Fun post/thread on Deadspin this morning.

You have the ability to change one play in the history of sports.  What do you change?  Some really good ones in the comment section.  Obvious ones Laettner shot, Brady hits Moss on that long throw with 10 seconds left, Heyward hits the half court shot to beat Duke.

What are the plays you'd change for the Packers?  In all sports?

Mine.

Packers:

1.  Bostick does his job, game over, Packers go to Super Bowl and I'll take my chances that they beat the Patriots rather easily.  Bias of recency here, but GODDAMMITSOMUCH

2.  Favre INT 2003 playoffs in OT WHEN THERE WAS NO REASON TO FLING TO NO ONE LIKE THAT.  So many plays from this game really.

3.  Rodgers completes that 3rd and G from the 2 pass to Cobb for his 7th TD of the night vs the Bears instead of settling for a FG there.  Just like anything embarrassing the bears.

4.  Rice's fumble is called a fumble.  BECAUSE EFF THE NINERS THAT'S WHY

5.  Whatever single play required us to depend on Cletidus Hunt in the Super Bowl

All Time:

1.  Luther Head hitting a wide open 3 with the game tied 70-70 and <20 sec to go vs NC and Illinois basketball wins the title and is likely not a dumpster fire 10 short years later.  I think about this single play for more than is healthy.

2.  Heyward hitting that shot from half court vs Duke would have been the greatest sporting moment in history that had no personal connection to me.  Duke losing to a mid major on that?  DAMN how awesome would that have been?  Ranked only ahead of #3 simply because I loathe Duke vs not care about the Giants/Pats.

3.  I don't care about the Pats at all, but I gotta say, Brady hits Moss on that play, and that is hands down the greatest play in NFL history.  Hitting Moss for 80 yards <10 seconds left to win and go 19-0.  Holy balls man.  Plus we'd no longer have to hear from the 72 Dolphins every damn year.

4.  Laettner misses.  Eff Duke.  Always.

5.  Bo Jackson doesn't destroy his hip on that tackle.  Getting to see him play for such a short period of time is criminal.

If, I could change one play...

Packers:

Morgan returns the interception AND trucks Russell Wilson on his way to a 67 yard pick 6. Ball game.

Non Packers:

Brett Favre throws at TD to Percy Harvin to beat New Orleans and go to the Super Bowl only Brett is running around like a little kid and doesn't see the flag for 12 men on the field.

Next play is the backbreaker.

Cletidus Hunt never played in a Superbowl.  I think you meant the injury to Gabe Wilkins that lead to Darius Holland's horrendous play in Superbowl XXXII.

yep Superbowl XXXII: the hit on Elway to make him helicopter also makes him fumble, The Pack scoops it up and runs back for a TD.

Good call.  I was in the same boat, with absolutely no rooting interest.  But this would have been just amazing.

I would throw in the Tuck Rule play.  That play easily could have changed the history for 5 franchises.

Patriots:  They lose that game and maybe Bledsoe gets his job back and Brady doesn't ever get a shot to be the Patriots QB.  Or his time is delayed, and he misses out on the prime of that team in 2003-2004.

Raiders:  Maybe the Raiders win the Super Bowl and Gruden stays in Oakland.

Bucs: They never get Gruden and either keep Dungy, or hire a lesser coach leading to no Super Bowl.

Colts: They never get Dungy so stick with Mora or hire a lesser coach, so Manning never gets his Super Bowl.

Packers: Since the Raiders keep Gruden, maybe Woodson stays and never comes to Green Bay to lead them to a Super Bowl.

The fall out of that play being called a fumble isn't that far reaching.

Two that stand out to me since I was rooting for the other (losing) team

Kirby Puckett fan/blower induced HR in game 6 of the series v the Braves and the infamous "and we'll see you tomorrow night"

Kirk Gibson one armed HR off (I think) the greatest closer in our era.  Yet another "I don't believe what I just saw" moment

More local rube flavor-

Big Dog missing that goddman 5 foot bunny vs Philly in game 6 of the ECF.

Can't forget about the weak assed Fail Mary - UW vs Michigan State (****ing Bielema)

Nothing though tops the Bostick **** up.  The play that will live in infamy
Either Rodgers hits the WR on the opening play of OT against the Cardinals, or the facemask on the last play is called.

The Fail Mary is correctly called, and we don't have to go through 2012 and 2013 hearing about how allegedly invincible Seattle is at home.

Non-Packers:

Torsten Frings is red-carded for an obvious hand ball in the box in the 2002 World Cup QF.  The US wins that match on penalty shots and beats South Korea in the semis

Arjen Robben hits the penalty in extra time of the final in the 2012 CL.  The Russian Mafia Team doesn't get its CL title.

Elena Dementieva's passing shot up match point in the 2009 Wimbledon SF is successful, and she goes on to win the title and get a grand slam.

Everyone stays out of it and let's Nolan Ryan beat the ever living **** out of Robyn Ventura.

The play where AJ Pierzynski and Yadier Molina didn't collide and end the others career. Even better if Kent Hrbek was somehow involved in that. Kent Hrbek was a true asshat.

Gary Anderson makes the FG. 5 Super Bowl losses sounds better than 4.

Watching that first half again was actually pretty enjoyable for me but I haven't been able to watch the 2nd yet, might not ever be able to watch it.   That 2nd half contains at least 4 plays that I wish I could change.

1 - Bostick G0D D@MIT

2 - Hawk\Slocum fake FG

3 - HCD on the 2 point

4 - MB keeps running and JP does some blocking

If I could change just one of those plays, I would be watching that 2nd half over and over again until the end of my time on Earth.

1. Bartman game. We'd finally hear the end of the goat.

2. Bo hurting hip never happens

3. Pete Rose doesn't end Fosse's career

4. Hrbek's wrestling move is rightfully called

5. Paul George's and the kid from Louisville's legs don't snap, because dang those were sickening to see.

Packers

1. TOG throws that last pass toward anyone but Driver since everyone else was open

2. Bostick's bungle

3. On TOG's intercepted pass across the middle, the NO player runs it in for a TD. heh-heh.

4. Collins never makes that tackle and a series of other non-stuff: Sharpe never gets hurt, Coffman never gets in that pool, Lewis, Brooks, etc., all never happen.

5. The SF fumble is rightfully called

Just remind yourself of what Red Sox fans have been like since 2004.

Now, multiply that by 1000000.

Trust me, much easier to deal with Cub fans whining then hearing them gloat about winning.

FTFY

I'm a cubs fan, and I don't think we would "gloat", but it would be like the Lions winning the SB.  There have been generations, that haven't even sniffed a WS or SB.

1.  2012 Fail Mary Called Correctly:

2012 Playoff Seeding as follows:

1. Falcons

2. Packers

3. 49ers

4. Redskins

5. Seahawks

6. Vikings

49ers beat the Vikings and then come to Green Bay, creating the potential for the following matchups:

(NFCDV) 49ers @ Packers - who wins?

(NFCC) Packers @ Falcons - who wins?

(SB) Packers vs Ravens - who wins?

2.  2013 Wildcard vs SF 49ers:

Micah Hyde catches the pick, Packers win the game, creating the potential for the following matchups:

(NFCDV) Packers @ Panthers - who wins?

(NFCC) Packers @ Seahawks - who wins?

(SB) Packers vs Broncos - who wins?

3.  2014 NFC Championship at Seattle:

Bostick catches the onside, Packers win, creating the following matchup:

(SB) Packers vs Patriots - who wins?
