This is why Milwaukee needs to win the title so all the pundits and critics can STFU already.

Not sure I have ever seen this type of disrespect or lack of respect for a team this dominant.  Perhaps the 2000 Badgers Final Four team, but that team was an 8 seed that really hit their stride and overachieved.

I don't even think winning a title would shut them up. Then it would all become "well, Giannis has already won a title in Milwaukee. Can he amplify his legacy by going and leading one of the glamour franchises (Knicks) to a title?"

This won't stop until he signs the Supermax. We will know on July 1st. Despite what ESPN, the national media, and (probably) the NBA home office thinks, Giannis needs to sign and stay in Milwaukee or fans of about 19 teams will slowly start to lose interest in being the Washington Generals to the handful of Harlem Globetrotter teams (Lakers, Clippers, Nets, Heat, Knicks (post-Dolan), Mavs, Warriors, and Rockets). The Celtics, Sixers, and Bulls are close to that tier as well, but don't have the weather or NYC as an attraction.

The NBA needs what they will never get from the players association. That is, they need a franchise tag so that teams can hold onto their franchise cornerstones. If that doesn't happen, we are all just watching AAU teams. If you develop a player and he becomes a Giannis, he'll just leave for the bright lights and to help ESPN's ratings. Zion will want out in 3 years from New Orleans. Ja Morant will want out of Memphis at the same time.
