Bucks vs Brewers

I watch all the Packer, Bucky Football and Bucky Hoops games.  I catch nearly every Brewer game.   College basketball is the sport I can honestly watch about any game.  

I am watching the Bucks playoff games now since they are good, but I honestly follow them the most casually.  I watched games a lot in the 80's, even early 90's.  The NBA lost my interest and I barely watched.  It seemed pretty apparent to me, even casually, that Kidd sucked balls.  

Damn Travis......I do too, but do not ask me to choose......I just can’t pick one over the other,  both teams were and are just fun to watch.

I remember the Alcindor Bucks like it was yesterday---listened to Eddie Doucette with a transistor radio. 

Hands down, Brewers mean a lot more to me.

Born and raised in Cream City so avid Brewers and Bucks fan. My dad took me to the very first Brewers game in Milwaukee - special memory and hooked ever since. I'm old enough to remember the Bucks only World Championship and know the bad teams and heartbreak since. Not old enough to recall the Milwaukee Braves Championship but know the rough seasons and how awful it felt when we came "oh-so-close" in 82', but came up short. I go to several Brewers games every year and went to a few playoff games last year(electric !!) . Have season Bucks tickets and went to playoff game against Boston(great fun).....but definitely more of a Brewers fan. 

I was instilled from birth with lifelong and insane passion for the Packers and Brewers. My dad didn't care about the NBA all that much, so, while I'm a fan of the NBA and the Bucks in general, I am not beholden to the Bucks in that same way. A Bucks/Blazers series would be super fun! 

But The Brewers and baseball was my first love. I played it all day every day I possibly could. I played baseball exceedingly well in high school. I was a walkon (which means I did nothing but destroy my knees and feet as a bullpen catcher) in college, it was,is, and always will be my first passion. I would chop off my left pinkie finger for a Brewers World Series Title. 

Born in 1972 in Milwaukee.  Dad was a huge Kareem fan so grew up watching Bucks games and some very decent 80s Bucks teams.  Met Sidney Moncrief in person which was a thrill.  Then came the 90s (ugh).  George Karl and the Big 3 gave us hope and still believe David Stern ****ed us out of a title in 2001.  Then Karl blew things up when he forced the Ray Allen trade and almost another 20 years of mediocrity until Giannis arrived.  Then the ownership changed hands.  Then Horst and Bud were hired and we have a ****ing juggernaut in Milwaukee.  

I do enjoy the Brewers but played basketball growing up so that’s always been my first love.  Would be great to see the Bucks bring another title home. Brewers winning it all would be pretty special as well.  But I have a preference to b-ball.  Badgers winning a title would be unreal and their Final Four runs were awesome. 

Packers will always have a place but having won two titles my lifetime probably spoiled me.  

I was born in 1969 and grew up in Central Wisconsin on a dairy farm. Every night while we were milking cows and doing chores, the barn radio was tuned to the Brewers, Bucks, or Badgers. We'd watch every Packer game on Sunday afternoon. The Saturday afternoon football games weren't on TV back then, so we'd also listen to them on the radio while we were working on Saturdays. 

I spent literally thousands of hours in my life between 1975 and 1991 listening to Bob Uecker, Merle Harmon, Jim Irwin, Max McGee, Jon McGlocklin, and Eddie Doucette.  I moved out East to go to graduate school and one of the highlights of moving to Western Michigan was being able to hear Bob Uecker on the radio again. 

I can't really rank the teams as to who I follow most - probably the Badgers the least as I'm not an alumnus (although was born on campus). The other 3 are equivalent. 

The Packers will always be #1 for me, but the Bucks are really close second because I love the game so much. Baseball I am most casual, mostly because I liked baseball the least- yet lived and died as a kid listening to Ueck call games into the night. 

Its been a long time coming to have all 3 be good at the same time, Packers back to back 6-10 seasons notwithstanding. For MVPs of all 3 major sports to be players on WI teams is unfathomable...

In my younger days I followed them all, religiously. Now, due to the number of games for each, I watch more Packers and Badgers than the others obviously, but I follow each equally thanks to the interwebs.

Sports passions, in order, as a participant during my school days: Hockey; Football; Swimming; Baseball; Basketball. Don't follow hockey anymore, swim almost daily.

As one guy of whom I asked what he thought on a specific topic said "it depends on what book I am reading now".  Honest - that guy is real - and as close as I can remember, a real quote.  I laughed a little when he said that. 

But the Bucks are the "book" I am reading now.  Maybe because they are only one more series away from being in the NBA championships.  That has been a long time coming ..........

I use to work at Wayland Academy where the Bucks held their summer camps.  Occasionally I would see one of them.  Only a few times I got to say "hi" in passing.  And one time I got to spend some time with a Buck draft pick Forward Mike Grosso (spell?).  He came in early to rehab his knee.  The Bucks figured if he could do that he would be a draft steal.  But as far as I know he never played in a regular season game.  Each morning for a while we would talk for about 10-15 minutes.  He would tell me all about his life and experiences.  His college tales were very interesting - he was a character - in a good way.  The first time I saw him was I had to do a double take at this 6-9 guy getting out of this small car - seemed out of place to me. 

Football is first and foremost for me, so Packers and Badgers football.  Love the Brewers, always played baseball as a kid through high school. I remember going with my parents and their friends to Brewers games at County Stadium to watch Yount, Molitor, Oglivie, Cooper, Thomas, etc.

Sucked at basketball, usually put in to foul, and my junior year of high school knew I would practice all week just to sit the bench so became a stuntman for our cheer squad and still got to go to the basketball games and hang with friends.  Tossing chicks in the air and getting a letter for it wasn't too shabby either.  But aside from Badger basketball, I really lost interest in the NBA post-Jordan.  But am definitely paying attention to the Bucks this season.

Weirdly, I didn't start really watching sports until college--I think since I played football and baseball in high school I just didn't want to pay attention to it AFTER I had been in practice all week and played games of my own.  But when I got to college I started following the teams much more closely on TV.  College was the first time I had more than 3 channels, so I also developed a love of the Atlanta Braves since they were always on TBS.

But for me, I would probably rate it Badger football, Packers, Brewers, Badger basketball, Bucks.

This is a great thread and made me think of some memorable fan moments in my 40 or so years on the planet.  My favorites (no order): 

Badgers Final Four runs - especially 2000.  Giant killers as an 8 seed.  Just falling short in 2015 to Duke.  So close. I remember being disappointed for days after that game as I thought they had it. 

Marquette Final Four run with Dwayne Wade.  Such a fun team to watch.  Hard to believe it’s been almost 15 years now. 

Bucks 2001 playoffs.  Run and gun.  They had the Sixers in their sights and I honestly think they may have been able to beat the Lakers in the Finals as they beat them twice during the regular season.  I’m still bitter about that outcome.  May David Stern be forced to eat glass and have chronic diarrhea in the afterlife. 

UWM b-ball tourney runs under Bruce Pearl.  Especially 2005 when they made it to the Sweet Sixteen to face then #1 seed Illinois.   Good times. 

Badgers football - 1993 Rose Bowl victory.  Much like the Packers 1996 season it was a special season and they sealed the deal.  I remember sitting in my apartment after they won in disbelief as I wasn’t sure it would or could happen.   Who knew they would parlay that game into the next 25 years fielding a consistent top 20 program. But they needed a starting point and that first Rose Bowl victory set the tone. 

And finally, last years Brewers playoff run and this years Bucks playoff run have been excellent.   It was disappointing to see the Brewers fall to the Dodgers but they gave them everything they had and almost pulled it off.  Hope they can get over the hump at some point just like the Bucks. 

Also born in 1969, soon to be turning the big 5-0.  By far Pro Football and the Packers were my biggest passions, but both have faded recently.  The Packers' passion has faded mostly due to a decline in the quality of the team. The NFL passion overall has faded mostly because the game just feels so different from what it once did but I'll save my thoughts on that topic for another time.

I think the biggest issue for me following the Brewers and Bucks for many many years was the fact that they just didn't have the right guys at the top running things.   Both organizations have done 180 degree turnarounds.  At the moment, it appears from the top on down, both the Brewers and Bucks are run in a top shelf manner.  I've enjoyed both teams a lot more in the past 3-4 years. 

The cards are stacked against the Brewers and Bucks, but they really have begun to make the most of their resources with the current management structures in place.  

As for the Bucks specifically, I have been a partial and sometimes full season ticket holder the past 3 years.   I began watching them in 1977-78 and I believe this is the best Bucks team that I can ever remember.  There's been more than a few times this season that I thought to myself, "I may never see a Bucks team this good ever again".   This really is a special season and while I'll never feel as much passion for the Bucks as I did say the 2010-2011 Packers, I still have really enjoyed it.

If I could pick a pro team to win a championship and the Packers were off the table it would be the Brewers by a long shot over the Bucks.

I'm probably a bigger basketball fan than a baseball fan, but I'd vote for the Brewers as well - just because I want to happen soon enough to be able to hear Bob Uecker call the last out of the Brewers winning the World Series. 

The Packers in my lifetime have always been #1 to me and were like that even in the dark years.

Growing up near GB as a kid I would say the Brewers were always my second choice and the Bucks who I liked a lot and I followed but they were still third to me.  Growing up the Badgers were so terrible but I rooted for them but usually saying to myself "damn they are bad"

Now? its still the Packers by far and away number 1 and the Badgers are easily second.  I hate to say it but I have been gone from home for so long I barely watch the Bucks and only pay much attention to the Brewers if they are in the playoffs. 

My order has flipped over time, and it’s probably due to how well the Packers have been the last 25 years.  Teams or programs I would like to see win a championship 

1A Bucks title 

1B Brewers title 

2A Badgers football title 

2B Badgers basketball title 

3 Packers title
