Good showing by Van Ginkel I hope the gets a shot somewhere I think he could be a solid player given the right situation.
I have always kind of wondered why they have offensive lineman run the 40. To me like you said I would rather see how quickly and decisive they are when pulling I think that really is a better gauge.
There is also some stamina being tested there too. Not in measuring whether or not they can run 40m but how strong do they look doing it, regardless of time. Did they throw down, struggle, glide, come up lame?
AVG is a football player. He is always around the ball. Someone will take him and plug him in somewhere. Most likely a sub, situational type, special teams guy.
I like AVG as well. Never know how it's going to pan out- I certainly didn't expect James White to have a much better NFL career than Ron Dayne.

LB Andrew Van Ginkel helped himself a lot at #Badgers pro day. Scouts had him running between 4.51-4.58 in the 40. Looked really fluid in pass drop drills.

Scout at #Badgers pro day said all three OL (Deiter, Benzschawel and Edwards) and S D’Cota Dixon will be on NFL teams this year. Said Van Ginkel had an impressive workout.

Dixon was really, really slow at the combine. He had a nice bench press, but ran the second slowest 40 of all the safeties.

I see a lot of mocks have Connelly ahead of Edwards, this surprises me because Edwards was clearly the alfa on the field. Connelly probably measured well, but I'd hate to pass on Edwards over Connelly.
I suppose even a pack of Poodles has to have an alpha...

I asked about AVG in the NFL Draft thread (moved over here). Can any Wisconsin fans explain why he's being so underrated? NFL.com has him as a 7th rounder, gotta think he gets scooped up in the 4th or 5th at worst. 4.59 40, 38" vert, he's got some tools. Is there something I'm missing?
He played a lot of this season hurt, limited his production. He has skills as pass rusher though.
Connolly to the NYG and AVG to the Dolphins, both in the fifth round.
Start of seventh round and I'm wondering how in the world #Badgers ILB T.J. Edwards hasn't been picked. I know he ran a slow 40, but put on the film and watch all those tackles plus those 10 career interceptions. There not a top cornerback in this draft that has 10 picks.

Connelly and Van Ginkel should be able to contribute. Both high effort and high IQ guys and probably better athletes than people think.
At times, Connelly was dominant and and a disruptive force not unlike Chris Borland. His issue was staying healthy which seems to be a trend for Badgers LBs.
For whatever reason Van Ginkel didn’t play that well last season compared to the previous year in spot duty.
Van Ginkel had a foot injury last year. TJ Edwards not getting drafted was a travesty.
