8 That is all!!
Couple more changes, Monasterio at 2nd, Perkins in CF. CC can do a lot of pinch hitting and defensive changes, if needed with this line up. Brewers have some pretty hefty BA against Corbin. Canha, .381, Donaldson, .455 and Caratini .500. ESPN gives the Crew a 76% chance of winning.
Mitchell did better at Nashville last night going 1-4, no strike outs plus a stolen base.
Williams struggles in the 9th, walking 2 after 2 outs. But he gets out of his own jam. Brewers have Contreras, Santana and Adames coming up. 1-1.
Lose 2-1 in 11. Brewers load the bases in the 10th but can't score. Had Contreras on 3rd with 1 out but Tellez hits a hard ball right at the 1st baseman who steps on the base and throws Contreras out at home. Game over.
And on we go to St. Louis.
Did Turang bunt for a base hit in the 11th or did he sacrifice? If he was told to sacrifice, what an idiotic play. If you were tied, it's great. If you are down 1, you are playing for a tie to go to another inning with your best relievers unavailable?
Turang giving himself up in that situation says more about how lousy a hitter Turang is than anything else.
It was called a sacrifice. I have no problem with getting a slower runner like Contreras to 3rd where a fly ball from Adames or a base hit, even an infield single would have scored him to at least tie the game.
I more question letting VIEIRA pitch 2 innings when a well rested Payamps was available.
I thought Vieira pitched well, just got beat by a couple fly balls. Payamps pitched yesterday.
That was probably a case where Turang was bunting for a hit but it will always be scored as a sacrifice. It's not a bad play in that situation.
I knew Peguero pitched Saturday, didn't realize Payamps did too. But he could have use Uribe for an inning. He last pitched Friday night and only threw 6 pitches.
Vieira didn't even give up a hit in 2 innings so he did his job. The Brewers had the same situation, a man on 3rd with one out in both the 9th and 10th innings, and didn't produce. I place more blame there.
Uribe had a medical mound visit in that game and they left him in base on what he said. Chances are they are being careful with him especially when Chafin pitched in a high leverage situation earlier in the game instead of him.
