Good first half.

The game in Chicago is interesting. Klay Thompson had 22 in the first quarter and 14 in the second. Steph Curry has 26 at the half.

Warriors up 92-50 at the half. Jabari Parker did play 15 minutes and scored 7. Probably not a coincidence that one of the worst defensive halves in NBA history took place against a team with Jabari on it.

If you'd have told me the Bucks would be up 6 in the third quarter of game against any team without Giannis and with Middleton 1-6 from the field, I'd have said you were crazy.

Of, and the Bulls defense continuing to get torched. Klay Thompson has hit 12 3s for 44 points and there is still 20 minutes left to play.

It’s not like Middleton or Lopez played a great game and they were missing Giannis and still beat a decent Toronto team by double figures.

Bledsoe and Brogdon were fantastic shooting a combined 13-23 and 11 assists. Snell seems to have got his confidence back and Maker and DiVincenezo stepped up.

It’s early but not sure anyone saw 7-0 coming.  Big game Thursday with Boston coming up.

Question will be- will the additions of Budenholzer, Ilysova, Lopez, DiVincenzo, and Connaughton be greater than Boston’s additions of Hayward and Irving?

You would think that would be a no brainer... but is it? I say this is one of the more interesting stories to watch this year.

This was my 2nd trip to Fiserve....no Giannis or Kawhi ....zzzzz. Kinda spoiled lately with being at Miller Park for the playoffs, Lambeau, and the bright new 414 Forum. Rare excitement for an old boring guy like me.

Glad we won, but kind of a boring game without the 2 best players.

Toronto just doesn't seem the same without Derozen.

Love the addition of Ersan...the guy is the ultimate pro. He does all of the little things that you dont see in the box score. Dante can play, the rook knows how to space and has some skills. Still really like the addition of Lopez, brings a good veteran presence, some size, and has a knack for hitting the big 3. The biggest surprise to me is Connaughton. Guy has a pretty nice all around game, good range and surprising hops....could bring some juice off the bench when needed.

This has the makings of a exciting year.

Bud is pushing the right buttons so far. Jason Kidd should never coach again.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Kidd won’t coach again. This Bucks season, however successful, will be the last nail in the coffin.  The way this team has come out banging teams kinda illustrates how bad he was managing their resources the last 3 years.

It also proves they wasted the last two years of Giannis and the other teammates with shit coaching.

Put it another way- if Bud was coach last year it’s highly likely they win 50+ games and with a wide open East who the hell knows what could have happened?

I think that Kidd at least had a hand in making Giannis who he is today. He at least put him on the path. But that went only so far- he is a smart kid, and now he’s being taught the finer points.

I think it was a BR article I read this week that was talking about how Giannis is “the player who had an entire system built around him that still isn’t comfortable operating in yet.” I think there is truth to that. Giannis defaults to attack the paint, and the nuance of the scheme are still not all there. Now he’s learning how to balance the expectations with the scheme, and learning how to put the game in a string and control it. That’s what the great ones have always done. Jordan didn’t really learn it until he beat the Pistons... Magic always had it. Same with Larry. LeBron is  there. Curry too. Giannis isn’t there yet- but with his talent when he does he could be better than them all.

Yes, I said that. Why? What he possesses cannot be taught. What he needs to be taught he can only learn by doing. If they ever come together the combination is unprecedented. A 7 foot SF who controls every aspect of the game. It’s freightening... and wonderful because he’s a player on my favorite team!
