What do Ford, Thomas, Pritzl, King bring to this team?

About the same level of performance that Van Vliet, Illikainen, Iverson, TJ and Schlundt do.

That class of Van Vliet, Illikainen, Thomas, Iverson, and Pritzl was supposed to be what was driving this team now. Instead, they have Ethan Happ and three decent 2nd-year guys (Trice, Davison, and Reuvers). Davison and Reuvers should be redshirt freshman, but they had to play last year because that 5 recruit class didn't live up to hype.

It’s not the players... the players have talent. The program is/was built on pick up 3 star guys, develop them, maybe land a couple top guys along the way, and trot out a senior class that makes a run. Rinse, repeat. And for 15 years, that’s what the program got... under Bo Ryan.

Gard has the blueprint, and knows the talent that has made the program work. He makes the right call with recruits. He’s maintained all the same pipelines he had when he was Ryan was coach. He’s even landed a few top guys, like Reuvers, Davidson, and King. But it’s the other half that is missing. He’s not half the coach Ryan was. And if your program is built on under the radar guys and a development system that sends great upper classmen against the MSU and others with their young guys, you better be able to coach and fulfill that second part.

Fire this fool, Barry. Your program is in ruins...

I think the Greg Gard experiment, or experience, should be over.  The trend line isn’t pointed in the right direction.

A lot of props to Bo Ryan for everything he did for the program, but man, he didn’t exactly finish or end well including basically helping appoint Gard as his replacement.

He was too busy managing the fallout of his dalliance with the massage therapist.

I think Gard probably hangs on for two more really tough years and then they find a replacement. The 2019 recruiting class looks to be really bad and they are getting no contributions from this freshman class.

Next year will be Reuvers, Davison, Trice, Ford, and Pritzl. They may get doubled up in terms of rebounds per game and there will be virtually no post defense. It's going to be bad.
