That's it. I AM DONE. I am turning this car around and we are going home.

We are making a change to LIKES and clarifying how you are in 100% control of your notifications.  Below are the main points, and some Q&A to address your concerns.

As of today, liking a post will be worth 0 points in the community rankings.  ZERO. NADA. IT DON'T GODDAMNED HELP.

Q1: Hey Timpranillo, I'm a poster that clicks on like when I actually think the poster made a solid point. Am I going to die?
A1: No you won't die. This change doesn't impact you at all. You can still tip your virtual fedora to posts you genuinely like!  Good day m'lady!

Q2: Hey Timpranillo, I'm a poster that clicks on like because I want my community ranking to improve. Am I going to die?
Q2: No, you won't die. But as of 12/2/19, clicking on likes doesn't give you any points, and therefore won't help your community ranking. We don't know why anyone gives a shit about community ranking. We don't know that anyone actually does give a shit about community ranking. But, moving forward liking other people's posts will not help you with that endeavor. We're sorry. You'll get over it, because, as with all things, time heals all wounds.

Q3: Hey Timpranillo, I'm a poster that clicks on like because I like pissing people off. Am I going to die?
A3: No, you won't die. And, we can't really prevent you from doing this. But, maybe it's time to just stop. You know how in Family Guy when Peter falls down and hurts his knee and is complaining? Starts out funny? Keeps going and kinda gets old and stops being funny? Then goes on just a bit longer and gets funny again?  Yeah, this ain't it chief. Hows about we all just move on and talk about sports and pop culture and whatnot?

(also, key thing marketers or PR people - ANSWER the question with YES or NO immediately, then spin away)

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE - you don't have to (and never had to) get notifications every time a post of yours gets liked

Q4: Hey Timpranillo, I don't like getting email notifications when people like my posts
A4: That's not really a question. That said, we have a solution for you!
- Hover over your name
- Click on Notificaitons
- Under Settings - Uncheck the box for email

Q5: Hey Timpranillo, I don't like getting onsite notifications on X4 when people like my posts
A5: Again, I'm not really sure you're getting the whole what is/isn't a question thing, but again, we got you.
- Hover over your name
- Click on Notifications
- Under Settings - Uncheck the box for Onsite Alert

Q6: Hey Timpranillo, is there a way to pick and choose how I get notifications for what type of activity like private messages, etc?
A6: See? That's a question. Yes! You have, and always have had, the ability to choose how you get notified both on site and/or email, and for what things you do/don't get notified. If you want to be notified for only Private Messages? AWESOME, check the box, uncheck everything else. You want to be notified of a bunch of things, but SWEET MOTHER OF GOD you don't want to be notified if someone likes your post? FART YEAH MY MAN, uncheck that box.
- Hover over your name
- Click on Primary Notification
- Check and uncheck to your hearts content.

IN SUMMARY

  • Liking every goddamned post doesn't move you up the community rankings.  Please. Stop.
  • Liking every goddamned post to piss people off has ceased to be funny. Please. Stop.
  • You no longer have any excuse for seeing notifications you don't want to see. If you don't want to see email or onsite notification, then it's 100% a you problem and you just want to bitch. Please. Stop.

In an ideal world, the newly single Christina Hendricks decides she wants to have an intense, torrid, and years long love affair with me, the Packers win the Super Bowl, people would stop liking every freaking post, and people would stop bitching if other people like their posts.
