@davebirkett: The Lions have informed RB Mikel Leshoure he's being waived.
Wow. Guy is a thumper with wheels. Hope he stays out of the division.

Hire Flynn as an assistant QB coach and sign him as QB if needed. Okay, there must be some restriction from doing that.
I think TT and the boys keep zzzzzzzzzzzz. He's proven to be capable this preseason, has a stronger arm and more upside. Flynn has the history, but has a weak arm for even a college QB and isn't getting any better. Arrow points up for one and down for another. Easy choice.
That's how I'd do it. I kind of wonder if the starter's relationship with Flynn may influence the team's decision to some degree, though.
I wouldn't be heartbroken whatever decision they make, really. It's pretty clear that Tolzien's ascending and Flynn is probably as good as he's gonna be. If they could keep Flynn on the 53 and sneak Tolzien onto the practice squad that would be the dream scenario, but I have a hard time believing zzzzzz would clear waivers.
I am still thinking the Pack will keep both Tolzien and Flynn. It'll be interesting!
Tolzien is not eligible for the Practice Squad. Many believe he is. He's not.
http://espn.go.com/blog/green-...ractice-squad-status
The part of the rule that applies to Tolzien states, in part, that "a player who has earned one or more accrued seasons would not be eligible for a practice squad unless the player spent fewer than nine games on a club’s 46-player active list in each of his accrued seasons."
Citing that rule, a league spokesman said: "Tolzien is eligible to be on the practice squad. … While Tolzien does have three accrued seasons, he's never been on an active roster for nine or more games in any of those three [seasons]."
Can't see the team risking trying to get Tolzien through waivers so his practice squad eligibility really isn't relevant. Flynn has flourished in the Packer system but he really lacks a legitimate NFL arm and his desirability with other teams is pretty limited.
It's been said in other threads, I don't know why a team would bring in Tolzein a week before the season, knowing it will take a few weeks before he'll be ready to play. Also, Z might have more upside, but the value of any upside is for a trade in the future. He's not going to take over for 12, and hopefully he doesn't get much playing time, so why not risk putting him on the PS, and hopefully next year he is the clear #2.
Also remember there will be 20+ other QBs hitting the open market. Many of the potential or already cuts (Ponder, Pryor, Whitehurst, Stanzi, Grossman, Daniel,) have more NFL experience than Tolzien. Then you have Buffalo who only have 2 QBs on their current roster and neither are any good.

I thought he wasn't, but according to guys that cover the team, he is. I think it was Demovsky that confirmed it with the league office.
Cuts-OL McCray, CB White, OT Fullington, RB Hill and Perkins
no surprises
As usual, Fond Du is correct. I'm as shocked as anyone he's eligible, however, he'll never make it off the waiver wire if the Pack cuts him

Not so fast YA.
Contrary to what even he thought, Green Bay Packers quarterback Scott Tolzien still has practice-squad eligibility.

LB Jake Doughty cut. Practice squad possibility per Silverstein.

I'm a little unclear on Tolzien and practice squad eligibility. Can anyone post something to help clarify things?
Tanner Miller and Alex Gillett cut.
Dolphins waived RB Daniel Thomas and RB/KR Marcus Thigpen.
Also, it sounds like the #Packers will be conducting a workout for a slew of quarterbacks tomorrow. Possible practice-squad options?
but could Ted stash him on the practice squad?
Could he franchise Flynn and trade him for a first round pick?

No draft pick for #Packers RT @shalisemyoung one from mild surprise category: source says Jerel Worthy released by #Patriots

Interesting. If true, one of our backups is getting cut most likely.
I'm still guessing Flynn, unless he's the new Doug Pedersen & Rodgers is Favre
Edit: So I guess no pick for us from the Patriots? That cagey Billy B. Man he is smeart.

#Packers have released Jumal Rolle, per a source. Shocked if he clears waivers.
Didn't expect that
that is a hard cut
That is a bit of a head scratcher.
Yep, was a hard one but one that had to be made.
Silverstein believes they kept Goodson. If true, I don't get that at all.

Hope that isn't true. Rolle completely outplayed Goodson. Goodson has no business being on the 53 man roster
Tough cut for Rolle, but that kid will find a team soon. He's too good. Be really surprised if he makes the PS and stays there.
As the cuts roll in today, try this exercise:
What if the Packers hadn't lost Finley, Abbrederis, Raji, Barclay and Franklin to injury ?
See if you can cut 5 more players to make room for all of them...
This might be why he was cut
Tom Silverstein @TomSilverstein 1m
I'm guessing that #Packers releasing Rolle was so that they could keep Banjo. He would be a fifth safety. Just a guess at this point.
May have been a move with the ST unit in mind. Banjo has looked good there for them.
This allows them to keep RIchardson and Banjo, and with Hyde able to play CB, Packers would be at 6(Shields, Tramon, Hayward, House, Bush, Hyde).

I'm hearing the #Packers have placed OLBs Nate Palmer and Adrian Hubbard on injured reserve
TT has specific knowledge regarding the other 31 teams that we are all unaware of.
Rolle definitely outplayed Goodson in the pre-season but there is a reason they cut Rolle even if we can't see it right now. We'll find out eventually. It will be crystal clear at that point.
