Letting Suter and Boxberger go over what would have been around 6 million total (actually about 4.5 million over what they'll pay two minimum guys) seems shortsighted and cheap. Suter has pitched in 114 games the last two years and with an ERA around 3.50 and a WHIP of 1.25. Boxberger has been even better. Those are guys that help get you through a season. If they are replacing them with better guys, great. But the guess is they'll look to replace them with minimum salary, unproven guys.

It’s easy to overlook just how good Suter has been due to the fact he’s more finesse and control than power.  That being said, he’s got a very respectable ERA and WHIP and is the classic Craig Counsell “out getter” with his versatility.  He’s also a tremendous clubhouse guy.

It would be one thing if he were making 10M per year but he’s not.

More penny pinching bullshit from the Brewers and no, it’s not about freeing up money for Burnes or Woodruff.  If they aren’t going to pay a guy like Boxberger 3M for 2023 they will not pay market value to extend those starters.

Just started another thread because the Brewers just traded Hunter Renfroe for what appears to be three relatively modest prospects.

The Jag Yelich contract will limit this franchise financially for several more years. Hoping that the young and inexpensive talent moving up to MKE will hit the ground running and maximize the last years with the two aces.
