Aaron Ashby just got moved to the Nashville pen… and I think that’s why they were willing to move on Feyerheisen. The plan was to make room for Ashby. If he does like Woody, Hader, and Burnes have, will be pretty nice having a 6th/7th inning guy in the mix who misses bats. Dude walks too many guys, though… he’ll need to clean that up some.

Well the offense had been doing a good job until this series.  4 runs in 3 games and swept at home by the Reds.  Wasted 2 outstanding pitching performances the last 2 days.

Last 3 outs in the 9th inning today had batting averages of .160, .138, and .153.

I just remember a lot of years the Brewers would have a good start and then have a terrible June.  They have bounced back nicely this year after a few bad games in the middle of June.

First time I heard the term “June swoon”  was around 1972. I decided I needed an NL team and I chose the Giants because for some reason I liked Chris Spier. I guess the Giants in those days had that problem as thats where I first heard it.

Didn’t think the term was used anymore, so thanks for the memory.

How many terrible Junes then in the last 15 years?

Going back to 1990 the Brewers had losing records in June in 16 of the 30 seasons. The worst were in 1990 when they went 10-19 and 1993 when they were 10-17.    So maybe not annual but quite a few.

This play

Ashby fails to make it out of the first. He gives up 7 runs, 4 earned, with 3 walks and 4 hits. One of the walks was to the opposing pitcher. It would have looked a lot better without the Adames error.

You feel bad for the kid. He's 23 years old and this was the highlight of his life to this point. I always wonder if maybe allowing a guy to debut in a lower leverage situation is a better idea. Maybe in a game where you are behind by 5 runs, you allow him to get his feet wet by going out there for an inning?
