There was a guy on the radio, didn't catch his name, but I guess he was a Giants assistant coach.  He said he was surprised that the Packers didn't elicit input from AR.  He then told a story about the NYG QB room.  Sometime during the preseason, the QB position coach asked all the QB's to name their top five receivers.  Eli Manning was the only one to have David Tyree on his list.  Everyone was shocked and asked why, because apparently Tyree wasn't particularly fast or athletic.  Eli said that Tyree knew all the WR positions, and he could always count on him to be in the right place.  Manning's opinion swayed the coaches to keep Tyree on the team.  And later that year, Tyree made the famous helmet catch in the SB.

well to start:

- top notch facilities

- mystique and legacy are the big ones...anybody who is interviewed before a game talks about the awesomeness of being at Lambeau Field.

not about being offended, being AR, don't offend your fans... it's not ALL about AR, it's some about AR, but not ALL...if there are no fans, these guys can all go sell used cars or whatever...

I saw that yesterday on ESPN. It was Tim Hasselback, his first year as a backup QB in NY. Very relatable story.

I'm now 100% convinced that Kumerow would have caught a pass that somehow wedged into his ass crack at the end of the Tampa game to send the Packers to the Super Bowl. Damn you Gutey!!

Or play for another NFL team.  The organization should be thanking Favre and Rodgers for all the money to refurb Lambeau and build the Win the Division Town district.

As someone that lives in NE Wisconsin Iโ€™m not at all offended by Rodgers and his comments about GB.  I mean, itโ€™s not a destination for a lot of people and if you are single and young thereโ€™s probably a lot of other places youโ€™d rather be.

But players will generally go where they can make the most money AND win.  The Packers have been consistently good the last 25 years so thatโ€™s not a bad thing.

...and what would most people say has made them good?    HOF QB's.   ...and what did Aaron Rodgers say.   They would come to play with him.

So in a round about way, you are confirming what he said.

Guys, WI is great in it's own weird way.   But let's not be delusional here.   The vast majority of people are not going to include it in there top 20 states they would like to live in.

I think he wants the same control and influence that he saw Brady and Manning get when they left their original teams. He knows heโ€™s not going to get that in GB but there are several other teams that would be more than willing to bend over backwards and give him whatever he wants.

I donโ€™t think Brady had any personnel say with Bellichik. I do not know how much Manning had either. I have serious doubts that either of them had much at all, especially Brady.

He did say when they left their original teams. With Brady it was a big deal, not so much with Manning but both of them got the assistant GM (or assistant to the GM) role with Tampa and Denver. Rodgers might have to switch teams like they did to get that kind of respect or maybe the GB front office can figure it out how that works by the end of this year.

What happens with a lot of players who stay with same team / coaching staff a long time is that because the nature of coaching is correct mistakes, all you start to see is the mistakes and lose perspective. IU players used to joke that the best way to get more playing time was to get hurt and have to sit out for a couple of weeks ....the less Knight saw them play, the better he thought they were. Can't remember if it was Mike Lombardi's book or somewhere else that I read that many on the NE staff began to think that they could win just as much with a number of different QBs & Brady received too much credit. You can bet that Brady heard this & was one if the reasons he wanted out. I heard speculation that the same thing may have been going on with Packers FO, giving more credit to MLF and his offense, rather than AR for their success.

Brady essentially had that kind of clout with Robert Kraft as he likely was the driving force behind the Garoppolo trade during the middle to the 2017 season.

Manning left because the Colts drafted Andrew Luck. Manning could see that Luck was going to be good (he was probably the most can't miss QB prospect of the last 20 years). I don't think Love is in Andrew Luck territory at this point.

The main reason Brady left last year is that it was pretty obvious that the Patriots were going to rebuilding and it didn't make sense to have a high-dollar QB with no mobility behind a questionable line without good skill position players.

If Rodgers wants to leave after this year, he'll be leaving a team with a top 5 RB, the top WR in football (assuming they at least tag Adams), a HOF left tackle, and one of the top interior lineman in football (Jenkins). He will not find that level of offensive talent anywhere else in the NFL.

AR...

GB is not a vacation destination:  Hard for lifetime Wisconsinites to not get a bit offended by that I'd imagine.

People come here to play with me: Who exactly is he talking about?  Seems to me the vast majority of top shelf talent in GB was drafted.

All my friends weren't retained:  There's a salary cap dumdum.  Tough decisions must be made.

This is really all about the arrogance of 12.  Standing in front of a microphone shitting all over a franchise that drafted you and supported you for 16+ seasons is a dick move.

One guy he specifically mentioned by name was Preston Smith. Now I'm not saying he just went there to play with Rodgers, I'm sure the $$$ was the biggest factor.

But do they sign Preston, Zadarius, Amos and Turner a couple of years ago with Blake Bortles at QB? Maybe. Maybe not.
