It's very rare for a team with a QB/HC combo to win a SB with a particular roster, and then win it again years later with completely different roster.  The SB winning team may win more than one with mostly the same cast but usually, through attrition, FA and reverse draft order that winning team fades away.  Maybe there is also an element of energy to it where everybody rides the wave of mo generated by ascending talent.  There are only 2, maybe 3 teams that you might say have bucked that trend: NE, PIT and NO though NO has not won that second SB yet with Brees.

I see PIT and GB as very similar franchises with very similar recent success and current situations.  NE is really a red herring in almost every comparison because BB/TB are such outliers it's unfair to say "be more like them!".  Even though they haven't gotten there yet, NO has a SB looking team with pretty much only Peyton/Brees remaining from that 2009 squad.  They had some down seasons recently that allowed them to reload the roster but it looks like they've taken advantage of that opportunity.  If you want a template for getting back into real contention you should look to what NO has done over the last several years.  Part of the formula includes drafting higher in the order for several drafts.

Kamara in the third round? That's as good as when we got Baktiari.

Just for shits n giggles. Iā€™d love to see Mike hand over play calling to Philbin.

Maybe Mike and Aaron have reached a point of no return in terms of communication during games. Maybe Mike is out thinking himself in regards to play calling but this offense can look all world for 7 play stretches and then go instantly dormant. It happens every week. Maybe thatā€™s frustrating Rodgers who is second guessing things himself and changing plays on the fly. Maybe thatā€™s why GB has 6 delay of game penalties in 8 games and 275 wasted time outs to prevent more. Sometimes when you call specific plays is more important that what play you call.

Of course I have nothing to back any of this up other than this. If the  offensive play cards are actually ok maybe you just need a new dealer. It canā€™t hurt at this point to shake things up to jump start the offense.

Yah, why not? What have we got to lose?

It just looks like Mike and Aaron are moving farther away from sync in regards to play calling. When you watch the actual plays they arenā€™t always shit. Except for that weird ****ing inside reverse fake pitch toss thing to Ty that almost resulted in a fumble but thankfully only lost 5 yards on 2nd and short in LA.

When a pitcher is dealing heā€™s almost always got a catcher that is throwing down pitch and location the pitcher wants to throw. Itā€™s same page stuff and it just gets better as the game moves along. Heā€™s not shaking anything off. It looks like Rodgers is shaking Mike off every other pitch. Only in baseball the batter gets sick with all of it and steps out instead of waiting for the QB to burn a time out

Mike isnā€™t going to reinvent how and when he calls plays. That might be how we got to this grinding gear offense.

If Mike thinks the installs and scheme are right (which he should. Itā€™s kind of his job)  and recognize the offense isnā€™t working (which it isnā€™t) in theory he should look to let someone else shake up play calling.

If Im Mike I have to think itā€™s the best option I have left.

Sounds good but I fear Mike is the I'm going down with ship kinda guy.

Which might be exactly how weā€™ve arrived at this point. But Gute has quickly struck me as a ā€œare you with you or with us?ā€ guy.

Mike needs to know Rodgers is thriving and happy or Mike is gone.

I think AR should call his own plays.  I suspect QB/Plau Caller (mlss)communication is  common in the NFL.  I don't think it is a given it works for everyone.  Also, I agree with the wasted time out comments.  I think this could be the cure.

Also, the "system" might be just fine.  It what is called within the system that makes the difference.

Really, you want AR12 calling that run option he ran on 3rd down and then fumbled against the Pats?  And are not many of the time outs being called because AR12 ran the play clock down trying to get the D to jump offsides with a hard count?  That doesn't work anymore.

Hi everyone.

Been absent from site more now that Brewers are dun.  Haven't watched any foolsball since Referees took control of games completely.  That stated, I miss watching the Packers in a similar way that I miss Sarge when gone fishing for a couple weeks.

The NFL needs to improve for me to return totally.  The Packers need to finish cleaning house to get me to be a casual fan again.  MM should be gone yesterday.  We get out coached regularly and that is on him.

DocBenni posting a thread about should we be hoping to lose is a bad sign.  Exceeds global warning issues with me.

Have a great day and thank you all for caring.

I am hoping for a game where we don't burn timeouts because the play clock is approaching zero and no one is ready to play. It would be nice if we played as a team and were in sync with the game plan, whatever that happens to be. We need to execute and win this game or the season, for us, will be over well before the playoffs come around.

ā€œTheyā€ may think AR is good enough to where he doesnā€™t need the time outs at the end of games due to his end of game clock management ability. I agree itā€™s frustrating as hell, but I also canā€™t remember a game where GB ran out of time at the end of the game and I was like ā€œdamn, I wish they had one of their timeouts.ā€

Then again I may have forgotten something. Itā€™s been known to happen you know.

I'd rather they just give Rodgers like 20-30 plays a week and say go out and execute them as the defense dictates. No need to huddle. Might reduce those snaps with :00 on the clock.

The 0:00 on the clock is because of Rodgers. Not the called play..

That's part of it, trying to read the defense as long as possible and/or get them to jump but it's also been noted that plays are coming in late. If you eliminate the plays coming in over the headset that allows more time for all the other stuff.

Send something simple lair to AR. He is the one taking the clock to :00. The plays are called and given with at least 15 seconds remaining. It is AR trying to be cute and do something that has not worked in over two years that causes the timeouts..

but, everyone wants to blame MM.....

Taking the play clock down makes the defense more likely to tip off the pass rush. It worked for the better part of a decade. It works well when your OL is full of experienced Pro Bowl level guys  (Bulaga, Lang, Sitton, Linsley, and Bakh) at almost every position who benefit from seeing the "tells".  Spriggs and McCray aren't probably learning much from the defense showing something, they are probably too scared shitless about being embarrassed to really concentrate.

It also doesn't help to be playing with two promising but inexperienced WRs. The adjustments he could make with Nelson/J. Jones/Cobb etc. take more time to make with the new guys.
