Badgers @ Buckeyes

I'd think they need to be in the 60's to win. This team strangely misses the backup center with the eye poke. 40% + 3-point shooter. Ohio States' point guard gives the Badgers fits. Sure would be a big upset. Got to have Evans cut down on his shots, pass more.

We'll have the backdoor play any time we want it in the 2nd half, Suckeyes were overplaying so much it's not funny. Thing is you get the damn ball up quick so you do not get blocked.

It seems like the "ugly" basketball talk is at a all time high. They have been playing this way since Bennett was around. This team is just a bit uglier than the rest.

Well, between Evans the turnover machine and Berggren being incapable of making shots a big man should make, the Badgers are getting exactly nothing from the senior leadership. Bruiser has reverted back to his passive mode that we saw before the big ten season started, so he GS are left with deep 3s and wasted post flashes.

I don't know what Bo Ryan is teaching these kids, but I have the same co paint every year. These guys are so content reversing the ball around the arch that hey miss wide open cutters and potential layups possession after possession. They're terrified to pass the ball to the post. Guy are flashing, and all you have to do is get it in there. The while offense stars here. You wait for the double- doesn't come, make a move. Double comes, reverse for an open look. They react too fast, repost.

It's not that friggin hard! They make it look impossible. It gets old watching the same passive BS season after season.

Wow. The comments on this thread are baffling. They aren't that good but they hung in there for most of the game. Having only 1 big man kills them. Bergeren needs to pull his head out and make some plays. Evans thinks he is good and takes too many shots. Bruiser got in foul trouble again with some garbage calls. The fact that the Badgers never got to the line is probably a blessing in disguise but you can't tell me they were never fouled while shooting.

and you/we/some will have it every year. this issue this year is they aren't very good. they may have a playmaking PG in jackson but he is still too young. they have one guy who we know can create a shot in dekker but he is too young. bruiser should be a 6th man on a good team and bergie is struggling (although i think he needs more around him to shine).

last night was not a game they should win but they hung in there. i think they will make the tourney and with that overall talent, that would be overachieving.

with jackson, dekker and the scouting reports of some of the recruits, i do like the future however...

Three games in a row under 50, a couple at home and falling behind 30 to 10 at Iowa...and has there been any change? Whether it be lineup, substitution pattern or scheme I have not noticed it. Last nite another 8 minute drought, a couple of time outs called for what.....toss the ball around, reverse it and lob up a threee pointer as the clock winds down. How many teams other than Northern Illinois go game after game with scoreless periods like the Badgers? Answer....none.

I agree with most here, this team is not very good and did hang in again but for the love of God, try something different.

last 6 games, 3 wins against ranked opponents, 2 losses to ranked opponents they were in the game, 1 loss to Iowa on the road.

they are playing well above what I anticipated.

I stand by my post. 60+ points equals a win. Hey they try. Really need to shoot higher %.

Or it could be that the Big Ten is overated....

actually, per college basketball rules, you have to outscore your opponent in order to get the "w." Despite what you think, the games against Min and Neb do in fact count as wins and the game against Iowa does count as a loss.

I would say the Big 10 has 2 really good teams, Mich and Ind....the rest, normal Big 10 teams we have seen for yrs, capable on some nites of near greatness and just as capable of going in the dumpster the next.

Most of the commentaors and writers seem to think it is the best conference this yr, I guess we will see come March and April. Right now I'm not impressed.

I agree. My 'ol peepers also see some so-so hoops. Really, only Michigan has looked like a championship team when I have been able to watch. OSU, MSU, Bucky, Illi and Indy all haven't lived up to the expectations.

There are no "great" teams this year. It is more wide open than I can remember. Michigan and Indiana are both good teams. No UNC, Duke is up and down, no KY, Kansas is so-so. NCAA Brackets this year can be picked blindfolded or by a chimp and be just as valid. This may finally be the year a 1 seed goes down first round.

They need 60 to win? The badgers have not crossed 50 points since Iowa, and that took a blazing second half to accomplish. Lets start taking bets on the next game hey hit 50, forget 60.

This is a good, but certainly not great, Badgers team

I've been as critical as anyone of the Badgers style of play, but the reality is that their guard play has been wildly inconsistent and that's mostly due to youth and inexperience. At times, Marshall and Jackson have shown flashes of being really talented and I am hopeful that will become more common as they get more time on the court.

Sam Dekker sure looks like he could be the real deal, but it's tough to come into this league and dominate as a freshman. If it were me I'd still start him because of his offensive skills but I can also understand why they want to use him as their 6th guy.

Bruiser and Evans have their moments but neither guy is what you would consider a difference maker - although they do play hard and rebound the ball well.

So, that leaves you with one guy (Berggren) that you can count on to make shots on a regular basis. Most other good teams have 2-3 of those guys that can do the same thing.

The one thing that does make me wonder though is what if Uthoff and Vander Blue had stayed at Wisconsin? I'm not willing to let Ryan completely off the hook here but they still need to recruit better as well. They need to get some players that can put the ball in the hoop.
