As much excitement as I feel for the Bucks getting to the Finals, it’s important to remember that there’s still 4 more wins to get. I am sure this is not lost on the team at all. Winning the NBA Title is the mission
The Suns come in offering a serious challenge for the the Bucks. They’re strong in many of the ways the Bucks are, and their role players have played better than the Bucks’ role players have so far. And Paul simply gets his teammates into prime scoring positions. Booker and Middleton really just cancel each other out, with Middleton being the better defender. But both guys are capable of carrying their teams, and Booker does that more consistently. He’s an elite offensive player. Top 10 in the NBA as a scorer in my view.
For the Bucks in those last 2 games of the Hawks series, the 2 other Stars had to play like it for them to advance. And they did it. They answered the call. Now how do they approach the rest of the series? It would seem the offense is more dependent on Holiday and Middleton getting going than Giannis getting his. Lopez played a role in the P&R that opened up the floor, and Giannis is also well suited for that role. Giannis getting iso touches or standing on the perimeter would revert the Bucks back to what their offense was before the Giannis went down- and they would lose to the Suns who play a better half court game. The Suns will fight like hell to prevent Giannis from getting into transition, and try to instead slow the game down into a half court slugfest- forcing the Bucks to prove they’ve evolved.
When they played in April, the Suns beat the Bucks in Fiserv in OT. Booker tied the game at the end of reg and then got a pair of FTs in a controversial call at the end of OT that won the game 128-127. Bridges was the x-factor: 21 points on 8-11 shooting and 5-7 from 3. The Bucks will lose this series if that happens again, IMO.
