Corbin Burnes may have had the best consecutive starts by any pitcher in Brewer history and he gotten charged with a loss and had a no-decision.

Game 1: 6 1/3 innings. 1 hit, 1 run, 11 strikeouts, 0 walks

Game 2: 6 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 9 strikeouts, 0 walks

Over two games opponents are batting .074 (with the same OBP).

20 strikeouts, 0 walks.

These are like prime Sandy Koufax numbers.

Pitching has been pretty good so far but the walks will eventually catch up to them.    Today Houser had 4 walks and 6 hits thru 5 innings  but still had shut out.   Lucky.

Huria had a 3 run  2 out homer  too.      This was after the Cards had pulled within 1.

It’s an interesting team as I would argue Woody and Burnes are as good a 1-2 starting combo as there is in the NL.  Houser has the tools; he’s just inconsistent (see walks) but if can reign in his control this is definitely a playoff worthy staff.

The middle relief has been a bit more unsettled, but I think they will figure things out and all they have to do is bridge the gap to Williams and Hader and it’s over.

Travis Shaw has been the comeback kid story to start the year as has Lo Cain.  They just need the other bats (like Hiura) to at least be average.  It’s a long season but more offense is needed.

Nice work by Anderson to the right the ship... getting the off speed stuff over for strikes now. Billy talked about they maybe were catching a tip on the breaking ball- they’re not picking it up now, though.

Yelich left the game in the 2nd inning with back soreness and Shaw left in the 5th after fouling a ball off his right shin while batting in the 4th.  Hopefully neither is seriously injured.
