Not sure what you're trying to prove with citing the Duke Lacrosse case? Of course false allegations occur, that's why the police investigate it.
#notallBrainDedmen
Of course that happens and the investigation will determine what actually happened. McDonald is innocent until proven guilty, but you will have to excuse me if I don't give him the benefit of the doubt based on his criminal background, his baby mama's bruises and her claiming he hit her. Don't be so naive as to believe that there aren't abused women that recant their stories later when they realize their gravy train might get taken away. That also happens, especially with pro athletes.
I'm not arguing about McDonald in particular, just the automatic 6 and then a ban. That type of discipline / law enforcement strategy is lazy and ineffective IMO.
quote:No. I am not in favor of the automatic 6 games.
I can't wait to see what happens the next time a prominent sportswriter is accused of domestic violence or drunk driving.
How about this scenario:
You get into an argument with a girl and she starts scratching and throwing stuff at you. You push her away and she falls and breaks her elbow. You get arrested for domestic violence. Should you lose 40% of your salary as well?
I hate when that happens.
Maybe if you were banging ladies above a 3, you would have a chance.
In your scenario, if there is a fair trial and a jury of their peers finds the player guilty, then yes, 6 game suspension seems fine with me.
I know. It's hard. All the 7-9s I've ever been with have turned up with broken elbows, me with scratches on my face and another 40 percent of my income flies out the window.
You seem upset.

Idiots dating idiots.
How's the elbow, Hank? My scratches are healing nicely.
Oh, I lost my job again. No check for you this week.
Sorry.

I'm so upset. I'm gonna go home and beat my wife. Do you have any other arguments besides the strawman approach?
Don't forget your gear.
As far as an approach goes, I'm thinking of drawing up ridiculous 'scenarios' that 'prove' my stupid-ass point. Can you help me develop that shtick? It's really neat.
New marketing for that elbow pad:
Put this on your woman - it'll save you 40 percent of your income!
Ok, I'll admit it you're honor. The suffocation thing kind of blindsided me. I wrapped her up in an effort to save more than 40%. That's got to be worth something...
Such a good white knight.
Thanks brainded for taking the heat off me and my dumass argument with fedya that turns out I was full of schit on.
X4 never forgets Shoeless. You know that'll come back one day.
Weird thing about the lifetime ban is it creates an incentive for the abused not to report. I agree with the intent but there's a chance for unintended consequences.
I kind of stopped treating this as a serious point following this post and then linking the Duke LaCrosse story as exibit A in regards to a story on McDonald. They couldn't possibly be any further apart from the other.
A pregnant fiance is going to threaten to have Ray McDonald arrested for personal gain? By having his money stream dry up? She already knows he's getting kicked off the 49ers if he lays one effing finger on her. Maybe lose the house? All while pregnant?
Beats guy with metal pole, he goes to jail.

Woman jumps from car to falsly accuse a judge

Never happens.
The lady throwing herself out of the car after he slows down to 2 mph is solid gold. I can't stop watching it.
"A pregnant fiance is going to threaten to have Ray McDonald arrested for personal gain?"
I know reading comprehension can be tough so I will say it again. I'm not talking about the McDonald incident in particular. I'm talking about instituting a automatic 6 game suspension for domestic violence.

There is NO automatic 6 game suspension.
It's going to be 6 games and then a ban right up until a the wife/GF/significant other tries a money grab. In the case of the NFL, I don't think we'll see it anytime soon.
We will see plenty more, "I was drinking and fell down the steps Roger, silly me"
Nut punches AREN'T COOL in slap and tickle.
Black eye= $200,000 fine
Bruised Ribs= 1 game
Broken Jaw= 3 games
Face Punch= 5 games
Choke Marks= 7 games
Murder= 13 games
+1 Game for getting caught on camera
+1 Game for TKO
+1 Game if she's pregnant
-1 Game if she had it coming
-1 Game if you have scratches or she has a broken elbow
-1 Game if allegations turn out to be false
Case by case basis.

This all or nothing approach works so well in other areas, what could go wrong here?
There is no gray, you're either with us, or against us, just ask W. Three strikes and your in prison for life. Doesn't matter if one strike is stealing a pair of socks and the other is smoking a joint, life in prison!
Life ban from football without looking into the particulars of each offense isn't as outrageous, but the concept is just as dumb.
3 strikes? Should have learned after the first 2.
Just take the red pill men, then it all becomes quite clear. But you can never go back.
Jim Irsay's punishment - Having to watch the first 6 games of the season on a luxury yacht with dozens of attractive young women wearing nothing and high on X
Poor guy.
I can't stand this kind of ****. Maybe you've been there, maybe not.
I have. Walk in my shoes and then tell me how yuckity-yuck everything is.
Bitch.
Stop it, I'm enjoying his brain dead rant.
No. I am not in favor of the automatic 6 games. Each case is going to be unique and millions of dollars are at stake. I think the least you could do is evaluate each incident independently based on evidence, not public opinion .
Branded has a point. Don't suspend players automatically after they have been found guilty in a court of law. Furthermore, the law has it wrong. Just because a guy has been found guilty of a crime doesn't mean you punish him, in case she made it all up. I feel the same way about murder, rape, pestilence (ok, maybe not pestilence). In fact, automatically punishing those angelic NFL players for breaking the law is barbaric.
How the hell is a guy going to make it on 60% of multi millions?
To the majority of these guys. Making 60% means they lost, like, 70%. It's hard to make ends meet when you can't do math.
