a child with downs.  The both felt that despite deeply loving their child as much as a parent can, "mild" was just an ignorant (dumbass) thing to say.  They though the link was nice, so he's got that going for him.

was Al taking the cream or the clear?  Inquiring minds want to know

in the land of DerpMurica it's possible that standing and walking is considered a contact sport.   Might explain all the sweating involved at the battery shop.  We all know how physically demanding it is waiting for your car to get fixed so if you need an edge you need an edge

So now Al's physical pitfalls are the faults of belts, tall chairs, bad arches, not crapping all day and the sun.

(8/28/2013 07:42:00 PM) - Al

So, I drove with my left arm out the window for about 45-60 minutes, and tonight, it's all itchy. I think I have looked it up previously and it is called "sun rash"...I get tiny bumps, almost like a rash, and it's really uncomfortable. It would go away after a few days if I ever got tan, but I don't. Mine isn't as noticeable the pic at the link, and it is related to the fact I don't tan in a couple spots (my left elbow being one).

And yes, an entire offense over an entire season is not a "small sample" per se, it is a bunch of small samples all added together.
...............................................

I really haven't gained 50 pounds of fat.  I just gained one pound 50 times after eating 50 cans of lemon pie filling.  Ergo, I am not fat, I'm just a compilation of small weight gains.

See?  Science is easy.

I've missed Al's science takes:

(2/20/2014 03:44:00 PM) - Al

Last night, we were told to expect anywhere from 8-12 inches of snow, starting early this morning...might get some rain just before the snow begins.

Now, almost 4PM...not a flake of snow or drop of rain yet. Forecast calls for "mixed sleet, snow, and rain developing by 5PM. Will change to all freezing rain by early evening, then becoming all snow overnight, 1-3 inches expected."

But you know what? They can, without a shadow of doubt, tell you it was a third of a degree warmer/cooler a century plus ago, and it's all the fault of the industrial revolution.

I haven't checked in on our friend for a while.  Looks like he's been keeping up with his science reading...

(11/18/2014 09:45:00 AM) - Al

I just read today that this is the coldest stretch in November in 130+ years.

Many see this as proof of climate change. If so, that would also mean we had climate change 130+ years ago.

{Actually, we did, many estimate a "mini ice age" ended in the mid or late 1800's, but let's ignore scientific facts for a sec, as we have bigger issues, such as made up weather facts.}

Weather changes. It's effected by the oceans, which are in turn controlled by the moon, which is, as many of us already realize, is clear out there in space. Other planets, the ones we look at through telescopes and all, have huge temperature swings in the same day, which is why they do not have life, as we know it at least.

Considering we live on a planet that had multiple ice ages, centuries and millenniums before the industrial revolution, you would think one would realize that temps ain't stagnant. Of course, if you had their record, you'd be trying to change the subject too.

Al or 99% of the world's scientists?  Hmm... Al or the entire science community?

I'm gonna need to think about that one.

(5/09/2016 08:30:00 AM) - Al
Found...an entire new species we never knew existed.

Every time they go deep into the jungle/rainforest, they find dozens more, and even tribes sometimes.

But we're 100% positive it's half a degree warmer than it was a century ago, and the cause of it is the Industrial Revolution.

May you live in interesting times.

Yes, Al.  Finding "an entirely new species" flies in the face of saying the industrial revolution has raised global temperatures 1/2 degree.  That's golden corral level reasoning.

If he would just vote for more destruction of rainforests he wouldn't have to worry about all those undiscovered species getting discovered and disrupting the delicate balance in his GI tract.  Moran.

Can't be bothered with mild anomalies.

(5/14/2016 02:35:00 PM) - Al
All the drama kings and queens telling me it is snowing...a couple flakes of snow in the air is hardly "snow."

When you have accumulation and plows are needed, snap some pics and I'll take note. Until then, you are just pretending your life is somehow interesting because of a very mild climate anomaly.
