The Brewers are going to get swept at home in a series where they got good starting outings from their starting pitchers in the 3 of the 4 games.

Peralta, 6 innings, 3 runs, 9 Ks

Woodruff, 6 innings, 1 run, 10 Ks

Houser, 6 innings, 1 run, 3 Ks

Thank god the Cardinals don't have 7 games left with the Cubs!

I know you were being sarcastic, but it is very disconcerting at this point.

If you assume the worst and think the Brewers will get swept by the Cards in the 3 games in St. Louis, the division lead is down to 4 in the loss column.

Other than that, the Brewers have 3 games vs. the Mets and 3 vs. the Dodgers.

The Cards have the other 7 left against the Cubs.

What looked ridiculous to even think about is now at least in play. That is a complete Brewer collapse to end up as a wild card team. They literally needed to win 1 of these 4 games and they could have guaranteed a relaxing last 9 games. Now, they absolutely need to win at least 2, if not 3, games against the Mets.

It’s all my fault

I was tuning in when up 5-1 and went outside to do yardwork and the bullpen just imploded.

I have no idea what it is with St Louis but clearly they have the Brewers number.  Not ready to panic just yet, but this is not the way you want to head down the stretch.  Hopefully they can get out of this funk quickly.

By the way, why do you leave Ashby in to pitch the 9th after he gave up a run in the 8th? Why not Williams or Hader to optimize your chance of keeping it close?

Why Cousins and not Boxberger to open the 7th? Boxberger-Williams-Hader is what has been most effective all year.

CC is a great manager, but some questionable decisions in this series.

C C needs to shake things up.   Maybe bat Yelich in the leadoff spot.  Follow with Adames or Wong with whoever bats 2nd the other bats 3rd.  Then any combo of Navarez, Escobar or Garcia.    Or maybe go back to Cain leading off. That worked real good in 2019.

Is Tellez ever coming back before the playoffs?

In my lifetime, the biggest choke job was the 95 Angels getting worked by Seattle.  Since I lived in So Cal at the time, it is burned in my memory although I didn’t have a rooting interest in either team.

While it’s unlikely, if the Brewers find a way to gack this up it might be the worst of all time.  Fucking Cardinals indeed.

So the Cubs had a 4-2 lead in the top of 7th. Cards get 3 runs to take the lead.  Bottom of the 8th, Cubs have runners on 1st and 3rd, 1 out. And then this play:

Ortega grounded into double play, first to catcher to third to second to catcher to center to shortstop, T. Thompson out at second, Bote out at third.
What the hell were the Cubs doing?
Then the Cards scored 3 more top of the 9th. Lead 8-4.
