To me the brightest light on this otherwise dark dismal offense is Randall Cobb. He seems to be able to do it all, with good hands, run after the catch and not to mention he has a fire in him that the others don't. I say forgot about Driver as his time is long gone, feed Cobb! Run him out of the backfield, hit him on short slants, throw long to him. It doesn't matter how, but get him the damn ball.
I am not dismissing James Jones play as he has been solid, but Cobb is a difference maker. If we hope to turn our season around he will have to play a huge role as apparently Jordy can no longer get open, Finley can't catch and we don't believe in throwing to our running backs.

I don't know why they can't get Cobb involved in the gameplan like the Vikings do with Harvin. Swing passes, handoffs, screens, etc. Cobb's not on Harvin's level yet but they have a very similar skillset.

Harvin is averaging 8 receptions and almost 3 rushes per game. Cobb is averaging 4 receptions per game and only has 2 rushes on the season. He seems to be the spark that the offense needs but for whatever reason he's ignored for long stretches of the game.
When you go 3 and out so many times and let a team like the Colts run 20 more plays than you do, you don't have that many opportunities to try different kinds of playcalls.
Jordy is the #1 with Jennings out and is drawing more attention from defenses. Just like how the Packers gameplanned to take Brandon Marshall out of the Chicago game, Indy gameplanned to take Nelson out of this game. I don't blame Jordy, but McCarthy and Rodgers need to find more ways to get the ball in his hand.
I realize MM runs this offenses through his packages ran than a rigid depth chart per se, but I see absolutely no reason for Driver to be on the field and Cobb on the bench. Until Jennings is at back at 100%, Cobb should be no worse than second among pass catchers in snaps for this team.
i'd like to see cobb get more involved too. the slant he took in for a td was a thing of beauty. i think he could take over jennings role and be our leading receiver. he almost is now.

Don't know, but Lang's quotes griping that the Colts knew we were going to pass it on every play in the second half spoke volumes about possible player dissension, IMO. The players know it when an opponent is predicting them, and clearly they don't like it.

Cobb has been effective exactly because he is the unknown factor in the Pack's offense.

Randall Cobb
He was on the field for 44 plays, had four balls thrown to him, caught them all and averaged 20.5 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown.

He gained 46 of his 82 yards, including 24 on his TD, after the catch. When the Packers are so desperate to make plays, it’s hard to understand why Cobb isn’t on the field more, especially with Greg Jennings out. Then again, it was mind-boggling why he didn’t play more last year for Donald Driver.continue
Best all I can figure... best... is that MM3 is figuring he will hide him until his playoff push package.

Wrong time to do that, time to open up the 'surprises' and get back to running the ball. To be honest, I can't remember a Packer RB making 3 guys look silly trying to tackle him like that in a long time.

Green isn't a small back, whatever reservations Mike has calling running plays for him needs to stop. Some folks have called it Arena ball, and I have to agree, it seems to be what they are going for now, and it simply does not work in the NFL.

Randall Cobb
got by far his highest number of snaps with 65%. In previous weeks he’s had 53%, 29%, 12% & 48%. He was in the slot for all bar three of his 44 plays.

Stat Attack:
Aaron Rodgers
may want to look to WR Randall Cobb more. He had a perfect 158.3 rating when throwing to him. -profootballfocus snap and stat report

I think so, too, bubbleboy789.

Our offense has become predictable. A steady dose of Randall Cobb could be the answer we're looking for. He can keep a defense off balance.

Then, would a steady dose of Randall Cobb become predictable?
I picked up Cobb this week on my fantasy team and started him over Brandon Lloyd, and it ended up being a great choice (got an extra 3.5 points). Cobb is just too good not to get the ball, and I'm glad MM realized that. Cobb did most of his damage in the first half, which did wonders for this offense (his play in the middle of the field really opened things up on the outside).
My league only gives TD's for returns, no yards. Not PPR, but we do get 1 point for every 5 catches. He's been solid in my league, but nothing off the charts. Hope these last 3 games are a precursor of what's to come.
The analysis in that article was dribble. Kareem really went all out on that article. The Packers use Cobb just like Harvin because he is sometimes lined up in the backfield.
Roll Eyes
How about analyzing the type of plays each of them run, their efficiency, and times targeted? How about relating where each catch the ball and the percentage of the offense each of is responsible for? Cobb has been in the backfield since the beginning of the season and in week 8 it finally gets notice?
From a pure speed and strength combo, I'd take Harvin over Cobb, but Cobb has better intangibles. He's a more natural route runner and you're probably not going to see him in a coaches' dog house anytime soon.

Harvin is one strong dude for his size, but Cobb may have a little bit better lateral quickness. 2 very good players, but they do it in different ways.
