So this week NW comes to Madison for a 1100 am kickoff.  I hate to keep saying the words "trap game" but this one could be just that.  NW hasn't been playing well so far but this is the type of spot that they find a way to all of sudden find themselves.

Personally, I think Chryst is going to do what he did last week and just grind down the NW defense with the Hippo package.  From what I have read it is 7-8 lineman, 2 TE's for a combined weight of around 2,900 lbs.

As usual I think the play of the UW Qb will be the key to this one.  I think Coan does just enough and Bucky pulls out a closer than we thought win 27-17

Wisconsin will never have a chance at a National Title until they convince a quarterback to play there. This year they actually have a defense, but again, can't throw.

What are you talking about they did exactly that.  One of the top QB recruits in the country on the bench right now Graham Mertz.

Happy as always, my friend.

Mertz can play up to 4 games and still be redshirtedâ€Ķ.they'd love to do that.

That makes sense. One thing for sure, they'll always have a good halfback and 5 big angry white guys.

Other than the halfback that sounds like the Republican Party

Throw in the fact they can't spell, have no teeth, and think the coach is "The Chosen One" and I think you have something there.

So still a 2 score game (24-15) after NW coach goes for 2.  Announcers dumbfounded by the decision to go for 2.

I've seen it suggested that if you need an 8 and a 7, you should wait to go for the 8.  I'd guess it's so that you're still in a one-possession game and only have to get a stop and score with the onside kick at the very end, rather than knowing you're down two scores which changes how you try to get downfield.

I'm not certain whether I agree, but it's not unreasonable.

The bigger mistake was going for 2 at 24-9.

Northwestern has scored 68 points so far this year.  That’s hard to believe given their history.  I’m just glad they played early in the season and beat those guys.   Northwestern always starts the season slowly and then turns it on later.

The Big Ten will be interesting the rest of the year.  O$U looks dominant as usual, but I have no idea what to think of Penn State or Iowa.  Contenders or pretenders?  Michigan State looks pesky and that could be their trap game in two weeks.  Minnesota could very well be 8-0 but their D looks awful.   Purdue was supposed to be solid but they look more like Purdont at this point.

If the Badgers continue to play defense as this level they should be in every game.  Just wish they had a better QB as Jack Coan is not a difference maker.

I think last weeks game was just the typical NW vs. UW matchup.  NW always seems to make life difficult for UW and as a previous poster said at least UW won this one instead of peeing down their legs.

I think the Big Ten is going to be interesting the rest of the year.  OSU is the class of the Big Ten so far but keep in mind they really haven't been challenged so far and to be honest they haven't played anyone yet.  Yes Nebraska is getting better but not as good as many think so that win to me is good but not amazing.  OSU still has PSU, MSU, UW, UM, and NW away on a Friday night.  Keep an eye on that NW game that is the kind of spot they can lose in.

As usual I think UW will only go as far as their QB will take them.  I have high hopes for Bucky this year but I don't have high hopes for Coan going to Columbus and winning against that fast defense and I think he will struggle against MSU and Iowa.I really hope I am wrong but you cannot rely upon your defense to score twice each week.
