Giannis has to be smarter than that. Iā€™m all for his shooting outside to extend his career, but up five against a nothing team, take it to the flipping hoop. If Spellmanā€™s three lands, itā€™s a two point game.

This team sure checks out a lot, of late. I get itā€™s a long season, but thereā€™s no excuse to get drubbed by the Spurs, and then have this clunker. Time to stop the sleepwalking.

5 points. This is a lot closer than Iā€™m comfortable with.

Bucks would have been beaten by 30 against a good team tonight.

Bucks would have probably put forth a better effort against a good team. Thatā€™s what Iā€™m telling myself.

Bud needs to have a come to Jesus meeting. Back-to-back lackluster efforts doesnā€™t fly.

You do know Giannis has the flu, yes?

That's why he looked like shit tonight.

But hey it was Greek heritage night

Also....these are the dog days of the regular season. Pretty tough to play at Laker/ Clipper intensity for 82 games. especially when your best player has the flu and still scored 30 points with 11 boards.

Anyone here want to try and score 30 points in an NBA game with the flu?

Giannis goes for 30-12-4 and he seemed like he played terrible.

And if Iā€™m a player on an EC contender, or one of the favorites in the West, that scares the piss out of me. Giannis can have a poor night, by his standards, and still walk away with that line.

His win shares per minute was tops in the NBA last year, and his MPG is down considerably this year, almost 2 minutes per game, while his WS is tracking to edge out last year. Heā€™s going to be fresher for the playoffs because heā€™s doing more damage from outside the paint.

The Bucks depth is greatly improved. I read that when Giannis is on the bench, the Bucks are outscoring opponents about 7 points per 100 possessions. I have to believe they have a high chance at winning it all because even on nights when theyā€™re not shooting well, they can just slam the door shut on other teams in the paint. The only real way to beat Milwaukee is to shoot hot from the 3-pt range, and hope the Bucksā€™ shots arenā€™t falling.

The roster has been updated beautifully. Iā€™m impressed with what the front office has done in tweaking the rotational depth.

No, I didnā€™t know he had the flu. Feeling under the weather, and dreaming of post game Baklava is all the explanation I need. We won, and I know Iā€™m being too picky.

LOL at tonight being Greek night.

I see San Antonio beat Boston by nearly 20 points in Boston.

I bring this up because as Boris stated the regular season can be a grind and on any given night you can get beat if you donā€™t come to play.

Their last dozen games the Spurs are averaging 110+ PPG and last night shot 55% from the field.  Crazy

As for this Bucks team, I want to go back to a stat LS posted about points per possession differential when Giannis is out.   We have all lamented their performance in the past when Giannis sits but that 7 per 100 is an incredible number when you think about it.   Look at other teams and when their star players sit and itā€™s not even close.

Some other items of note is in looking at defensive statistics the Bucks are only allowing 37 PPG in the paint and are #1 in the league in defensive rebounds and total rebounds.   So basically what Coach Bud is doing is he will sacrifice some long range shots on D but will not allow teams the easy buckets or limit their chances to get easy buckets near the hoop.  Points in the paint are always much easier to convert than a 3pt shot.

What I didnā€™t realize is the Bucks are 6th in the league in fouls called against them.  Granted, from worst to best is only about a 4 foul per game difference but again, Coach Bud is telling his team to play tough D and avoid the fouls.

The other thing about last night was George Hill was out. He's key to that second unit and those stat lines about how well the Bucks play when Giannis sits.

If Hill plays, that 9 point victory is probably a 20+ point laugher with Giannis/Middleton playing about 25 minutes.

There was nothing said on the telecast about Giannis having the flu.

Apparently players cannot get fined for tampering.  Itā€™s such BS.

Just keep tanking the season Steph we donā€™t care to hear you talk about Giannis

I just don't get the infatuation by NBA writers with Giannis to the Warriors. If he (or Towns or A. Davis) went there they'd end up playing with a bunch of guys in their mid-30s carrying massive cap hits. Curry's already missed large parts of the last three years with injuries and he was a medical red flag with his ankles for years. Klay is coming off an ACL tear. Draymond Green will also be over 30 and he's just a complementary player. It would be like one of those guys playing with a bunch of Kyle Korvers. Great shooters (Klay and Steph) that are part-time players making 40 million a year each.

The other 2-3 destinations that the national media keep bringing up (Raptors, Mavs, and Heat) at least make sense from the standpoint of who he could be playing with.

The last few games have not been too much fun to watch.  Bucks haven't played well and Minnesota and Golden State were mostly putting G-League caliber talent out there and the Bucks sleepwalked through both those games.  That said... they're still on track to win 69/70 games if they keep up the pace.

I suspect there's at least a smidgen of complacency going on at times because they know how good they are and they're just sort of biding their time until mid-April comes around and they can truly accomplish their goals.  They know damn well after last year that a great regular season is nice, but anything short of winning the East this year will feel like a little bit of a disappointment.

It's probably not easy for coach Bud to keep these guys playing at the highest level with it basically being a 3 month wait to really start the "real games".  And if guys like Giannis are under the weather, that's all the more reason not to go balls to the wall right now.  Just find a way to win.
