On one hand, I can appreciate that everyone wants to stay humble and minimuze the pain they might feel if the Packers struggle in the post-season. Trust me, I was like that extremely early in the season.

On the other hand, this fan base (myself included at times) is full of a bunch of over-conservative, over-panicked, over-obssessed-with-the-fantasy-sheets pussies.

We have at our disposal:

  • A General Manager who at last count brought more players into the league (either drafted or as UDFAs) than any other personnel man in the NFL
  • A head coach who over the course of his tenure, has had many opponents either cussing out like an 8th grader on XBox live, or saying "I don't want to play those guys again.", regardless if it's a win or loss on his side.
  • A QB that puts up 400 yards for every less-than-coplimentary remark written or spoken about him in the sports media.
  • The best offensive line since the Larry Beightol era (in spite of Campers and Linzzzzley)
  • A secondary that is stronger than its weakest link, and somehow survived losing its top corner today.
  • A receiving corps that has lost 2/3s of its members since its almost-perfect season 3 years ago, and somehow gets by with scrubs like Dorothy Adams and two generic white guys that are somehow the heroes of this forum despite not taking an NFL snap.
  • Our losses thus far: Against the raining SB champs...a division rival with a new coach that has fallen off the wagon since then (and is due for another meating at the end of the season)...and an overhyped mediocre opponent in a failure of a division that was only able to build momentum after AR tweaked his groin-hammy.
  • Oh, but don't fret!! Buffalo is totally a trap game!! It's not like Kyle Orton is a total failure against anything resembling a defense or anything!
  • Don Compers somehow able to out strategize the immortal Lombardi-esque Belichick and to hold the up and coming Minneapolis Zimmers to under 25 points.
  • AJ Hawk sucks. Has anyone ever mentioned this before? I can't believe the ignorant scrubs on this forum never notice this fact.

In all seriousness...get on board with this team or shut up.

Great ideas rooted in love.(R)

He held the Peterson-less Vikings to under 25! Wowza!!! Happy days are here again!

In all honesty, I gotta hand it to the Dominator, he did a fantastic job today.

And yes, BB is still a better coach than MM. Until MM gets to that 5th SB, that'll be the case. 1 down, 4 to go.

Sheesh dude, that's kinda weak even for you. Take your time, give it some thought and come back with some better material. This is an elite team board.

I know you tend to react negatively when anyone suggests the possibility that someone outside the organization may be better than their counterpart inside the organization. I'll try to be more aware of your sensibilities in the future.

Kind of think he was referring to this current roster, right now. Not their place in the grand scheme of American Professional Sports.

1 play that changed history?

The Packers (coaches and players) downplayed the Win last night in the post game interviews. Brady was visibly upset during the game and was not happy with the loss after the game. Brady knew they were playing the best in the league and they couldn't get it done. Yes, the Packers are elite.

Easily the best team since 2010. No doubt about that. Believe it or not, the 2012 defense was actually better from a statistical standpoint, but this 2014 unit is clearly more talented.

Yep...and this defense's stats are a bit skewed. Ever since they made the switch with Clay, the D has been giving up just 19 PPG. Holding both Philly and NE to just 20 and 21 is a huge accomplishment. Philly's last TD was complete garbage time as well. Pack held them to 6-13 when the game mattered most

Green Bay has been considered a finesse team under McCarthy mostly due to the offense, and that seems fair. Yesterday that was a smash mouth physical defense. Barrington with two physical stops on the Pats 1st drive. Other than two Gronk receptions, the DBs tackled well, not a lot of YAC. Very nice to see.

I'm not knocking his scheme, I question his ability to read talent and prepare that talent to execute that scheme and that extends to that stiff Winston Moss.

I cannot say enough for MM's involvement in the defense this year, even if it's just as motivator and a force to shake up personnel.

It is also really nice to see this team without a bunch of starters on IR. TT, MM and DC all look better when they can execute their game plans with the proper players.

This team has been elite for the past 20 years. Two poor seasons during that span? Not many teams can claim that.

To see the ILB attacking on a regular basis vs. the back peddling, take an angle tackle down field approach is quite literally refreshing.  Squaring up in the hole and laying the wood.  Barrington did a great job covering up the pass as well.  I hope he can continue to grow instead of suffering from Lattimore syndrome.

And the reality is that the general road map that the front office and the coaching staff are scripted upon are very successful but it always takes a little extra fire and luck to get you to the pinnacle.  That's the same for every team.  The challenge is being in the position to catch that lightning in a bottle and capitalize on it.

"As far as the customary post-game handshake between coaches, New England’s Bill Belichick usually goes with the less-is-more approach, especially after close losses like Sunday’s 26-21 defeat at the hands of the Packers. That’s why it was so significant that at Lambeau Field, Belichick and McCarthy embraced, and then Belichick spent several seconds talking to McCarthy, with a few headshakes mixed it for emphasis. Translation: ‘That’s a damn fine football team you have that was hell to prepare and play against. You guys do a great job.’ It certainly helps that the two teams are in different conferences and only meet once every four years (if McCarthy was in the AFC East, it wouldn’t happen regularly, if at all), but that should not diminish the symbolism of the moment. It certainly wasn’t lost on me, someone who has covered both men up close in my career. Here was Belichick, certainly the best coach in the NFL today, if not ever, clueing us all on this fact: Michael John McCarthy is one of the great coaches in the NFL. And it’s time for everyone to regard him as such.”
