Most points allowed since the Gary Andersen debacle in 2014.  Any chance they fire Chryst after this game like they did with Andersen?

No.  GA was a foreigner, unknown to most.  PC is a favorite son who most of us begged for.  He will get lots of rope IMO.

If it was just Front seven, offensive lines and RBs, Wisconsin would be quite competitive. The fact is, until they get quality at QB, WR and DB they're going to have a lot of trouble against top opponents.

Since 2010, OSU has produced 33 NFL CBs and WRs.

In that same time frame, the Badgers have produced 13.

But many posters, in this thread even kept saying they didn't understand why Coan was playing instead of Mertz  back in 2019.   Well now we know why, Chryst knew exactly what we soon found out.  Mertz was a great high school QB and was never going to be a college QB.   Just like many great college QBs will never be a pro QB.  Many  got what they wished for in 2019, Mertz a full time starter.  Now you don't want to live with it.

I don't criticize them for trying to see what Mertz could do. He had a higher ceiling than any non-Russell Wilson QB they've had. He just never developed.

The problem is sticking with him once you've figured out he isn't the answer.

The kid who came in late last week looked like he has a shot.  It was against NMS but we can hope.

It would be a little more easy to swallow if Mertz turnovers came with some big play potential, but good Mertz is just vanilla.

that being said, these wide receivers are shit

no chenel or sanborn emerging makes the defense awful average

Once they committed to Mertz Coan transfered to Notre Dame.  I didn't blame Coan  at all.  And then when Mertz turned to shit they had no one else to turn to.    I think Chryst knew all along Mertz wasn't the answer.  But alumni and others forced Mertz on him.   With the year Coan had in 2021  Chryst would have been better keeping Coan happy and telling Mertz to wait your turn.
